It’s so sweet that you have an old soul😉❤️❤️🎶🎶🔥🔥👌🏾
Jody Warley .. she's the queen !!
Shalamar was the jam back in the day!!
Fun Fact about this group Shalamar:
the third guy seen on the album cover on the screen during this video is Jeffrey Daniel. He is the guy that showed Michael Jackson how to do the Moon Walk. Jeffrey did not invent the Moon Walk. But, Jeffrey bought it back to style in the 80s. The Moon Walk was invented in the 1930s.
This takes me back to my roller skating days!
Yes. I miss those days. Great beat for it too!
Two of the members are former Soul Train dancers. Jeffery Mc Daniels and Jodi Whatley! Jeffery actually introduced the moonwalk to Michael Jackson.
Oh, yeah! I just wrote that😅 sorry didn't see you already wrote that, but yeah!!😊 I saw them sing this at Disneyland 😍 it was so great!!! Fun fun!!
Jody Watley, Jeffrey Daniels
This is a fun song. Shalamar always made hits. My favorite in the group though is Jody Watley. You should check out some of her songs like "Don't you want me" and "Looking for a new love". Thank you for another great reaction.
The majority of Shalamar's songs were written by their labelmates, Dynasty and Lakeside.
The production is from Leon Sylvers, who also played bass, and was a founding member of Dynasty. Leon produced most of The Whispers hits from 1980 to 1984.
Of course, he was part of the group The Sylvers, but he left when Dick Griffey offered him a key production role for SOLAR Records, to which all of these artists belong. SOLAR is an acronym for, Sound Of Los Angeles Records.
@MufarosButifulDawtrs And to you, my friend!!
Great correlation between Off The Wall and this record! Black disco went out with a BANG!
Yes this a classic! Shalamar is great 80's group .👍🏼🤩
Another masterpiece by Shalamar! Can’t beat that 80s production 🔥 Their lyrics were always so beautiful and meaningful 💗 check out ‘I can make you feel good’ by them.. such a jam 💃🏻
Yes! I love that song too.
@@sassysapphire1234 I defy anyone to sit down when that song is played! 😀💃🏻
Oh, and I love your Profile picture I finally get to see you up close. Like...Hi Kerry for the first time😁
@@sassysapphire1234 😂😂 thank you lovely! 🥰 and yes hiiiii 👋🏼 🤣❤️

10 out of 10, is epic
Told you old school R&B is best!!
Jack just keeps bringing us the hits! I love this reaction again.💃💃💃❤❤❤
Two thumbs up if I could.
@@Alisha1686 Now I need me some Troop- All I do is think of You.
@@sassysapphire1234 Oh yes ma'am
Leon Sylvers, III. One of the best producers to ever do it. He has a really great interview on the Questlove Supreme podcast....check that out if u have time..
Definitely cookout wedding reception vibes
Yessss!!! This is my all time favorite by Shalamar!!! Missing the 80's!!! 💯❤🔥
This takes me back to the late 90s when l worked at Old Navy.😄 l heard this a dozen times on my shift.
I miss the 90’s.
@@aliyahburnette8231 l do too! Those were the days.
I was wondering why I knew this song!! They must have played it on old navy commercials
Reminds me of me roller skating at the skating rink as a preteen!! They don’t make music like this anymore….so sad 😢
Yes sir the reactions are coming back
One of the best tracks of the 80s, full stop. Other essential Shalamar: "There It Is", "Take That to the Bank", "The Second Time Around".
FYI: The great Leon Sylvers III was their producer in the late 70s & early 80s. He also played bass on those albums.
Takes me right back to my youth days!👍🏾🤩
Takes me back to my child hood..😏
Lol the mighty Jack you're voice is mad deep. Still holding it down since the bone thugs days, keep going. ✊
Can't recall if you've reacted to Second Time Around by Shalimar, but if you haven't, I think you'll like it.
That’s my fav Shalamar song!
@@jareds2273 Mine too!
THIS
Yes and you MUST see them perform which you will on 2nd time. Btw they started as SoulTrain dancers (Jody & Jeffrey).
Such a great funky song!
TY BE IN DEES SKEETS. 😄😄
My favourite group. Check out group member Jeffrey Daniel dancing to this in Top of the Pops, UK. Take That To The Bank is another wicked tune.
Love your cute reaction! This band always reminded me of Debarge.
My childhood lol yes. Been to a number of weddings where this was played as the walkout song for the wedding party at the reception.
