Expeditions: A mudrunner game | First Impressions Review | The Good and The Bad
I have spent several hours in game now and I have to say that I have a love hate relationship with this game. Its an odd blend of clunky interface with excellent graphics and physics. I am enjoying the missions but it seems like many people where hoping for Snowrunner 2 rather than Mudrunner 2024. Its not anything like snowrunner aside from upgrading trucks. Everything else is different for better or worse.

I feel like a lot of people never read about the game or never watched the trailer for long. Cause they would have known it was no where near snow runner
I really enjoy the rock crawling aspect. Yes it is kinda buggy but just like any other game, I am sure it will have updates.
I been gettin a piece with the Don71 on some steep crawls!
The DON can be an absolute beast.
Nice one Arthur, im loving this series.... With the drone, if you hire one of the people you can use, the 1st one unlocked, she give you upto 200 meters i think it is, compared to the 80'ish you have... Great review mate..👍
Good to know!
I'm a player of both mudrunner and snowrunner and I'm thoroughly enjoying this take of the games.
Me too!
Nice Video but its better not to compare this game with others you have played before. It's not mudrunner or snowrunner it's a expedition game. Think many 4x4 users like this game and its just out so give it some time. I am sure there will come some improvements.
No I totally agree. This game is about off road exploration. And it does that well.
No it doesn’t…. I live in Arizona 20 mins from Grand Canyon….they could not even get the terrain right
@@timothypricesr5953 It's a Expedition game and not a terrain simulator and they never said the made a perfect copy of the Grand Canyon. Does Donald Duck looks like a real Duck?
I do real rock crawling and I can say that for console at least this is the best we have.
You don’t have to complete all missions on a map to open free roam.
Pirated it. Played for a few hours. Deleted it. Feels unfinished and way too easy. Thanks fitgirl.
Thank you, if it's not even worth playing if it's free I'll just pass
@@fartdonkey8290 It's ok, nice way to kill a few hours but isn't as good as snowrunner. Feels like a dlc they changed their mind about.
Looks a bit of a waste of money for me. Thanks for the review. Probably pick it up on sale or games pass.
Glad I could help
They should have known, the majority of the players that jumped on this game were gonna be Snowrunner players. They should have kept the control scheme the same or even added an option to just click to snowrunner controls. Thats catering to your customers.
I looked at it today on Xbox store. And all the reviews said it stutters like every 3 to 4 seconds on Series X. I think we are now in an age where all games come out unfinished or broke. So we just need to expect it.
I hate the controls. I like the game though.
Going to try it on my wimpy Lonovo IdeaPad 3 5500U laptop. If it doesn't run well I'll play it on the 7600XT PC I'll be building in a few months.
There were Two MudRunner titles. The first was a direct SpinTires spinoff or extension, the second was the owners before Saber, who were a spin off from the OP Who made the first two maps in a new look MudRunner and the Claw log handler ~ that was bought by Saber and they released the third and final MudRunner ~ made SnowRunner and now another MudRunner ~ but it's sort all the same; event Saber Devs said that.
Sort of - you are speaking of Mudrunner and then "American Wilds" which was like Mudrunner 1.5 - it basically was a DLC that doubled the size of the game, but its was still under the Mudrunner title and those of us that owned it already got a big discount on the AM wilds upgrade. I think it was 10 bucks to upgrade if you already owned Mudrunner.
I get their desire to expand the user base with a different take on the theme, but those efforts (in my opinion) would be better directed at SnowRunner fixes and improvements.
But this is the world they've given us. "Don't like that? Have some of this, and be happy..."
I may buy it next year, for $20, but unlikely. Feels like another Saber miss. So much unrealized potential. 😒
Thankfully Snowrunner is continuing and Hopefully they will bring in some of the changes from Expeditons to Snowrunner.
I'm really enjoying the game. It does a feel a bit pointless, I don't really care why I am doing the missions. I just see the missions as ways of exploring the map to find new trucks and upgrades. There are some great innovations in this game that would be great in snowrunner, like loosening the winch, tyre inflation, drone/binos, and elements of the camps and vehicle inventory.
I unlocked the Tatra beast mode truck and the "Pug" military looking vehicle. Game is a bit easy mode with those, but getting them is a bitch.
It is NOT snowrunner, but that doesn't have to be a criticism. If it was like snowrunner people would say "it's just snowrunner", so I feel ok with what the game is and what I paid for it.
I agree - Very enjoyable for me so far too. Its a nice change of pace from Snowrunner.
I'd be $60+ in the hole if it wasn't for your reviews. I was super jacked about this game but I would have been very disappointed if I had purchased it before watching the reviews. Anyone who wants the big rig hauling feel will likely be unhappy. Thanks for the reviews my friend!
Very glad I was able to help!
Agree with you on the control settings don't like it one bit disappointed with the game so far as for garage not happy with I'll give it time maybe with updates might improve fingers crossed as i have over 600 hrs played on snowrunner probably will stick with snowrunner for now
@Elatenl nice try.. nobody being dramatic here. XBOX currently selling base game for $49.99+ tax bringing it to nearly $60... Year 1 edition is $69.99+ and Supreme is $79.99+
Next time fact check yourself so you don't look like a fool. Have a fantastic dramatic free day!
Snowrunner and Expeditioins are two DIFFERENT games! The graphics are the same, the scout and truck models are the same, but the gameplay is DIFFERENT. Snowrunner is a hard core simulator of heavy and offroad trucks and transporting heavy loads on difficult terrains, Expeditions is an exploration scouting game, with an arcade driving style. Who likes the simulation of heavy and offroad trucks and transporting heavy loads on difficult terrains, like me, will play Snowrunner more of course, and who likes to explore the terrain, will play Expeditions more. For me Snowrunner is better, it has more content, it has different missions, more trucks, more different maps, more challenges. Expeditions is a good game but for me Snowrunner is better, Snowrunner is the best game in this series.
Graphics are not the same textures are aweful and the vehicles look like cartons
I can't say I disagree - Snowrunner is definitely much better. I still like Expeditions though.
The graphics are on par with and better in most ways. The Vehicles look cartoony because of the stupid paint jobs.
Expeditions is a Snowruner seller. After completing 17 missions I couldn’t stop my mind from wanting Snowrunner. Reinstalled Snowrunner and purchased all the content I didn’t already own and haven’t gone back to Expeditions. I plan to play it but probably after things are added and hopefully some changes made (especially to the controls).
