It’s a grand instrument. We are lucky in Hull to have it. I was privileged to have access to it during the 1970’s and 1980’s. It has been well maintained and cared for over the years.
May I please add that the main credit is due to Messrs Forster & Andrews of Hull, who originally designed and built the organ in 1910. It is not therefore purely a Compton organ. They only rebuilt the organ in 1951 after it suffered damage during the Second World War.
Omg Scott you worked that Organ out all it said 😯 I have looking for you 😃👍❤️ Merry Christmas With much Love and prayers admiration for the Great Classics 2023
This will be the highlight of the season for me! What could top a Christmas organ concert by Jonathan on a world famous organ such as this one? Jonathan has designed another beautiful program, with many of his own masterly arrangements. Tom will give us stunning visuals and sound, of course. Thank you, Scott Brothers, for this delightful Christmas treat! Saturday can't come soon enough! 🌞🎹🎧
Watching this 24 hours after having to cancel our church carol service, which I would have been conducting, due to covid. Seeing this has 'made' my Christmas, so thankyou very much. Happy Christmas to all at 'Scott Towers' 💓
Bravo 👏 please considering doing a special on the “making/behind the scenes “ of all camera setup and editing process that goes into a “finished “ video, so we can recognize all the work that is involved. Ty
It just sent shivers up my spine and made the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end and I was overcome with emotion from Jonathans expertise on this fantastic organ! Tom and Jonathan have brought us so much joy with their concerts. Thank you!
What a marvelous organ! Love the Gesu Bambino, also called the Christmas Rose by Pietro Yon. Both Scott Brothers should be declared an national treasure and given a knighthood by the Queen. Happy new year.
I'm sure this will outshine the highlight of any other online organist from the past year! The Scott Bros really deserve all the praise from throughout this year and beforehand!! HAPPY CHRISTMAS 👍👏👏😃
Jonathan Scott’s rendition of Christmas Celebration was absolutely beautiful!! Even when he tossed the bells it had the perfect realistic pitch..that was pure magic!!
Maravillosa música, maravilloso Jonathan, días antes de Navidad. Gracias, Tom.
John Compton was truly the "Father of the Diaphone,' and orchestral voicing in the UK; Yes, he knew Hope-Jones; however, Compton perfected voicing of many interesting "unit' stops. He built numerous concert organs as well as theatre and church instruments.
I used to binge watch A Christmas Story on Christmas Day but now I binge watch Scott Brothers Duo Christmas videos! Thank you for giving the world a Christmas gift of sharing your amazing talents year over year. The depth and breadth of the artistic talent in you two brothers is incomparable, unending and unequalled!
Wonderful concert as always Jonathan! I played the Hallelujah Chorus as my Postlude this evening at our Christmas Eve Service. Played it on our 4-manual, 125-rank organ, which also has orchestral stops. Congregation loved it!
Wonderful concert thank you so much for your glorious music making which lifts the spirits beyond belief. I’ve only just come across your music and now realise what I have been missing. Superb photography too from your talented brother! Glad I live in a detached, I can have you playing at full volume, it’s almost like being there!
I must say the UK City Halls are much different and beautiful than any city hall I’ve seen here in America. They don’t have exquisite organs like this or anything on this level.
Tom and Jonathan, as usual, you share with us amazing tonal and visual images. What a spectacular locality and instrument!! Those acoustics must be dramatically bouncing in the building and in your heads. Even we who participate vicariously are able to have an impression of your talents to make this a joyful season in spite of the miseries which abound around us. Bless you both, your family, and those you love. As others have pointed out, bless all who watch and listen. One memorable version of Jesu Bambino is also on TH-cam: Louise Natale, accompanied by Virgil Fox from the Command CD of years ago. Her version of O Holy Night is THE BEST!! but no one has posted it. DJ in Knoxville TN
Muchas gracias y Feliz Navidad!!💖👏👏👏💖😘😘
Wonderful Concert. I live in the San Francisco Bay Area and hopefully one day the The Exposition Organ that Edwin Lemare played will be out of storage and setup again and you will to play that wonderful instrument.
Fantastic Christmas concert, comprising a varied programme of brilliant music, including some of Jonathan’s own. Tom’s videography is outstanding, too.
I wish everyone a Merry Christmas and an excellent New Year with great health, peace and good music. Especially the Scott brothers, may God continue to bless you a lot who always make us happy with your videos. May all obstacles be overcome in 2022 and your success shine even more. My Christmas card will unfortunately arrive after Christmas due to the distance from countries and postal services. So from now on, consider my votes from here on TH-cam. A big hug from Brazil.
Very joyful. Since originally built in 1911, the organ fits the silent movie Era with all the sound effects. Like a 2XL theater organ (think "Mighty Wurlitzer "). Merry Xmas and Happy New Year to the Scott Brothers and everyone out there. From Chicago, U.S.A.
@@tonbezemer6655 They also did build classical and church organs but as you say were the only UK firm specialising in theatre organs (building 261 of these in the UK). After John Compton died in 1957 the classical organ section was sold to Rushworth & Dreaper and the theatre organ company became Makin Organs
As a semi-forcibly-retired music critic (few live concerts and opera performances these days), the Scott Bros have kept my musical heart and spirit alive during the Time of Covid Plague with their sunny disposition, their remarkable musical talent and creativity, and their fantastic videography of historic British church interiors and related religious artwork. I've viewed most of their concerts on my large screen TV and sound system via TH-cam videos, but this is the first time I've visited their TH-cam site with its ton of info on each concert. 😀
Thank you to both Jonathan and Tom for a wonderful musical and visual concert. Looking forward to future concerts in 2022! Merry Christmas to the both of you and your family.
I am lost for words having heard such a wonderful Christmas concert given by Jonathan Scott on The Hull City Hall organ. I think I can say this is one of the finest organs I have heard and the way it was brought to life by Jonathan. Well done and a Happy Christmas to both Jonathan and Tom. Terry Aubrey
Absolutely splendid concert. Thanks to both of you and happy holidays.Tom that was a wicked bell toss near the end, hope they survived. Love to both of you.
Definately the highlight of the concert year, magnificent organ, need to be in the hall to really appreciate it. Love the music Johnathan. Wishing you and Tom a great Christmas and a happy New Year
Again we have to thank the burghers of Kingston upon Hull for maintaining this stunningly grand instrument. Mr Scott is a brilliant organist, but he does depend a lot on the instrument he's playing to make these wonderful videos, along with his brother's sound and video. - again I have to say that the UK is so lucky to have so many glorious organs - particularly the municipal ones whose qualities are rather different, but no worse, than all those great cathedral and church instruments. I hope the citizens of Hull appreciate their musical heritage as much as we who are listening to this Christmas concert.
Fantastic Organ at Hull City Hall played by a fantastic organist. Thank you Scott Brothers for bringing us these videos. Have a very merry Christmas and a happy new year. Best wishes. Clifford. Blackpool.
I didn’t get a chance to wish you both the merriest of Christmases 🎅 🎄🥂🦢😊and the happiest coming year 2022 🌞💐☘️🌟🌈 You both richly deserve it for all the joy you bring us so selflessly 🎹🎹🎹🎖🥰
This stunning Compton organ is still one of the finest concert organs of its type in the UK; I saw this instrument before the new console and additions' nevertheless, under the creative gifts of this brilliant concert organist, this concert truly is GRAND indeed!
The Organ was built by the Hull firm of Forster and Andrews ,but rebuilt by John Compton after being damaged in World War 2 when the City Hall was hit by a bomb. So a good 75% including the casework is Forster and Andrews.
A joyous Christmas to the the uber talented and generous Scott brothers! Your pandemic concerts have been salve for my soul. Heartfelt thanks. By the way, I think I mistakenly touched the “dislike” response button instead of the “like” button. Big oops on me! May your new year be bright and harmonious in every way.
Thank you so much! Merry Christmas. My wife’s ancestors were from Hull. How wonderful to see and hear such a magnificent organ in Hull. You do it justice. Would love to have heard your concert in person!
What an absolute beast of an instrument and what a concert! Thank your Jonathan and Tom for another wonderful year of music! Merry Christmas from Nova Scotia, Canada.
I have enjoyed your wonderful music shared for us thru 2021. I am a new subscriber, continually blessed by your music choices and then how you and your brother present each instrument and church or hall that you choose. Thank you both for your gifts in music and wishing you a blessed Holiday Season.
What a beautiful concert! You are the most amazing organist I have ever heard. Greetings from Cañada. Merry Christmas 🌲 and Happy New Year. God Bless You 🙏
Waited all year for the jingle bell toss! Thanks for smiles. Missed Tom the elf though
I get sad when the concert ends. Ahaaaa... We want more! We want more!...

