    Good set of videos, thank you. As a new Td5 owner I’m finding them easy and straightforward to follow, which does give me the confidence to DIY. Cheers

    super helpfull and parts ordered, would help if part numbers were in description and no part number for the filter either

    Good idea to write the date of change on the filters. Not necessary, just good practice.

    Ha Ha ! My prayers answered! I have been hoping for a video on changing the diesel filter, or more correctly the after fitting procedure, I thought it would involve a flat battery with all the priming after the change ! The centrifugal oil filter is a really good idea, and I find it a lot easier to change than the lower conventional filter, which is always awkward. I did think Jean-Paul was going to get a black hair day draining the sump. Very many thanks for posting this one ! Chris B.

    Also a piece of webbing Wrapped around oil filter can be used to remove oil filter if you don’t have the filter removal tool.

    Hey, this is a useful video, thanks. I own a td5 discovery 2 but seems like it'll work the same.

    Great stuff, I think that this current time will be the opportunity for me to start doing my own service on my 2004 TD5, and I'll be following the video. Cheers 👍

    Hi John Paul: you do some great video's; will you be making a video for a Defender 90 TD5 showing how to change the timing chain? I have read that the head needs to be removed? kind regards, Martin

    Those rear hooks on the air filter box are, tricky to say the least.
    Shouldn’t you clamp the fuel lines before removing the diesel filter?

    • @tonyg9379
      @tonyg9379 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You're not kidding about the air filter box.
      Clamp the fuel lines? never seen that in the manual.

  • @alan2804
    @alan2804 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yes why was the centrifugal filter 👍 not continued? The sound went off at the point the fuel spilled out of the filter “oh for fuels sake!?” Bleep?😂

    How often do you recommend this type of service? I've read recommendations from every 5000km (mainly oil) to once every 12/24 months. TIA

    You should’ve redone the air filter in the edit having said about making sure in the tabs as you went to clip it in the rear popped out - guess it’s just one more rattle 😁

    Just done my service on my 2002 TD5 . Any tips for getting the oil filter off any tools to use?

    • @RimmerBrosTV
      @RimmerBrosTV  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just the advice that John Paul gives in the video, I'm afraid. They can be tough to remove if tight but persevere and as JP says, use the thinnest oil filter wrench you can get your hands on.

  • @lluistobellamayans6146
    @lluistobellamayans6146 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Don’t you need to remove anything to get rid of the oil filter? looks easier on the video than my reality ! 😅

    • @RimmerBrosTV
      @RimmerBrosTV  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In all honesty, it wasn't that easy, even in JP's reality. But it's worth having a go.

    • @tonyg9379
      @tonyg9379 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, it would probably help if you could remove the turbo, the exhaust manifold, the air pipe to the intercooler, the cylinder head.......and maybe the engine as well.
      Difficult doesn't begin to describe it.

  • @tonyg9379
    @tonyg9379 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    He didn't fix the cover properly on the air filter, probably because it's such a pig to fix that it would have taken the full 8 minutes of the vid to get it right.He also didn't emphasize how difficult it is to get the conventional oil filter off and out without spilling a load of oil onto the engine

    Changing the oil filter on a Td5 makes me want to throw away the whole vehicle

      I've found it helps to take the engine out with a hoist, then you can get at the filter easily.
