I know pretty much all music sounds better when you're stoned, but man this sounds sublime when you're stoned! Lyrically a conventional rock ballad about falling in love, but that haunting, almost melancholic keyboard - washing over a sad, plodding bassline - gives it a bittersweet feel, as if this romance is already doomed, and the singer knows (perhaps from bitter experience) there will be pain ahead. Beautiful.
My favorite song by them, it will forever hold a special place in my heart! I listened to this song 10+ times a day in 2016, was going through some crazy stuff in life, my beautiful orange kitty named Doug was my emotional support. He never left my side, he was ALWAYS there for me no matter what, and he still is! He falls asleep with my husband and I every night. This song and Everlasting Light have been dedicated to my sweet Doug, I will forever think of him ❤️
So much talent, so many influences - can’t even begin to explain how good this song is! Let’s just say that the black keys are one of the best bands in the last 20 years
@@WarriorGaminOfficial yes and no. Many great artists have a few songs that are huge while the rest of their catalogue goes untouched. I think Everlast is a good example with their massive hit "What It's Like", followed by a few other bigger hits. I understand that many people know OF them but they don't really know them.
I especially love the drums in this song because they feel relentless, like a train that just keeps chugging along. Or like a heart that just keeps beating in something that needs to die. But it just won't die. The love is unfortunately still alive even though the relationship is over. Relentless like the drums.
Here in this eternal loop, The keyboards are mesmerizing and endless in my heart, Lord knows I have no peace of mind, but this! this is my happy place!
This is a perfect song with perfect lyrics for one-sided feelings just after breaking the relationship. But for me, year has passed and still I love the ghost, the one that I love most.
My boyfriend and I are big fans of The Black Keys. While I was driving to his law school graduation, I decided that after all of the celebrating was done and we were alone, I was going to turn this song and dance with him. It’s one of my favorite memories from his apartment. He recently planned a photo session for us and I’m going to surprise him by us dancing to it again during the session. Update: The photo session got rained out and instead he planned the most romantic dinner with decorations and completely homemade spaghetti. We danced. He proposed. I said yes. Update Two: We eloped two weeks ago. This is still "our song" and my favorite one to dance to.
My favorite song. I promisse to myself i never listen that song if i was falling in love, yesterday i listen and i cannot control, all my mind with this song, remind he. Maybe this such a good thing, maybe in 4 years i will be back here to cry
I dedicate this song to The Black Keys. I listen to so much music, but in the end, they are the band that always is there, no matter the year, no matter my mood. *The only one* with these tunes, *the only one* that makes me feel these feelings...
i'm from brazil. I have El Camino's cover tattooed in my arm, I listen to your songs since i was a kid with my older brother, i just wanna say thank you for all you've done for music. In my opinion, you'll always be the best band i've ever heard to, please, come to Brazil someday, i'll be there.
This song came to me when i was at the very bottom of my life. I was homeless , consumed by shadow and fire , long hair and a skinny body. I recall i cried on a local bar , drinking up the money my poor had sended me. This song was at repeat the whole night. Now many years later i am gratuated and work with homeless addicts , i got a extremely fit body , iam new in many ways and this summerday i listen on it again. Somehow it all makes sense ;)
Fighting the good fight! Thank you Caleb, for making me feel connected…❤ from Eureka Springs, AR formerly Broken Bow, OK. Boston, Ouchita, Kiamichi Mtns to the OZARK Plateau Wish you guys could play a small venue here. 🙏🦋
@@eliotrobinson9613 I honestly was a little underwhelmed by Delta Kream. Just felt like somewhat dry versions of these old Blues songs. But on another hand, I like the album cover haha. THIS is the song that sucked me into The Black Keys. What a song it is.
60s vibe
My favorite song from this album. Hell yeah.
Kinda hard for me to choose, gawd, Next Girl and Everlasting Light are obvious favorites, but this one's a sleeper that grows on ya....
I love this song
Feels very oldie

Control
You have on my soul
It's all I do
Is baby dream of you
I'm fallin' down
When you're around
You're the only one
You're the only one
I'm so wrapped up in a daze
Hoping this is just a phase
But when all is said and done
I know you are still the one
You're the only one
You're the only one
Cupid's bow it stung
Now you're the only one
Mystery
Is what this is to me
Given up
I'm having no luck
Like a ghost
The one that I love the most
Disappears when I get near
You're the only one
You're the only one
I'm so wrapped up in a daze
Hoping this is just a phase
But when all is said and done

One of the most hauntingly beautiful songs ever written.
Loved and lost many times . Yet this song makes me want to back to those times, find that someone and hold on to her for the rest of my life.
When they get trippy melodic like this and Weight of Love...I totally vibe out
Strong 60s vibe. It makes me even dance like in the 60s
No one will ever understand how this song makes me feel.
I have the same Feeling about this song, it gives me chills and a little bit of nostalgic vibes. Cheers