They were the "First" Reality Group to come out of Music. They were discovered on Soul Train as Dancers. Don Cornelius decided to create his own Record Label called SOLAR (Sound Of Los Angeles Records), and Shalamar was born. Jeffrey Daniels quit and was replaced by Jermaine Stewart who also danced on American Bandstand. He left for a Solo Career and worked with Mikey Craig on Culture Club who discvoered him who sang Backup on Miss Me Blind by Culture Club. He had his own hits like The Word Is Out, and "We Don't Have To Take Our Clothes Off" that was also covered by The UK Girlband Clea (Chloe Lynsey Emma Aimee) who didn't make Girls Aloud. It was also voted by Glamour Magazine along with "Let's Wait Awhile" by Janet Jackson as one of the best songs to promote Safe Sex in the 1980's. Sadly Jermaine died of AIDS. Jody is a Solo Artist but I don't know what happened to Jeffrey Daniels or Howard Hewitt. Jody along with Banarama were the only Females who sang "Do They Know It's Xmas" as part of Band Aid as well. In later years a UK Pop Star named Kavanaugh aka "Kav" also covered this song as well. In the UK it's a common practice for UK Boyband/Girlband Solo Stars to cover obscure R & B Hits. For The Songwriters who still own the songs if they are lucky enough make "Bank".
Hi
Make that move , there it is , friends , take that to the bank are some more upbeat Shalamar songs to check out.
Jody was here, Honolulu, and sang this during her show. Played coy that she didn’t know the 2nd verse. If you know, then you know the read there
Love Shalamar! Dancing in the Sheets, The Second Time Around and Make that Move are also great danceable songs by them. You should also check out their solo stuff like I’m for Real and Say Amen by Howard Hewett or Friends and Real Love by Jody Watley.
i lived through this era of music young bro! these were pimpness music back in the day
Jeffrey Daniels Did an freestyle dance to this song on TOTP 1983 i think, he did the moonwalk before michael jackson
First time viewer, love that you're detail oriented with your listening. Definitely agree that the lyrics are perfect for the vibe at hand, this one's absolutely a cookout classic
Yes, a classic. I remember this from my roller disco days, lol.
One of my fav songs ever! Happy to have you back Jack 😀
There’s nothing like the music from the 80s🥰🥰💕💕
Thanks for this jack..love this one🥰🥰🥰
BIG D IN DA HIDOUSEE!! Did you like it??
@@Alisha1686 yes ma'am ❤️😀
@@demetriadee That's wassup
Omg! A MILLION THANK YOUS FOR THIS REACTION!!🥰
It's been a minute since I remembered I asked for this request after you watched their other video months ago.
There was an actual video to this song.
The guy with the Afro is Jeffrey Daniels, who did the Moonwalk as a Soul Train dancer. Michael Jackson saw it...called him and asked him to come teach him how to do it. He asked Daniels if he could use it as a signature move that he wanted to debut on the Motown 25 show. ....And the rest is history.
I love this jam. Get into it, yes!!
This is another picnic playlist must have!
My other favorites by them, which were also big hits here in the States, was ?Make That Move", "The Second Time Around", and "Right In The Socket".
Yeaaaa Jack!! 👏🏾🙂
This is more like it!! Classic!! 💣👍🏾
Great reaction too...I know you know good music 🎶 when you really hear it! 😊😁
Thank you Jack reacts for reacting to my all time favorite jam⭐⭐⭐⭐
Paul Wall sampled For the Lover in you. The song is called, Swangin in the Rain..Mary J Blige did a remake of this song.
This is one of my go to songs when I'm in an 80s vibe! And Mase sampled this song back in 99! It's called Get ready Black Street is singing the chores to it
The baseline! 🔥🔥🔥
ANOTHER reaction. YESSS!!! 😂 Was rocking with you, all the way from the Bahamas, since you and Cam was in the car Jack. Great reaction 😉
This song is my ish!!!
Guh yaaaasssss😘
One of my favs! Love it💕😍
The Second Time Around is another great song from them , as is Show Me by lead singer Howard Hewett. The first " moonwwalker" Jeffrey Daniel is rocking the fro, aka The Popalong Kid. Also listen to Somewhere theres a love for me.
The lady is Jody Watley. 😊❤🎧
This is my song!!! 👏🏾👏🏾 always on the playlist
I love to see you grooving while discovering music❤️
Howard hewett really took it to the top when he went solo and daaamnn did he fly very high with his hits... no doubt👍👏👏
Happy to see you're back doing reactions 🤗❣️❣️
Jack, I clicked so fast! I love Shalamar, brings back so many good memories 😊. Please react to Second Time Around and their slept on ballad Somewhere There’s A Love 🔥🔥🔥🔥
You should do a reaction to the group 'Switch'. Their song 'There'll Never Be'
That song is so well arranged I absolutely love that song.
