    Why are these midwest emo playlists in youtube like a hundred times better than the ones on spotify? Goin trough a phase where I just wanna lay on the couch every day listening to these tunes instead getting motivated to do anything productive.

    this genre will always remind me of chilly fall in Illinois, and walking through soggy suburban neighbourhoods while hunched against the wind. it's the feeling of being completely and utterly alone. it's the feeling that life is meaningless and that there is nothing good in the world. it's all these silly cliches that you hear in these songs, but they're real. and they hurt. it's very moving to know that this music has changed me.

    • @SeanSMST
      @SeanSMST 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Even though I'm nowhere near the midwest, that feeling of being completely alone can't be expressed any other way than music. East Hastings imo is one of the best songs to describe this feeling. No matter how good someone is feeling, if they've just been at a party the week before or have a girlfriend, everyone feels this shit. Like we're just completely lonely in this world, even though we know that that's not the case. It's strange why deep inside us we feel like we always are.

      Always reminds me of biking around the neighbourhood with my dad in the evening in the late Manitoba fall.

      @mitchwnorowski9814 ปีที่แล้ว

      Always reminds me of my first girlfriend/love, 12+ years since and still never fails.😕
      My next comment isn't an insult, because they're on my top 10. But Saves The Day is =/+ Pop-Punk than Emo. Emo influenced for sure, but ask the man himself.🎸💜

    • @mitchwnorowski9814
      @mitchwnorowski9814 ปีที่แล้ว

      + the 1/4 Pop Punk songs actually well written, recorded & performed live. And I'm not talking about major label pop-punk, but indie p-punk label bands who are on like a 5 band label including the one that started. Post-Punk is up there too. Everything Fat Wreck Chords launched as friends of other bands, and they're passing on the torch to great bands like The Lawrence Arms & The FlatLiners. Can't mention FatWreck without giving a shout out to NUFAN and RIP Tony Sly (was my song writing idol all thru my teens).
      *PS* --- Seriously, if you dunno who Tony Sly is. Listen to the album "Hard Rock Bottom" by No Use For A Name. Singer/Song-Writer/Guitarist aka Frontman Tony Sly

    i am reminiscing on shit that happened to me in highschool and the people that i knew and the things that happened and that i did and didn't do. not sure if i will ever get a chance to right some of the immense awful dogshit wrongs that i made or the opportunities that i missed. i have friends now and they love me and want what's best for me, i still have nostalgia for the times that i didn't. like the time that i climbed out my window and shimmied down the tree, ran down the street and around the corner, into the field and down the train tracks, almost got robbed but didn't let that stop me, met up with you and regretted every second of it. sometimes i wish i could go back to those moments, maybe tell myself that it's better to stop and turn around, maybe tell myself that it's better to talk to her instead of her, listen to this instead of that, but i can't do that now. now i sit here, beer in hand bullshitting with my friends after a show where all of our friends came, and we loved them for it. i know that i will wake up in the morning, pet my dog, and watch the videos that they posted, cigarette in hand and tears in my eyes, reliving the fun that i had and the incredible people i have met. some of them aren't here anymore, but i know they are still with me, looking down on me, waiting. one day i will meet them again. i love them.

      Wish I could've had a childhood like that. I always here about the whole teenage coming of age story and shit, hanging out with friends at a party and sharing a beer with a girl you like or something, but I think that's all going away with time. The younger generations with gen z are a lot more isolated and missing out on experiences like that. Here's still hoping for something better in university or college or whatever.

    I don't know if it's because I'm gonna hit 30 in two years, but I have a feeling that the 90s kids are gonna have a midlife crisis and start listening to midwest emo musics just to remind them of their nostalgic, responsibility free like lifestyles.

    Man, what a title. I feel like it's so true, but at the same time I always want to hold onto hope that it isn't. Here's hoping I suppose.
    I don't know how I've managed to come across this genre of music and mixtapes, but I'm glad I did whenever it is I did. I feel like I can really relate to these songs, and the people in the comments. These songs are so cozy in a way, like I feel they're truly speaking to me. And if not that, then at least I vibe with the feelings they give. Such a nice genre of music, I've never felt so connected and close to music before now, it's great, but also kinda sad that I'm finding myself relating to music so down and low. If I coulda seen how I would feel as an adult I'd be so disappointed lol. Then again, I guess we all would if we had that kinda forsight.

    "Dad, I've got some questions
    (I have been stalling for too long.)
    One. Where the fuck is mom?
    (I don't want to talk about it now.)
    Two. Is she ever coming home?
    (I know you never meant for it to be like this.)
    Three. Why did she leave us?
    (I know you're trying your best.)"
    I know those are sort of the same question
    But I'm feeling sorry for myself
    Why am I always sad?
    I keep pointing fingers but karma always get back at me
    Sometimes, I lay awake thinking about the past and all the shitty things that happened
    The way it all turned out and the way that things are now
    What are scars but memories we can't forget?
    Well Mom, you gave me a lot of scars and they really haven't faded
    We all get your letters but you can't quite seem to get it
    We all forgive, but none of us can forget
    I hope you're doing well, maybe we'll talk again one day?
    I love you, I loved you never
    We'll be alright; we've made plans to hold our heads high
