- Rcsi Overseas aptitude test for nurses explained in Malayalam language..
In recent years Due to humongous demand in Overseas Nurses Registering in Ireland, Adaptation and Assessment programme wasn’t able provide sufficient dates to meet the demand. Thus in 2015, Professor Thomas Kearns, at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) developed the RCSI Aptitude Test for Overseas Nurses .It was approved by NMBI following extensive reviews by National and International bodies.Since its launch in 2015 RCSI Aptitude test acts as a Gateway for Overseas Nurses before acquiring Nursing Registration. It also tests the suitability and knowledge of the candidate to register Under General Nurse category with NMBI.
Through this Post we will divide the whole Process in 5 simple steps.
Application Process - Candidate should complete application form & Upload 4 important documents - NMBI Decision letter,Passport photo page , passport photo , Proof of fees paidInvitation For Aptitude Test - After assessing your Document and application . Invitation is Sent to the applicant to attend the Test. The week prior to the test, a REMINDER email is sent to each applicant on the list for the test. A reply must be received by 10am (Irish time) on the Wednesday prior to the test. The applicant must keep a good track of visa requirements which is available on www.djei.ie .Theory test - MCQ Test - Results will be published within 72 hours if the test happens during weekdays and results will be published on following tuesday at 2pm for weekend tests.A candidate can only pass to next stage - Practical stage after successfully passing stage one.Practical test - OSCE Test -Results will be published within 72 hours if the test happens during weekdays and results will be published on following tuesday at 2pm for weekend tests.Practical stage is based on scenario /situation based which is discussed in much detail later in this post.Contacting NMBI - once you pass in both exams (Theory & Practical ) - results will be issued to NMBI and candidate is requested to pay NMBI Registration Fees which will provide them with NMBI pin number.
How many parts is Aptitude Test?
It is divided into two parts -
Theory Test /Knowledge Test /MCQ testPractical / OSCE test
Inorder to proceed to Second Part(OSCE Test) the Candidate must Successfully Pass Part One(MCQ/Theory Test).
How Many Attempts will i Get?
For any Specific Candidate a maximum of Two attempts are allowed at each of the two parts of the Aptitude Test. Eg - If a Candidate fails in Theory test - They have to re sit the whole Theory Test. But if a Candidate Fails in Practical /OSCE Test they have to re sit the OSCE stations Failed.
What can i expect in Practical Test/OSCE Test?
RSCI Practical Tests are carried out in a Simulated environment. It is advised that candidates should be present as if you are in a professional working environment.Great news is each applicant is assessed by 28 assessors in 14 independent groups of two.
Since its launch in 2015 almost 2500 professional applications are made from 25 countries.
Success rate on First Attempt according to RCSI Analytics - almost 80%
Success rate on Second Attempt according to RCSI Analytics - More than 91%

What can i expect During Theory /MCQ Test(Multiple Choice Question test)?
It is an Online Assessment to assess your Professional Knowledge and it Weighs your general understanding through multiple choice questions. It Reminds of a TV Programme - Who wants to become a millionaire ?
The candidate has 3 hours to answer 150 questions. Every Question has 4 multiple choice / answers and only One will be the right answer and In order to Successfully move to Stage Two / OSCE Exam the candidate has to score above 50% marks.
What is an OSCE Test Station (Objective Structured Clinical Examination)?
It is a Simulated Practice Setting which is setup as a clinical setting and has necessary clinical equipment - called as a station. Every candidate is required to complete 20 stations with minimum of 14 stations.Every Station assesses different competencies required for General Nursing. Before you enter each station you need to refer Descriptor Sheet which is present both inside and outside the station and can be reviewed during your test.Maximum of 10 minutes is allowed in every station whether or not the aim/competency of the station is achieved.
Two assessors will be present in every station.In some station the assessors might play a vital role in becoming a patient or family.In Every Station Candidate will be assessed on their competency.Every Station is based on Scenario / Situation Based which will be presented to the candidate prior entering the station.The candidate can review the Scenario through the Descriptor Sheet.Read full blog in www.hirehood.com