I was just thinking about that song that my moms song I’m 33 and that was my favorite song when I was a little girl.
I loved today's video can't wait for the next one 👊🤘👍✌😀
The female singer is Jody watley you have to listen to her 1st solo song LOOKING FOR A NEW LOVE .
Seen them live once, and the lead singer Howard Hewitt live 20 year after as a solo act and he was amazing!
I also love Howard Hewett’s gorgeous vocals!!!❤
Shalamar - I can make you feel good, This is for the lover in you
Howard Hewett (Lead singer of Shamalar) - Show Me, I'm for real.
You're such an old soul, too bad you didn't come along during my time, which was when this song came out. I was a teen at the time.
Nice wedding dance and reception song.
This is my jam!!💥💥💥
Love Howard Hewitt’s voice
Kinda similar to Stevie Wonder
Jack you must check out Somewhere there's a love just for me. By Shalamar!! The vocals will definitely knock you out your chair. Trust!!
I just requested that same song lol 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Listen the vocal harmonics on the bridge (@ around 3:41)...FIYA!!!
You made my day. Real talk. Thank you Jack Jack. Could you please react to Take that to the Bank by Shalamar?
I agree Alisha.
@@sassysapphire1234 Hi sweetie
Classic🔥📈
A classic jam! 👏
Shalamar eventually disbanded and went solo. I would highly recommend you check out Howrd Hewitt's song Once, Twice, Three Times. Talk about true grown folk next level music. You won't be sorry.
Jeffrey Daniels introduced the moonwalk to this song💯
OMGGG! So weird! I subscribed yesterday, cause I just loved your janet jackson reactions, and then I was looking for "a night to remember" reaction but couldn't find it. Was about to write you a message so you could react to it.....!
Made my day :D Oh, and could you please react to the video where Jeffrey Daniel from Shalamar dance on "Top of the pops" to this song?
He went to perform alone in the UK, and did the "backslide" later known as the moonwalk! MJ was very inspired by Jeffrey, they also worked together. Anyway, this performance went viral at that time, he had to come back to the show to perform again. Watch it, a classic!!!
A nice blast from the past. I think you'll like Jodi Watley "Looking For A New Love".
Take that to the bank. Best song from them
Great one! I’ve been missing your reaction videos!
Me too. 🙋🏾♀️
Jody Watley's solos are amazing as well. Try out Don't you want me.
This song was played when my husband and I entered our wedding reception.
Make that move !!! Please ✔👌👌👌👍
Sooo good seeing your reactions! This group is awesome! You should react to Dead Giveaway or Take That To The Bank
True classic👌🏽
Hiya Jack...you really need to react to more Shalamar tunes...they are awesome!!! Hopefully going to see them next year with Heatwave 🎼🎶🎵😎👌
"I Can Make You Feel Good", please. To be fair, the lyrics often aren't that much in dance songs like this. Party, having a good time, and hitting the right girl or guy to make the world a perfect place, mostly. I think this is structurally a pop song in dance guise. Both listenable and danceable. :)
Shalimar is one of my favorites. Heres a few that you should react to:
Make that move
Take that to the bank
Dead giveaway
Dancin' in the sheets
Where are the reactions to Debarge? So many great songs in their catalog.
You should read up on what they went through.
Look for the song that have videos with it.
Fun fact:the guy with the afro (Jeffrey daniels) taught Michael the moonwalk
Jody Watley! was a dream woman of mine!
You gotta react to Howard Hewett's songs Once Twice Three Times, Say Amen and Show Me!
Jammmmm
Jody Watley was irreplaceable in Shalamar imho. Love so many songs from Jody Watley's solo career: Don't you want me / Some kind of lover / Still a thrill.
Plz react to a few of both lead singers Jody Watley & Howard Hewitt's solo songs which were all big hits! Jody: "Dont you want me?", "Looking for a new love", and "Everything," Howard Hewitt: "Show Me"
Please react to shalamar's "I don't wanna be the last to know"
It's Blaque's "bring it all to me" sample
I love Mary J Blige version of this song.
She did it justice
You need to check out Second Time Around and Make That Move by them next.
I'm a fan of your reaction video .. can i recommend u a song from the 90's, its a one hit wonder from Charles & Eddie - Would I Lie To you. U wont be dissapointed!
I really like Second Time Around by them. Check it out if you haven't already.
Yellow looks good on you jack and the hat to da back like it
