got to pull you up on a point pal, the Td5 is not Bled by turning on and off the ignition a few times. Its achieved by pumping the accelerator 5 times to begin a bleeding cycle where the engine check light begins to flash, the cycle takes a few minuites. Honestly i get that you are trying to make a decent videos and your heart is in the right place but giving wrong information is just Bad
The way we did it was just what we had been told was correct, we'll learn from it. Thanks.
Here is the First thing that came up on google
defendertd5.weebly.com/fuel-filter-change.html
Bleeding the system.
Unlike the Tdi engines which will bleed themselves, you will need to bleed the Td5. This is done electronically though so it’s no biggie. First, turn the ignition key to position II so the warning lights come on and press the accelerator 5 times before the engine management light goes out. This puts the engine in to purge mode and the system will start to bleed itself. This can take quite a few minutes and you will hear the pump go through quite a few cycles. The engine
management light will flash and continue to flash until all the air is expelled from the system. When the engine management light goes out, turn the key and it should burst into life.
If you turn the engine off before going on a test drive you may find the pump sounds different, like it’s still purging. This is normal and after a test run the pump should sound back to normal.
To be fair how they bled it is how we do them and works every time never had a problem.
Yea the fuel system will self bleed by turning the ignition on. It doesn't have to have the accelerator pumped. When you turn the ignition the fuel pump in the tank will run for about 15-20 seconds and prime the system without you pumping the throttle.
@Scott Ryland wow, 2 accounts that joined youtube on the same day 06/03/2021 attempting to lure people to a scamming site! Such convincing bots! lol
I love the camera work. Makes the entire tutotial way more professional!
Cheers!
Thanks for your demo
Great Work Liam & Nisse. Nice video, great intro.
Thanks for watching
To bleed at TD5 fuel system you simply turn the ignition to the second position and press the accelerator pedal four times. You will hear the system kick in and go off once complete after a few minutes. 😃
Good stuff guys, and really well filmed/produced as usual.
Thank you!
Guys, get yourselves a tractor funnel for the oil, makes a world of difference. Also you don't need to take the rear wheel off to change fuel filter, it's a bit awkward but it can be done.
This ' turn ignition on and off few times' method works well for me, even though it's not the correct way to do it. Never had a problem. It also suitable for almost every vehicle which has common rail fuel injection system fitted with it. Just like you said Td5 has the most awkward oil filter placement ever. Right under the exhaust manifold.
Your video was very informative...I've just brought a 1999 td5 disco and have also brought the kit off eBay. I subbed👍🏻
You bought not brought. 👌🏻
If you prime the fuel filter first it would be easier to prime, also you can prime the fuel filter with diesel injector cleaner does a nice job cleaning the system.
Great video. stabbing a large nail into the oil filter and using it as a lever to get it turning works well, but as you know there isn't much room to do that either
Cheers
Thank you for the presentation and Greetings from Paris ! I have a defender TD5 year 2003. If I up-shift quickly with high RPM from 1st to 2d, or 2d to 3d, I feel a crunch/grind in my hand (not so loud to hear it in the vehicle, I can just feel it with my hand).
If I leave the RPM/rev normal, and leave a 1 second pause on Neutral between these gears, all is fine.
No crunch when downshifting. The gearbox runs with new MTF94 oil.
Is this a normal behavior for a R380 ? Are we supposed to UP shift slowly with these gearboxes, losing momentum ?
Losing momentum is not an issue on flat road, but annoying climbing a slope.
Many thanks for your help and feedback !
Julien
guys, I don't mean to be a boring old fart but...... when you are working anywhere near an engine and you have a draw cord dangling from a hoodie. Just remember if the engine is running you could find it catches on a pulley and suddenly snatch you in.
( yes it does happen. our apprentice got exactly that and had facial injuries from the fan before he realised what was going on). Good video.
Why would be the engine running whilst on oil change??...
How about giving the car a power wash to get rid of the dirt and dust before changing any filters?
Fill up the fuel filter first before fitting its bleed better
Another great video
Thanks
Gearbox, transfer box and diff oil change next?
;)
If you turn the ignition on, and pump the accelerator 5 times, the EML will flash, it'll keep the fuel pump running allowing the system to fully prime, without the need to keep turning the ignition on and off!
Thanks Ollie!
About to do the same thing and this does not help in terms of where the filters are......
Great videos guys!👍
Lovely hair Liam, what gel are you using?
How much cost per year to be owner of one Land rover defender 110SW 2011 2,4TD ?And what kind issues have the defenders ?
How can you dispose the oil ?
Britpart service kit any good?
You should do the honey car thing. Lol.
Seriously though do it
:D
you guys should have used TH-camd to id that filter and remove it quickly
Hi there
I have a 1985 Defender 110 with 2.5 NA diesel engine
and I'm currently having problems the engine at the first time.
no matter the time or day the engine will crank for over a minute before starting.
Also there's lots of white smoke coming out the exhaust pipe while cranking.
I was wondering if you could give me any suggestions what to look for?
Go to AULRO for advice.
There is a special tool for removing the oil filter P/N PM136
are you a couple guys?
Waldemar Ojciec Tajfuna I hope they are haha
I believe that some sort of homosexual event has taken place here
rubbish
