When they announced that one of WD3 features would be to play as any NPC, I saw the disaster right away. Underdeveloped story, very basic cinematics and generic dialogues written to be said tons of times in every situations. Coming from Ubisoft, it was too massive a concept to be done in a good way.
Ironically Ubisoft has done this before (sorta) with the perma-death rotating group of generic soldiers in the original Tom Clancy games like Rainbow Six and Ghost Recon. However, those games also knew their limitation of only basic storytelling since you can’t have any sort of central protagonist, which was why they presented all their scenarios and stories entirely as if they were real counterterrorism or military operations. You sit down, get a briefing of the mission, select your team and your gear, do the mission, extract. But there’s no room for any sort of genuine storytelling. And it is notable that the first Tom Clancy game to try having more of a narrative and be more like a playable Tom Clancy novel rather than just a Milsim is Splinter Cell, and that game did limit you to a specific main character: Sam Fisher, who is a fleshed out character (Michael Ironside even providing a lot more detail and character himself to make Sam more interesting). I really wanted to love WDL but after forcing myself to love it for about a month or so I just can't say too many good things about it. The few good features include the key feature of the game, the ability to recruit any NPC as a playable characters with a list of personal randomised traits. Another good feature is the different relationships characters can have; you can encounter a person you've sent to the hospital before, you can encounter a friend or a relative of a team member of yours, or someone you've saved previously and they'll hate/like you respectively. Last feature worth mentioning is the satisfaction of knocking out an enemy with a non-lethal weapon and then executing them with a lethal gun, but that's a feature many games have, like Hitman.
Honestly the order for me goes watchdogs. Watchdogs bad blood. Watchdogs bloodline. Watch dogs 2 and then leigon. I really think the darker tone works better and if they focused on aiden I think the games popularity would rise. Especially since bloodline did so well. I want them to make a watch dogs and have it with aiden again
The franchise has all the potential to make a comeback, I love going back to Watch Dogs 1 and will probably replay Watch Dogs 2. If done right, Watch Dogs 4 can definitely sell well with the right direction and Ubisoft going back and seeing what made Watch Dogs 1 and 2 great

What makes it even more tragic is that bloodlines is fucking awesome It has a great story and the gameplay of Aiden and wrench are so cool. All the side content was good and they even added small texts and audio files only in dlc and some of them were kinda funny like the wrench memes of rampart. So much detail+ awesome characters+ great gameplay+ fantastic story= one of the best dlcs I’ve played in a while. Bloodlines should have been the base game

I just started playing watchdogs 2 and honestly it's one of the best games I've ever played. Good writing, fleshed out characters, extremely good concept, smooth movement and fun music.
it's just sad because legion has song 2 by blur but you can't access MP3 player because there are no functional phone and also there are barely any stores with interiors (excluding pubs)
The first 3 were great but Knight was a huge let down. For whatever reason so many people have forgotten how bad that game was and now love it. I think it'd be great to have another person tear it apart again and remind everyone.
I remember the first time that I watched the Watch Dogs 1 trailer I was surprised and people were calling the "gta killer" well the rest is very well known.
really sad to hear this... loved this series and it will always have a special place in my heart. i hope it will comeback at some time during the end of the ps5 era
Another point I want to mention is the UI of Watch Dogs Legion is so terrible that it almost looks like a mobile game. It is unbelievable cuz Watch_Dogs has a very decent UI and Watch_dogs 2 is peak in glitch art.
When I play a single player open world narrative game, I feel like I am the main character, whether that’s geralt from the Witcher or link from Zelda. Having more than 1 plays ale character ruins the immersion for me
It's because of CalArts; the aesthetic is disgusting, yet it permeates ALL things now; just look at the new Saint's Row reboot, that is the epitomy of this perverted influence.
The problem with Legion is the tiny and suffocating map and the unholy amount of missing features from previous games. Put the recruitment system into a game like Watch Dogs 2 and you got yourself the best Watch Dogs game ever created.
