My best friend passed away and we really loved cranking this song on a hot day after chilling at the lake all day. We always shared admiration for this song and considered it a musical masterpiece. As I was making my way through the 3 mile long line of people (yes I had to wait to see him)..... This song started playing as I entered the room and as I got to the casket the solo was playing. It was the most beautiful way to tell my best friend goodbye. To our favorite song at our favorite part. It’s almost like he told god to put on this fire track. Thank you for making this song so much more special. Can’t wait to rock out in heaven! Rest In Peace bro!

It's clear through this whole album Dan was pulling inspiration from some really dark and sad place in his soul. It's funny how some of the best music comes from heartbreak.
One of the first times I listen to this song it was during the peak of the 1st psychedelic trip I've had. It was a beautiful experience, I was sad and happy at the same time, listening so intensely to every instrument, seeing really intricate visuals and I specifically remember thinking "Oh wow, song is now ending that was great" after what if felt like 15 minutes of music only to see the timer aproaching the middle of the song LUL. It was like watching a movie. I feel a special conection to this song now.
+Whitney Angelie I listen to both. Music is completely subjective and you're both ignorant for saying one time period is better than anothers. Every time period has great songs and music.
DomR1997 i agree. there was shity music 30-40 years ago too, but only the good songs are remembered nowadays. just like in 40 years from now they will listen the best music from this decade
Beautiful song, my favorite by The Black Keys and one of my all time overall favorites. Dan Auerbach is truly so talented. Those vocals and that guitar are amazing. ❤
Every now and then I find myself coming back to this song, hard to believe it’s been almost 10 years. I fell in love with this song when I first heard it, which was summer of 2015. It was the summer after I graduated high school, and I was driving home late at night on a weeknight after seeing some friends. I was just alone in my car, with the windows open and the radio on, alone on the road. It was a tough time because I had spent all second semester talking to this girl who I was so smitten with, she was at that time the most beautiful girl in the world to me, and by the end of the school year I had to finally accept that she didn’t wanna date me, she just wanted to keep me around so she could use me for emotional support when the guys she was actually dating would mistreat her. I was young and I experienced then, so I didn’t understand that you can’t convince someone to like you, and I didn’t understand that girls will do that; take a guy they have no interest in dating but keep him around with crumbs of attention so that they have someone to listen to them and validate them when the guys they actually date, the bad boys, cheat on them, ignore them, etc. Hearing this song on that drive home, not only is the instrumental so beautiful and haunting, but the lyrics spoke to me. From what I understand the song was written about the singer’s recent ex-wife, who cheated on him leading to a divorce. I related so much to what he’s saying to her in the song: that he feels bad for her because she’s never had a pure love, she’s always moving from man to man, leaving broken hearts in her path, and that she’ll be on his mind, whether due to missing her or pitying her, and wishing her well in her future relationships. I’m back here again to listen, the same exact TH-cam video of the song, almost 10 years later, and I’m reminded of that drive home, of that time in my life. Life is still hard, now I have new women to be upset about, to miss, to wish wanted me like I wanted them, but it’s nice to think back about a woman who now I wouldn’t want, but at one time was all I wanted. I’m writing this comment so that I have something to revisit when I come back to this song, whenever that may be.
I’ve been a fan for the past 8 years for what it feels like to, but I just turned 34 and 4 months ago I turned 33. Time is an anomaly Edit : lost track of thought I originally had , because of the thought of time … I’m insanely relative to you on your experience that closely relates to this song .. and crazier that they have so many more songs that strike me just as hard , and with different approaches in sound .. they are the needle in the haystack that I hope everyone comes around to discover , they’ve always deserved way more than they ever received
I have to say, while I like the Black Keys, this song makes me want to dig deeper in to their catalog. Has a great throwback feel, that I just dont get much from today's music.
+ElLapiz24 He thinks it's the best, not sure why you have to question him about it. Personally I think this is the best album of rock in the last 2 decades
+Moses S There's no problem with personal opinions. But those are just bold statements. Saying it's your favourite rock album in how ever many decades would be different. Amazing song none the less
This band has evolved to something great, making lots of changes to their music without forgetting where they came from, not many bands do such a thing when they change. This is the awesome thing about them and whoever can't realise it I feel sorry for them.
Easily the best track on this whole album, and I am willing to argue one of their best ever. The guitar at the end feels like some great tragedy unfolding before you.
I used to think Darling, you never did nothing But you were always up to something Always at a run in yeah I gotta think Those days are coming to get you Nobody wanna protect you They only wanna forget you You'll be on my mind Don't give yourself away To the weight of love You'll be on your side Don't give yourself away The weight of, weight of love Dance all night Cause people they don't wanna be lonely Never want to be lonely Never want to be an only one You had a thing No one could ever be sure of Never, ever had a pure love And never no cure from You'll be on my mind Don't give yourself away To the weight of love You'll be on your side Don't give yourself away

