I have a request for the CEO that may be a new product for them... We ride in high avalanche terrain and always have air bags on, Riding hard in steep demanding terrain means you need to move fast and jump around on the sled to avoid wrecks- I tried a TekVest under the AvPack and it was cumbersome, I wasn't as nimble, as the Av pack is 15+lbs to start with, add layers, pieps, vest.... nearly everyone I ride with refuses to wear tekvest because of these issues- for a single event spot, like hucking a big drop, yes, but for every day I'd love a "vitals only" that takes into consideration the pack. Have they tried removing the armor where the pack is?

Hi Mike and thanks for taking the time to comment. We have offered the Crossover and Outback models for avy pack rider for 5 years now. Dealers don’t stock them so easy to miss. Pop me an e-mail and I would love to discuss the mountain market with you. We are also working on a brand new model that may be right up your ally. steve@tekrider.com Cheers Steve Brand. CEO-type

Please keep doing what you are doing. I lost my husband in a snowmobile accident on Feb 7/09. He had 3 different fatal injuries that were caused by broken ribs. Just coming against the handle bars can cause broken ribs. PLEASE wear a tek vest if you ride. Your loved ones are waiting at home.

What an interesting find; I was just searching for riding vests (for my Dual Sport Moto rides) and this popped up. I recognized that field artillery patch as soon as I saw it, I was stationed in Germany and attached to the Pershing Units in 83. First Unit was 1/41st and the 2nd was 2/9th, both in Southern Germany, my base was called "Bismark" in a small town called Schwabish G'muned, an hour south of Stuttgart. We wore the BDU and OD Green uniform you showed.

Absolutely, Test Vest best on the market hands down. Now that I have one I won't ride without one. Makes not only for safety but also gives my back a much more comfortable ride.

I wear mine on On my dual sport. Where I live in Northern Ca. the trails are cut through dense Manzanita brush and when they cut the manazanita they tend to make punji sticks out of them, that will go right through you like a knife. The vest will also protect you from mere tip overs where you might otherwise bruise you.
The thing that amazes me is that I've never seen anyone else wearing one on the trails.
P.S. I've got a pair of large sleeves for the vest for sale cheap if you need a pair.

Unfortunately, my uncle passed away in Nov. 2013. My mom said he went to basic at Ft. Dix, NJ. Then follow on training at the Redstone Arsenal in Alabama. She thinks he was stationed in or around Munich in '71/'72, she's not 100% sure though.

Adventure Streaming Guys, thanks for your service. My dad was stationed in Germany too. He was drafted in '66, then he enlisted (had to do 3yrs instead of 2) so he could "kind of" pick what he wanted to do (Combat Engineers). After serving in Vietnam (3-'67 to 3-'68 w/25th ID) he still had about 10 months of service time left. He was stationed in Nuremberg, 4-'68 to 1-'69, my grandma left the Christmas Tree up til he got home. He wasn't involved with missiles. He always says he went to Germany to relax and drink beer. He'll be 73 this summer!

TekVests aren't cheap but neither are medical bills. My co-pay / deductible is more then the cost of a TekVest which is why I plan on getting one.

I have read the #1 cause of death in Snowmobiling is drowning Of course you can avoid this if you don't cross water or frozen water.. Not an option in many regions..
It is my impression that the high density padding recasts when you hit asphalt hard.. I.E. Motorcycle accident.. Last Fall I bought a cheap Chinse motocross padded vest and pants with mesh .. Made to go under motocross pants and shirt.. But my plan is to wear it on a street bike when it's so hot out you only want to wear a T-shirt and pants. The Idea is hitting the pavement with plastic armor not my skin.. Same thing .,, I often ride with out gloves but that is a bad idea too..

Thanks for the comment Mike. I know the last few years the number one cause for sledding accidents has been excessive speed and loss of control...this type of impact is where the TEKVEST really helps.

@@AdventureStreamingGuys I will agree a TEKVEST is a good idea but it's not gonna help that much if you hit a tree at 50 MPH .. I tend to slow down a little in the Woods but will ride faster in Open areas..
Back in the 1970's people raced from Bar to Bar and had drinks at every bar.. I know there were accidents but I don't know Statistics..
I had a girl friend who used to Snowmobile .. Her Family came up to a T Intersection and 3 sleds had run off the end of the road and hot a tree killing 3 of them.. You can't go fast if you can't see what is ahead too .