Ubi lied about graphics for the first one, made the third one better and then lied completely about the third and never made any changes or updates to overhaul it into the original vision
I haven’t played watch dogs 1 in a long while. I have Watch Dogs 2 as my #3 favorite open world game of all time. #1 is Cyberpunk and #2 is Sleeping Dogs.
One of the best things that could have improved the game by a large margin was the possibility to take other recruits with the player, like a gang see, but no it was always one guy vs the whole world, that is so terrible
theres still alot of glitch in the game. like the world map that show where are other recruit at. their profile pic and buggy even in the team list. and they just abandoned the game without fixing it
Watch Dogs 1 was awesome. I still remember the hype around the game, the graphics were never gonna be as good as a demo, but the game was very fun. The missions were diverse and cool af.
Watch Dogs 2 is my favorite. It's so good that I dare put it in my top 5 favorite games. It has the most beautiful scenery, the best cars, the most cars. You have the most character customizations in terms of clothes and the open world just feels so real. Watch Dogs 1 was really good. Very good story and immersive gameplay but not much to do outside of the main missions and a few side activities. But Watch Dogs Legion.... I never really liked from the start. I played it again and got a slightly better understanding of the story but it still wasn't my favorite. I'm gonna play it again on PS5 and see if I feel any different but I doubt I will.
When a game company has a huge fail they need to throw out their release schedule for future games and fix what they just released redesigning as necessary which will prevent future game failures
Watch Dogs 1 was amazing in terms of story and gameplay , watch dogs 2 was Mehh , WD Legion was horrible i regret buying it and playing it , they should've continued Aiden Pearce story with a sequel, but Ubi Soft had to ruin it
Dont forget they practically cut the hacking in half in legion although after beating all 3 all i need at this point is the distract hack and a police baton to beat the game
I wish Ubisoft Reflections would be able to make a new Driver game. It feels like they let the series die despite how comparable it used to be to GTA. But i think the team is probably far different now than the one that made Driver
Gaming companies should be forbidden of making deceptive trailers to push sales upwards. Either show what the players will get or don't show anything at all
I thought that the whole watchdogs IP spun off from a cancelled unannounced modern day setting assassins Creed project. But then, when they started getting complaints about the game’s overall serious tone & the dreaded comparisons to their AC franchise & how the fans made them self conscious about it eventually they got the case of “the volitions” and tried to completely separate themselves from it in their next game. And while they did become successful, it was also criticised for their over course-correction steering the WD Franchise into being way too silly, then by the third game they just went into a completely aimless low effort direction basically giving up trying to make an attempt to give the franchise it’s own unique identity with the implementation of a “make up the plot and Headcanon in your head to fill in the blanks” type of direction with their recruit every NPC Mechanic where everyone you recruit is entirely disposable & interchangeable with eachother throughout the entire story, making it impossible for anyone to get personally invested into the story which made their very hollow phoned in narrative writing even worse to experience since there’s absolutely no characterisation whatsoever.. Even by the time they release the story campaign DLC’s with multiplayer DLC’s on top of that even the Official Assassin’s Creed DLC that flat out canonises it to the AC Franchise to embrace it’s roots as an old Cancelled AC Project to bring in more players by that point it was just too little too late since no one except for the handful of hardcore fans checked in and then Ubisoft decided to just completely throw their hands up, give up & abandon the IP altogether.. (& no I refuse to believe that it’s not canon, you don’t make entire story Crossover DLC’s & just take it back, especially when it narratively contradicts absolutely nothing & actually enhances both IP’s mythologies by being canon to each other’s universe, it’s canon, end of fucking story! Especially when the Watch_Dog’s IP has been Officially Permanently Discontinued so there’s no reason to keep both Franchises separate.)
10:41 Imagine saying, that BF Hardline's story was bad and comparing it to this soulless slop. I mean, it wasn't anything revolutionary, but it was interesting to follow and had it's moments (I particularly liked that the story was divided into episodes like some TV series) . Way better than BF4's and BF5's story and whatever is pushed out nowadays.
