In the most gorgeous setting a splendid performance! The soprano and mezzo are beautifully matched in duetto; the basso shows excellent control and dynamic range. Maestro took rather slower tempi which was quite pleasing. And on personal note - the basso recitativo with chorus sounded varied and not boring as in most instances. Regrettably, the tenor’s emission was totally foreign to the other soloists which was rather disrupting the cohesiveness in ensembles. Great thanks for Teatro Comunale di Bologna for such a wonderful tribute to great bolognese
It's so disgusting that such a great work of Rossini is not written in English the most spoken language in the world! I really wonder why it's in Italian when it is shown around the world. I do not know where it was played, which orchestra, who the soloists are and who the conductor is!
Anand Samuel areyou kidding? The work was written in the early 1800s, in Italian. This is an Italian performance in Bologna, Italy. You and I have the privilege to watch it in far away U.S. They do not translate the classic works for transmission to other countries - that would be absurd.
Anand Samuel is latin friend, Stabat Mater means “the mother was there” (at cross feet), Latin was used in Stabats, Requiems and others liturgical music.
Eccellenti! Tutti! Direttore favoloso!!!

The soloists aren't top-notch but I find the jaunty quartet at 33:30 strangely addictive for reasons I can't explain...

In che data é stato eseguito?
Bravo. Sacro. Rossini. Divino pecatore.

A me piace il basso
That’s because you’re not a heavy metal fan 😂

Very stupid idea. Go learn Italian you lazy lout.

He was pretty consistent in being Italian, the work was commissioned by an Italian - I am sure he didn't mean to upset you so...
