My favorite car for sure.
Such a great legacy car. I would like to own the 1952 coupe version in racing blue with a cream roof :).
Very nice Ash mate a real classic. Would be a good model to review wondering who would make it
Stuart John
ERTL/Highway 61 Models did make the 1952/3 coupe and cabriolet models in 2002 in the 1/18 scale. However I think its time that Autoart should make all variants of the 1951 to 1953 models including the sedan version as this legacy classic from Hudson deserves to be in the Autoart range.
I think I will be writing to Autoart to suggest this idea for them to add to their range :).
Ash.
+BritishRail60062 I agree, another company needs to pick up the mounds & do a 2nd run. Personally I like the 1953 dark blue model (the blue hornet) and the 1952 yellow/cream one. A proper letter to the company address along with an email would be my route.
"Hey, was it floatin' like a Casillac? Or was it stingin' like a Beemer?"
Im confused 😂😂😂
haha you remember that? so cool xD
+Sverre Kolman that's one of Doc's line in Pixar's movie Cars. The character Doc Hudson is based on the '51 Hudson Hornet, has the name says
faialnuno nuno | haha i know. I was just finishing what doc said in the movie 😂😂. Believe me, i am 14 and i have a little brother of 8. We're watching that movie every single month 😂😂
oh ok I miss understood haha
I'm so used to the cars version that it looks weird without eyes xD
Same
R.I.P paul newman
Miss Derpsalot cars srsly
I suppose she knows that Paul was great race car driver.
I saw the prototype of the fabulous Hudson Hornet from "Cars" pass by me. I literally flipped out..... It was amazing.
Did I see a 4 speed automatic in this beauty? That's actually a pleasant surprise as 3 speed autos were the 'norm' at the time and a 4 speed would have been a fairly big deal. I really love this vehicle, I hope you enjoy owning and driving it.
Actually Hornets did have 4 speed GM supplied Hydramatics .The 1951 had the single range ,52-1954 had the dual range. 1955-1957 are Hash built after the merger with Nash and had lost the handling and other great attributes of the stepdown Hornet. Some 1954's used the Borg-Warner 3 speed as the GM Hydramatic plant burnt down in August 1953.Hydramatic 4 speeds were used in Hudson , Willys, Nash ,Pontiac ,Oldsmobile ,Cadillac, Lincoln, and Kaiser .So You are incorrect in stating that 3 speed autos were the norm if you mean automatics. A lot of the 3 speed manuals had Warner overdrive giving an additional range on 2nd and 3rd .
I have a hudson
kay jayyy but your husdson is borke
And look who we have for a Crew Chief !
I was 18 and my boss owned 1952 Hudson Hornet and it was a beautiful maroon automobile. I got to ride in a couple of times and was beautiful inside. I owned a 1930 Model A Ford coup and it was nice to drive that a i gave one hundred dollars cash for it. With it i got a bill of sale and the title and drove it home no License plate no insurance.
I'm with John Texas, even though I grew up well after Hudson bit the dust in all my research on the Step-down Hudson's a weak frame never came up as a flaw at all, in fact from I heard they were made like bank vaults.
I actually own one now and can confirm this with first hand experience.
Amazing car, wish it was still made today
We were a Hudson family. We at various times had a smaller Pacemaker for commutation, then Hornets or the really Luxury Commodore 6 or 8's. ANY of the Hudsos would go around any curve 20 Mph or more FASTER than any other American car and most foreign cars.
It took a Jaguar to keep up with us.
And crash protection? Hey, the body was WELDED to the frame....this was a TANK which took turns like a sports car. A big flathead 6 !!!. And a oil filled "wet" cluth and dual safety brakes. We always had stick shifts with ovrrdrive which was like 6 speeds. A lower rear end ratio. The 7X racing cam, shaved high compression heads. Jahns pistons and of course, TWIN H POWER Dual carbs, but we substituted even larger carburetors
and a much hotter and very re-curved ignition system. That folks would blow away ANY Olds 88 (Even if Jackie Brenston was at the wheel of the Olds)
But even if you had a souped up 88, if you got into a curve against a Hudson
you were finished....
The Hudson Twin H engine was 308 cu. in.
I found one of these in the woods all destroyed and beat up 😔
FirstCosmic Man 😍😍😍😍
FirstCosmic Man it probably Hudson hornet
FirstCosmic Man keep it or find someone to tow it
"Cars" anyone?
No
no.
Jose Rivera | yes 😋
Jose Rivera yes
Yes.
Great video, narrative, and angles! Only request is potentially some quiet time in the filming where we can hear the sound of the engine/exhaust, ride.
@ 4:00 "the low center of gravity story"... includes the step-down frame, too.
Hornets regularly beat Olds "Rocket" 88's on stock car racing...
that's right, kids... a flathead inline 6 beat an OHV V8.
The last days of old technology are always better than the first days of new technology.
My friend Dan ward is going to be working on this beauty in a few months.
one of my dream cars
Oh, gosh I want that car.
What a great production!
That's how NASCAR was born, for the moonshiners often raced each other on the side just for fun. One thing led to another, and the back country racing became a professional sport. In it's day, the Hornet was nigh unstoppable, fast, nimble, and well balanced, it could leave the big V-8s in its wake no problem, especially with the legendary 7X racing engine under the hood, an option one could buy on the hornets coming off the showroom floor as well as the track.
awesome car
I wish my hudson was in that good of condition.
You Have a hudson?
*Sports Limo Category?* that's a new one on me.
What beautiful car!
Настоящий автомобиль!!!
What a freakin awesome car.
A favorite of the "50s moonshiners, no doubt since the weekend race car drivers at the fairs, were transporting untaxed alcohol during the week.

Sensodyne geht mit auf die Eier
What is a 4.5 liters displacement? Liters should never ever ever be used in an American car. What an insult to Hudson Motor cars. Care to put that in American English Cubic Inches?
Little more than a gallon
styldsteel1 4500 cm³ ≈ 275 cu in
Country-Proud ignorant
Hudson engines came in 4 flavors in 1951. The 8 cyl was 254 cubic inches, the full pressure 6 cyl oil lube system came in 232, 262 and lastly the 308 Hornet engine.
You would need to multiply by 61.5 to find cubic inches.
way to make a cool car boring