It's like Whitelight said: Ubisoft got what they deserved. But it's not what Watch Dogs deserved. I still go back to 1 and 2. They're some of my favorite games. But the lies behind 1 cast such a massive shadow that completely veiled the series when Ubisoft decided to make Legion a glorified conceptional demo. The series a watch dogs 3 as a soft reboot, but considering this is the Skull and Bones quadruple A company, it's probably never going to happen if it it does, It'll just be another mediocre downgrade of a game. Excellent video!
One thing you have to admit about watchdogs legion though is the final mechanic is way more of an improvement compared to watchdogs one and two even if it is a little bit repetitive
legion really put the nail in the coffin for the franchise, WD1 is a fun game, even if you can feel that there's things missing, on thing i remember i was really excited for was the idea of being a more heroic vigilant or a more anti-hero means to an end, and how it would shape Aiden trough the story till the end, the city is also very nice to go, the train being my favorite way to traverse.
The Watch Dogs series suffered a lot of misfortunes, mixed with undeserved & Ubisoft messing it up. While Watch Dogs 2 was good, it robbed Aiden Pearce from Watch Dogs 1 of a proper continuation to his story as there's so much potential they can do with a his complex character, but because people at the time thought Aiden to be too boring & not easy to like despite having a good story & themes that compliment the character, we end having Watch Dogs 2 be a completely standalone sequel set in a completely different tone & with completely new & different characters. While Watch Dogs 1 & 2 are great in their own rights & show range of how the hacking world of Watch Dogs can be, from the dark grim rainy streets of Chicago to the bright colorful sunny scenery of San Francisco, we still didn't get a chance to properly continue the story of Aiden Pearce, could've either been in a DLC expansion of Watch Dogs 2 instead of being a small cameo or instead of doing the overly-ambitious Watch Dogs Legion, they make a Watch Dogs 3 focusing back on Aiden Pearce's journey as the Vigilante/the Fox given the ending of his story in Watch Dogs 1 left room for where he'll go. They could alternate the storylines between Aiden Pearce & DedSec SFO gang in each entry or if they want, just make a Watch Dogs 3 with Aiden & the DedSec SFO gang (essentially, Watch Dogs Legion Bloodline should've been the 3rd Watch Dogs game we got). And it sucks how Legion turned out cause the devs seem to know that Watch Dogs might be thrown away by Ubisoft & not properly learn their lesson after Legion, so they made Bloodline a send off for BOTH Aiden Pearce & the DedSec SFO gang (Aiden literally retires from being the Vigilante/the Fox & the DedSec SFO gang have already disbanded). Bloodline was great & the only reason Legion is worth a discount To be honest, it's a good thing I waited out till Bloodline to come out as playing as Aiden Pearce & Wrench in the base game story is what hard carried me in enjoying the base game despite how bland & boring the base game story is. With how Ubisoft messed the series over, we had a great time with the characters of Watch Dogs 1 & 2, but we never had enough time to spend & felt too short...
Far cry 6 and ghost recon breakpoint has a similar issue in where you can no longer just have all the skills, Not being able to have all the skill abilities and such all at once makes progression just feel.... less And not being able to have a vast range of abilities at once limits variety in combat and such, making gameplay more the same, tackling things more the same
I know it wasn't the best, but I still like playing it. It's still a fun, detailed open world to explore. And causing massive drone wars in the streets is quite fun.
Watch Dogs: I beat it and I never touched it again. Watch Dogs 2: I loved it and return to replay it often. Watch Dogs Legion: Beat it and only returned because Wrench was in The Bloodline DLC.
This is so sad to hear, many will not agree with me but for me personally this was my favorite ubisoft franchise, played Watch Dogs 2 and all the DLC 6 times and will probably play it again sometime in the future I absolutely love Watch Dogs 2, I even enjoyed Legion, the story in these games was never the best but the gameplay was always pure gold. So satisfying to call an enemy in front of parked car make them stop and then hack the car to ram into them, to complete whole lvls with the RC or the spider, hacking into Nudle (Google) and the FBI were such amazing missions, driving the Cyberdriver car and Duran Duran and Judas Priest blasting in the background. RIP.