My Brother And I just seen Dan an Pat at the St. Paul State Fair, When lonley boys came on.... LEts just say I needed my "Twirling Room" LOL This song will forever hold a special place in my heart ! Rock on Dan & Pat !
I have listened The Black Keys since 'Brothers' (2010) when I was 13 years old. This is one of my favourite songs ever. Everytime I listen to that solo guitar I felt so many things inside that shock me out my soul. I never thought that I could watch this song in live because I am from Spain and they don't come so often. In fact until this summer I couldn't watcht them on tour for the first time. They played this song and make my dream come true. It was so special that I am not going to forget that sensation never. Long live to The Black Keys!
Not entirely correct, they're not done for good, they're just having a break after touring for so long, they should get an album out around this time next year
This song in the background, a walk in the night with a bright moon shining and me reminiscing the past on silver-white shining grass, where I lay and find my peace. A peace that's fulfilling, the moment where the brain listens to everything the world has to say, the moment where I watch the stars fall with nothing to wish for, the moment where I stay for the world to pass by in timelapse without taking anything from me.
@@alaskasmith241 thanks, coincidently it so happens that I've been working on a writing project since last 10 years, will let you know once I complete it 😇

When this album got out back in 2015, i had already been a fan of the black keys for a few years . But I was 19 , still too immature to really get the caliber of the music inside. I got back to it a few years later, it must have 2019 or so, and i finally understood that was the best album of the black keys EVER released. They reached perfectly balanced, flawless music when everybody had already forgotten them. Catchy smash hit such as lonely boy resonate with the broader audience, but true rock fans... They know that the pure, real black keys melody springs out of this record. It gets better as time goes by.
@@legobobafett5045 no, neve heard about, indeed... but I'll take it as a recommendation, by the way. I'm more into podcasts right now, but I never forgot about music

It’s one of those songs that makes us all feel connected. It’s truly amazing reading some of the comments on here. Each with their own perspective of what it means to me. Dan really showed the world how much you can express human emotion from an instrument and I’ll forever be grateful for that.
WOW!!!! JUST WOW!!!!! I came here to listen to a different Black Keys tune for my band that wants to play one of their songs. I'm not a fan of this band ( I am now). And this song just came up by itself next, and I am completely blown away!!!! Where has this tune been for the past several years!!! It sounds like it was recorded in the 60s. I LOVE IT!!!!!!
I dedicated this to my grandma She passed away later I hear it all the time for her Then My other grandma passed. But this is the most beautiful orchestrated sounds for anyone and imagine dedicating it to your biggest idol. Makes it so much more special. I would shed tear alone then I showed my best friend and we tear tighter but it’s nothing bad
Thanks for the recommendation always dig finding new music. His solo is intense and crazier, but somehow the outro solo on weight of love has so much emotion. Probably a personal thing but can ride the whole wave, and feel it.
Then you must listen to David Gilmours solos, either on his solo works or Pink Floyd's albums:) Time, Echoes, Shine on you crazy diamond, Comfortably Numb, there are so many. And this song is very similar to PF's Breathe - see for yourself, especially the beginning

