    This guy has been prosecuting cases while Shmidt was still in high school and surely can and would be a better, more experienced as DA. He has my vote.

    I literally laughed out loud when he characterized Mike Schmidt as an absentee boss. Let's hope that, in the upcoming election, the people of Portland and Multnomah County will choose to make him permanently absent.

    I would vote for a doorknob before I vote for Schmidt. At least a doorknob serves some semblance of a purpose.

    No wonder crime and drugs are out of control in Portland! We need a DA that takes crime seriously and stop making it easier for criminals.

    I moved here 8 years ago with many hopes and I’ve seen fast deteriorating conditions. There are pdx citizens who say that it’s safe in Portland and the media makes everything up. Well being a former LE officer and spending a lot of my time in pdx let me tell ya….it is not safe. I said that out loud a few months ago and I knew things had really changed for me because I can handle most things but there’s too much going on here and drugs is contributing to a lot. Yes the citizens deserve better.

      Curious if you were aware of the PD shortage they forgot to report? See my comments above. Love to hear your take, as a former LE, on that particular kink in our System?

      @Charlesm3724 if u want to believe that then ok. I think what caused it is social feelings, lack of accountability and horrible politics. A lot of ppl don’t wanna come to that truth. You are assuming a lot about me and that’s ok. If all the transplants left this place would still be a shit hole in 2023.

    • @jonesfirearmscoaching
      @jonesfirearmscoaching 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@slyons-uf3cy well to be honest although there is a shortage it doesn’t matter when it comes to this unique problem pdx is having. We could have 500,000 officers on the streets of pdx but it wouldn’t even be effective. Why? Because there is bad policy with prosecuting crimes. I believe in compassion but many things have gotten way out of hand. I’ve been a victim of crime in Portland 3 times in the past 3 years. So yea police shortage or not it doesn’t matter if crimes are not being prosecuted but then again if there were more it would certainly free up time for officer to actually investigate and follow up on things but then again if the policy does not work for public safety then back to square one.

      @@jonesfirearmscoaching I'm sorry to hear you've been a victim three times in the last 3 years, my brother. However, when I said "PD shortage" I meant public defender shortage. They aren't prosecuting these lower-level crimes right now ostensibly because there's not enough public defenders & the 6th Amendment to the Constitution requires that people who are incapable of providing their own defense be provided with that defense. This is why they are dismissing cases, they claim.

    Interesting thoughts from inside the walls of justice. There should be a path forward for the DA office and the PPB. Public safety should be first and foremost but there can’t be indiscriminate violations of civil rights. This needs scrutiny and accountability to ensure that Portland and Multnomah County can come back with safety and dignity. The citizens deserve it. The disenfranchised deserve it. Just an observation after living there for 4 years. I grew to love the city but the last 5/6 years has taken a toll. Get back to common sense and pull together like the great metropolitan region you’re known by for. 💙🇺🇸💙🇺🇸💙✌️

      Yeah he kind of just blah blah blah'd his way through how he would defend free speech rights, cause cops are never going to be ok with legit protests. My personal experience is as soon as cops show up that's when peaceful protests turn to riots.

    I was listening to this Interview, until i wasn't; when he said something that sent me thinking about one scenario he depicted & it was either totally made up or at minimum, embellished? His son may "CHOSE" to walk from Lincoln HS down to the Transit Mall on 6th&5th, but he sure doesn't HAVE to walk by fent users to get there. Lincoln is super close to the Max line that travels past Pioneer Place AND Goose Hollow, where several buses also take people down to the Mall. Also, Bus #15 goes right down SW Salmon stopping directly in front of the School. In any direction, he could get on Transit within just 2 or 3 blocks, not needing to "walk" all the way down there! Frankly, that whole story just sounded contrived to me, so as to complain about drug paraphernelia? I'm not saying it doesn't exist, but i thought he was just making up a more 'personal' element for more sympathy or something??

      Possible, but how long would he have to just hang out at stops to do his journey? Will he have to wait 29 minutes for a bus on a 30 minute schedule and then wait again for a MAX? Or the other way around? The walk may be better than being predictable in waiting.

    • @marmac7619
      @marmac7619 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@jenniferpearce1052 For one, I doubt he's on a time schedule to get home (which is what he was talking about - 'FROM Lincoln TO the Mall). 2) 18th AVE is heavily traveled & visible. 3) & most important: Max & the #15 & 6-especially- are "frequent service" during day hours. Frequent Service is EVERY 15 Mins! He could literally walk about 3 blocks to Goose Hollow and have his pick of either the Max, or 4 of the other buses that also stop less than half block from one to the other. Now he may LIKE to walk to the Mall, maybe with his friends or something, so they can spend more time together? but he absolutely does not HAVE to walk ALL the way to the BUS MALL unless he CHOOSES to. It just wreaked of him USING this to score points against the scourge of fent & why we need HIM. Like i said: disingenuous, a word he also used against Schmidt, oddly ...