The first two games are tied as my 2nd favorite games of all time (#1 being RDR2) I've written like 5 essays about how much I love WD2 on other TH-cam videos but they are absolutely amazing games and this could have been a PHENOMENAL trilogy but unfortunately Legion was a HUGE disappointment. The DLC Bloodline was excellent I'll say that much I loved Wrench & Aiden together and playing as Wrench for more than just one mission was the best. I'm currently replaying the trilogy and once I get to Legion I'm gonna do Bloodline first then play the main game as only Aiden and Wrench. I'm hoping the Watch Dogs movie does good and we get Watch Dogs 4 and Ubi realizes that this franchise still has potential.

That’s what ruin it
what was the trophy i also had a problem with one
@@stealth2811Piece de Resistance trophy.
If done right, Watch Dogs 4 can definitely sell well with the right direction and Ubisoft going back and seeing what made Watch Dogs 1 and 2 great
Man, this video format suits you so well, you look cool! Are you going to make a video about another IOI greed ($5 for Sean Bean)?
Sad thing is, I don't think I'll ever finish legion
It's one of my favorite games lol idk
It’s not bad, just extremely mid
sucks how it flopped the e3 gameplay looked so fun i heard there was supposed to be more rpg like elements which would of made the game feel less boring
tbf they dropped the ball on the first game as well, as much as we all love the first game let’s not forget what we were supposed to get vs what we did get
You just earned a sub!
I love watching your videos and you made very good points here. I loved WD 2, went into Legion expecting another great game and never touched it after 4 hours in.
The fact that I don’t even remember Legion coming out speaks volumes.
The bloodline DLC also kinda shot down any chance at a better wrench and Aiden team up making them meet for the first time so far in the future
What makes it even more tragic is that bloodlines is fucking awesome
It has a great story and the gameplay of Aiden and wrench are so cool. All the side content was good and they even added small texts and audio files only in dlc and some of them were kinda funny like the wrench memes of rampart. So much detail+ awesome characters+ great gameplay+ fantastic story= one of the best dlcs I’ve played in a while. Bloodlines should have been the base game
Atleast the living City mod for 1 gave us most of the Watch Dogs Ubisoft failed to give us
You deserve so much more fame for quality you put out!
It isn't a dead franchise yet. There is still a Watch Dogs Movie in production.
Really
Originally come for HITMAN Guides, i was blown away with your new direction and Film Quality and certainly vibing towards your future.
Hope that your new Spirit & video would bring positive outcome for your Channel❤
Also a huge fan of your cool video on Previous Ambrose Island analysis
I just started playing watchdogs 2 and honestly it's one of the best games I've ever played. Good writing, fleshed out characters, extremely good concept, smooth movement and fun music.
it's just sad because legion has song 2 by blur but you can't access MP3 player because there are no functional phone
and also there are barely any stores with interiors (excluding pubs)
Yeah we should have been given mp3 so we can listen to music anytime anywhere, I wanna listen to bloc party rather than that shitty football song
@@LxstGalaxy2000 oh yeah forgot to mention bloc party is also great
I heard that there will be watchdogs 4 set in Boston with the choice between male and female protagonist, a dark and gritty storyline like Wd1 aswell
Your dad works at ubisoft?
Could you maybe do something regarding the Arkham games and how bad it has gotten?
The first 3 were great but Knight was a huge let down. For whatever reason so many people have forgotten how bad that game was and now love it. I think it'd be great to have another person tear it apart again and remind everyone.
I remember the first time that I watched the Watch Dogs 1 trailer I was surprised and people were calling the "gta killer" well the rest is very well known.
underrated channel...
Hey WildGold. I bet you make great Hitman contracts. Do you make them and if so, could you share the IDs in a video or bio sometime?
Buying a new PC becouse of the hype for a game is not a fools move, is a long term investment this days.