Edit : lost track of thought I originally had , because of the thought of time … I’m insanely relative to you on your experience that closely relates to this song .. and crazier that they have so many more songs that strike me just as hard , and with different approaches in sound .. they are the needle in the haystack that I hope everyone comes around to discover , they’ve always deserved way more than they ever received
This one is golden... and The Black Key really have a lot of good stuff .. but this one hits hard
I have to say, while I like the Black Keys, this song makes me want to dig deeper in to their catalog. Has a great throwback feel, that I just dont get much from today's music.
Best rock song i heard last decade
+obxnck
check out:
Mercury Rev - People Are So Unpredictable
Shearwater - Home Life
amazing stuff!
Really? Have you only heard like, two rock songs in the last decade?
+ElLapiz24 He thinks it's the best, not sure why you have to question him about it. Personally I think this is the best album of rock in the last 2 decades
+Moses S Really? Have you only listened to like, two rock albums in the last decade?
+Moses S There's no problem with personal opinions. But those are just bold statements. Saying it's your favourite rock album in how ever many decades would be different. Amazing song none the less
The beginning of this song just goes on forever. I love it
This song is so amazing. Witnessing it live last week was something else 😭😍❤️
The guitar solo near the end makes me cry so hard and I have no idea why .
i like your name mack
Hang in there
I remember driving through the Mts in Utah just listening to this song on repeat for hours. What a beautiful memory. I'm glad to have it. Thanks keys.
Gold, Jerry, Gold
that’s awesome
The Black Keys... I would have nominated them for Nobel..
spellthemagicword
That happened to me years ago, when i started listening to them
The chorus to this song definitely gives me Portugal, The Man vibes.
This band has evolved to something great, making lots of changes to their music without forgetting where they came from, not many bands do such a thing when they change. This is the awesome thing about them and whoever can't realise it I feel sorry for them.
***** I know it's more than logic and it will happen to every current mainstream band but why not enjoy it while it lasts?
Haha, no way, they'll never sell out, they're not that type of band.
Zanzaroni GR I'm glad they didn't go downhill like Maroon 5. Their first album was great but they went downhill from there.
NikoBell12 They've just gotten better with age.
This is my number 1 song, the one I'll never get tired of.
You are probably tired of it by now...
+DENİZ ÜNLÜ ahaha, not yet! :)
MASTERPIECE
idk why but the black keys speak to me in a way i cant fully explain
Easily the best track on this whole album, and I am willing to argue one of their best ever. The guitar at the end feels like some great tragedy unfolding before you.
I used to think
Darling, you never did nothing
But you were always up to something
Always at a run in yeah
I gotta think
Those days are coming to get you
Nobody wanna protect you
They only wanna forget you
You'll be on my mind
Don't give yourself away
To the weight of love
You'll be on your side
Don't give yourself away
The weight of, weight of love
Dance all night
Cause people they don't wanna be lonely
Never want to be lonely
Never want to be an only one
You had a thing
No one could ever be sure of
Never, ever had a pure love
And never no cure from
You'll be on my mind
Don't give yourself away
To the weight of love
You'll be on your side
Don't give yourself away
deep