Christmas has started! It's official now. What unalloyed pleasure both Jonathan and Tom have given us these past crazy years...
Thank you Jonathan, very clever incredibly tanlented = "every perfect gift is from above"
You and your brother have kept me sane during this period of isolation with the wonderful concerts you have presented. Merry Christmas to you.
Standing Ovation. Well done.
NOTHING, but the best, as usual

Hear, hear. I second the motion!
Magnificent performance and a magnificent instrument. I trust no sleigh bells were harmed in the filming of this video.

Truly Wonderful!! I wait for this all year. Have to admit I was waiting for Jonathan to toss the bells over his shoulder. Love it.
Many thanks to Jonathan and Tom. 👍👏🎄🎅🎁
Thanks Jonathan and Tom. Merry Christmas to all!
"Food is a very important thing. I couldn't find a piece about turkey, so, I thought, a piece from Swan Lake was the next best thing" 🤣 😂

Thanks for the music and merry Cristmas to everyone
Feliz Navidad para todos
Ho apprezzato i fratelli Scott a Bergamo un mese fa. Grandi interpreti.
Buon Natale!

Thank you so much Jonathon, you helped me in the covid chaos, and now a wonderful Christmas.
Sleigh bells toward the end was an awesome touch and then the sleigh bells toss was perfect. Wonderful concert. Merry Christmas!
Last year, in one of their home concerts near Christmas time, he did the same thing! It was such a surprise, you couldn't help but burst out laughing!
That was funny, but also a bit stupid. The bells might get damaged. I would have just placed it next to me on the seat very quickly.
🎄 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
The last piece had it all, didn’t it! Thank you and bravo 🙌
Thank you to both Jonathan and Tom for a wonderful musical and visual concert. Looking forward to future concerts in 2022! Merry Christmas to the both of you and your family.
Wonderful playing on a marvellous instrument! 👌
What a treat for Christmas, a noble gift indeed. You have done it again, I am a big fan. A spectacular organ so good to hear it at long last.
Absolutely wonderful. The jingle bells were a nice touch. Thanks to you and Tom for sharing. Merry Christmas from the mountains of NC.
Marry Christmas! Bis bless you all.
A pleasure to hear! Amazing how you can imitate the sound of tinkling bells with this magnificent organ
What can we say. His skill is unmatched!!!
Jonathan, you really need to play this organ more for us. It really is a great instrument.