Bro there is a new Hitman 3 dlc
Your videos are going crazy keep it up!
At least it's one of the best benchmark games on PC for Ray Tracing. One of the few games ever where Ray Tracing works properly.
i thought u were joking when i said legion was ur most hyped game ever ☠️
Watch dogs 2 is great because of how immersive it is. You really feel like you’re in it and the city is never empty and feels alive
Watch Dogs is the definition of wasted potential
That E3 trailer is always a reminder of what could of been
Off topic but how do I change my revolver camo in watchdogs 1
I received a copy of Watchdogs:legion about 3 years ago, and it's in a drawer somewhere, still in it's original plastic.
I was just upset that in three full budget titles, there was no watching dogs smh.
really sad to hear this... loved this series and it will always have a special place in my heart. i hope it will comeback at some time during the end of the ps5 era
Good taste
Like WD2 than GTA, more alive
One of the best things that could have improved the game by a large margin was the possibility to take other recruits with the player, like a gang see, but no it was always one guy vs the whole world, that is so terrible
theres still alot of glitch in the game. like the world map that show where are other recruit at. their profile pic and buggy even in the team list. and they just abandoned the game without fixing it
11:21 Megamind spotted lmao
They need to reboot it like with a watch dogs 2 type of story keep the same element and less saint row vibes
The "Watch Dogs: Tokyo" comic gives Watch Dogs' fans some hope
Watch Dogs 1 was awesome. I still remember the hype around the game, the graphics were never gonna be as good as a demo, but the game was very fun. The missions were diverse and cool af.
Soo, Watch dogs legion is watch dogs 3? Or is it just a secondary entry in the series.
Watch Dogs 1 was amazing in terms of story and gameplay , watch dogs 2 was Mehh , WD Legion was horrible i regret buying it and playing it , they should've continued Aiden Pearce story with a sequel, but Ubi Soft had to ruin it
Is Splinter Cell also dead? I haven't heard about it since Blacklist
Yes, even more dead than this or Rayman.
Dont forget they practically cut the hacking in half in legion although after beating all 3 all i need at this point is the distract hack and a police baton to beat the game
honestly if they would just give us nexus it would restore everything
I wish Ubisoft Reflections would be able to make a new Driver game. It feels like they let the series die despite how comparable it used to be to GTA.
But i think the team is probably far different now than the one that made Driver
I only love the first Watch Dogs. Honestly, I prefer Legion over Watch Dogs 2.
You sir deserve more subs this was a great video🎉🎉👏👏
Gaming companies should be forbidden of making deceptive trailers to push sales upwards. Either show what the players will get or don't show anything at all
This is a very good video you have my subscription!
The series was never all that well liked but it's so baffling that 3 just murdered the franchise when it was one of Ubisofts best series
real underrated bro keep it up
I thought that the whole watchdogs IP spun off from a cancelled unannounced modern day setting assassins Creed project.
Online Decryption was an AMAZING online mode in the first game. I wonder why they removed it?
Somebody give this guy props for the spot on wardrobe every review.
Bloodline was great & the only reason Legion is worth a discount
To be honest, it's a good thing I waited out till Bloodline to come out as playing as Aiden Pearce & Wrench in the base game story is what hard carried me in enjoying the base game despite how bland & boring the base game story is. With how Ubisoft messed the series over, we had a great time with the characters of Watch Dogs 1 & 2, but we never had enough time to spend & felt too short...
Far cry 6 and ghost recon breakpoint has a similar issue in where you can no longer just have all the skills,
Not being able to have all the skill abilities and such all at once makes progression just feel.... less
And not being able to have a vast range of abilities at once limits variety in combat and such, making gameplay more the same, tackling things more the same
I know it wasn't the best, but I still like playing it. It's still a fun, detailed open world to explore. And causing massive drone wars in the streets is quite fun.
You know what. I think ill drop a sub. Your vids are intresting. Id like to see what you do next.
if they keep E3 settings on!
RIP.
Great video dude! Watch Dogs Legion was so underwhelming.