I know this is a bit late...but i never reply much attention to lyrics when im listening to it..the other day i was driving back from work and this song came out and i forgot how good it is!!!!....can anyone explain what it is about?...
This should have been the first single. I think it would have taken the world by storm. I guess you saved the best for last.
last? where are theyyyy
Take care in Spain! Que te vayas sin prisa pero sin pausa. ❤
That is amazing! I'm so glad you got to see them live 😊
The most satisfiyng sound my ears ever heard 1:43 the bass and the keybord solo.
eargasms with black keys all day
Easily the best song they ever made. They need to just make a fuckin psychedelic prog album that sounds like this.
Yes!! Omg that’d be so awesome
Amazing song... great progressive style influenced by Pink Floyd
Controversial
Check out the arcs
This is what I’m saying. This is Pink Floyd-level art and they need to explore it more
Come on Black Keys bring out that new album!!!
they aren't together anymore, but Dan has a new band called The Arcs
Not entirely correct, they're not done for good, they're just having a break after touring for so long, they should get an album out around this time next year
MR x MaDnEsS thanks For the info
Still waiting
Ivan Gee Dan did confirmed they’re on hiatus, hoping an album drops soon too though!
Masterpiece. Easily the best song in the album.
This is one of those songs.. that when you hear it you get chills and goosebumps and think about that someone... I’ll never forget you. ~A
It almost feels dumb to still think about it. I don't have any regrets, but I do wonder. ~G
Every time
I miss you J....
Ohh... This song leaves you with a lump in your chest... So fricking emotional... Masterpiece! 🙌🙌🙌
Favorite song off the album hands down
Loving the Pink Floyd vibe. Thank you, Black Keys!
Thank you
A thousand percent would read a book you wrote because that was beautifully articulated
@@alaskasmith241 thanks, coincidently it so happens that I've been working on a writing project since last 10 years, will let you know once I complete it 😇
@@vik_you254 Awesome! That'd be sweet, I appreciate it
This is such a calming song to hear when you’re sad
This song kicks ass man, seriously I have no words to explain how much this song is pretty much simply flawless! and that guitar solo I mean c'mon just simply bad ass!!!!!
Oh man, this song is way too good
One of the best rock songs in years.
My favorite Black Keys song
Breathe, breathe in the air
Don't be afraid to care... :)
+Henry Sterling lol but its still a good song
+Henry Sterling You're disappointing!!
+Henry Sterling This was on the radio? What station and is it a good idea to move to an area where it broadcasts?
+Tamer Kassem (T900Kassem) it was on 93 XRT in Chicago at 3am. That's the only good station here and it's only good 50% of the time. KEXP in Seattle is the best radio station and it would be a grand idea to relocate there.
pink floyd? oq tem haver?
the absolute most hypnotizing song ever. ive been listening to it for a while and am not bored of it, instead, it's makes my stomach turn and ache as if it's the first time im listening to it...wow
same here
listen to something from the wall or wish you were here
+GLstyle1 I've listened to a few from the wall before but decided to give it all a listen. it was amazing. I'll check the other one out as well. pink Floyd is awesome and I know this track had influence.
+GLstyle1 The full Dark Side of the Moon and Wall album really.
breathe by pink floyd thats the one u should listen to
The last guitar solo is hauntingly beautiful and gradually steps beyond epic as it rolls through my system.
This is my personal favorite song by them. They have a lot of amazing records but something is different about this one. ✌
I think the way this song brings all the different vintage sounds in on one smooth, long wave - and then builds! Love it.
Totally agree!
I think that this is the most beautiful guitar work that Dan has laid down, the song is absolutely incredible! Lary
No words. No comments. Just listening and enjoying It🎶❤️

Listened to this live at outsidelands in San Francisco, never forget. Best times of my life
This will remain in the history of rock'n roll music.
this makes me happy and feel warm, I like.
I see what you mean
Dan's voice is like the best whiskey ever ❤️
When this album got out back in 2015, i had already been a fan of the black keys for a few years . But I was 19 , still too immature to really get the caliber of the music inside. I got back to it a few years later, it must have 2019 or so, and i finally understood that was the best album of the black keys EVER released. They reached perfectly balanced, flawless music when everybody had already forgotten them. Catchy smash hit such as lonely boy resonate with the broader audience, but true rock fans... They know that the pure, real black keys melody springs out of this record. It gets better as time goes by.
Do You listen to The Blue Stones by chance? P.s. I also miss being 19 in 2015.
@@legobobafett5045 no, neve heard about, indeed... but I'll take it as a recommendation, by the way. I'm more into podcasts right now, but I never forgot about music
Dear Black Keys, every single person who owns a Spotify account would GREATLY appreciate it if you guys were to release your album on their web site. I own the Turn Blue album but I use Spotify for all my music, so not having you guys on here kinda blows. ty
agree
Yes please
Use Apple Music ☺️
release el caminho too " por favor"
Music streaming is a sad endeavor from the perspective of musicians with self respect
It’s one of those songs that makes us all feel connected. It’s truly amazing reading some of the comments on here. Each with their own perspective of what it means to me. Dan really showed the world how much you can express human emotion from an instrument and I’ll forever be grateful for that.
This is a great song to listen to while stoned
Dan laying down some heartfelt vocals, funky basslines, and face-melting solos; all in the album's opener. What a talent.
I dedicated this to my grandma
She passed away later
I hear it all the time for her
Then
My other grandma passed.
But this is the most beautiful orchestrated sounds for anyone and imagine dedicating it to your biggest idol. Makes it so much more special. I would shed tear alone then I showed my best friend and we tear tighter but it’s nothing bad
hey man i just wanna say bless you, you are a beautiful soul
Recognize a masterpiece yall
This has to be one of the best solo's I know.
Emir Gluhbegovic listen to free bird by lynrd skynrd and you'll know what a solo is
Thanks for the recommendation always dig finding new music.
Thanks Fuze, will check out breathe. Comfortably numb, is a powerful song also, the live version with his solo, that is some mighty inspired music.
