  • Ciarán Whelan and Tomás Ó Sé join Jacqui Hurley and Roy O'Neill to reflect on the weekend where Dublin's reign as champions ended.
    Can their conquerors, Galway, go one step further than two years ago?
    Or are Kerry primed for another All-Ireland? The men from the Kingdom did what they had to do to see off Derry at Croke Park.
    10 years after Donegal lost a an All-Ireland they might have won against Kerry, can they put things right with Jim McGuinness back at the helm? Or will it be Armagh, many people's outsiders in the semi-finals.
    The panel also discuss the spectacle of Gaelic football and what can be done to bring the crowds back.

    There is an end of an era ...and that's the way it is . Whelan is right ...they are ageing ...they were some outfit ...the best I have seen and they gave their followers many great days ...last time at the well....so many over 30s ., time waits for no man ..I would think more than 2/3 may go ..a new team will be built ..it will not be as good but it should be in the top 7 or 8. Galway should not get carried away ...remember when Mayo beat an also creaking Dublin side.

      Yeah. I don’t think Galway will underestimate Donegal. They’ll know there in for another serious battle. Could go either way… from a Galway man.

      I know it was "just" Louth that they were playing, but Donegal looked so good on the day to the point where it was impressive that Louth were competitive for as long as they were.

      Donegal were the most impressive team at the weekend. 23 points, only 3 wides. That kind of accuracy is very rare. And it felt like they didn't go above 3rd gear. Galway will need everyone fit and available. I'm edging towards Donegal

      My money is on Donegal....Galway already won their All Ireland against Dublin judging by their celebrations.

    Hurley is wondering why people are not travelling to games???? Maybe her publicly funded salary leaves her immune from the spiralling cost of keeping the lights on never mind maintaining a car.
    I'm a life-long supporter of our games but I genuinely hope the GAA gate receipts take a hammering after the decision by them and rte to fleece the paying public even further through pay-per-view.
    An amateur game run by volunteers is now ppv????
    FFS but I'm not a bit surprised.
    The players should now be demanding payment

    Ciaran Whelan is correct. If they banned passing to the keeper, it would encourage teams to press more.

    The hate for the ulster teams is wild, sooo defensive etc. Ulster final was the best provincial final. Armagh in the last few years have been involved in absolute classics.

    Fair play to Mickey Harte. Single handedly destroyed the game of Gaelic Footballer. If you didn't agree, yesterday's game was more proof.

    On hindsight it would have been nice if Galway had have given Dublin a guard of honor when they left the field. I’m a massive fan of Cluxton and the boys. Their our fellow gaeilge men, not big massive men imported from Bavaria. Great ambassadors and will be back again.

    Another game in Croke Park where David Clifford had, at best, an average game. In contrast, Shane Walsh lived up to his reputation as a generational player. There's class about everything he does. Great stat out there of the follow through of about 12 Galway lads from their under 20 all Ireland victory compared to Dublin's 2 in the same final.

    Donegal will not get involved in Galway’s defensive play. They are well fit to shoot from distance. They do concede scores and Galway are well fit to attack. Should be a great game!!

    Alot of the usual stale ol rhetoric. Like what casual fan is going to pay €45 for a stand ticket or the scandalous €35 to stand on the hill yesterday. Then charging a flat rate of €25 for a Leinster championship game between Westmeath and Wicklow. Not a word about the general gross discontent around the greed and mismanagement of GAA Go which has sickened anyone with a mere interest in the game. Putting the 2 games at the weekend and all the preliminary games the previous weekend showed complete distain to general supporters. As long as the greed continues people will continue to vote with their feet and rightfully so. But yeah change the rules just like you changed the structures and everything will be solved.....it will in it's arse. Of course McGuinness's name gets thrown in as the death knell of the game yet his team were far more innovative and intriguing about how they went about things than the higher than thou Kerry brigade who lets face it are an example of an Ulster team at its worst just with a phenom up front.

      Ticket pricing is a big thing, also no loyalty system so come all ireland GAa give most the tix to corporates, I have benefited from tix many times but I have also know countless supporters who got to lots of games and then cannot get a ticket for final and then the uncle and wife who haven’t been for 20 years gets giving a ticket from BOI or some other sponsors that turns ppl off.. why was the canal end not sold for €35 last week? Upper hogan €80 for a 2 day ticket.. hill €25 standard stand €45 .. Jesus they could try something they never make any marketing promotions or anything to incentivise ticket sales

    • @tomgreene1843
      @tomgreene1843 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, who will pay to watch this and other non matches....attendances say it all...the last time Croke Park had excitement was a Rugby match...TV will be down with the demise of the Dubs..too much compression of match fixtures ...ah the clubs ...if the main show is less popular the clubs will suffer financially eventually.

    • @phantomjac
      @phantomjac 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@tomgreene1843 the dubs got favourable funding because they feared they'd lose their support. Now they don't turn up for Leinster games and as a result a once fantastic championship has been destroyed and now they want to do the same with the excellent Ulster and Connaught championships.

    • @phantomjac
      @phantomjac 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@mickwhytee4 loyalty counts for little as far as the grab all are concerned. The use of GAA go and little regard for the older generation when it comes to paying cash at the gates. To add to your valid points. There is no way a standing ticket should be anymore than €20 apart from the AI final. Yet €25 general admission to stand or sit with another 200-300 souls at a Leinster first round game.

    Kerry are scorching hot 🔥 favourite to win their 39th Title,
    However id Prefer any of the other 3 remaining teams to win it,
    Namely Galway, Armagh or Donegal
    Otherwise it becomes as boring as Scottish Soccer Glasgow Celtic (Kerry),
    And Glasgow Rangers ( Dublin ).
