The 208 GTI apparently has a very very good fuel consumption as well which is something you wouldn't expect from a car with that kind of performance. Most people are drooling over Polo or Golf GTIs and Cupras but they forget the French companies make insanely good cars to drive and own.
@@asmedia5220 It's crazy. Get a garage to check the condition of the pistons in the 4 pot front calipers ASAP & consider upgrading the pistons to Godspeed Brake's Stainless Steel Pistons set which they sell/produce... It'll save you some money in the long run. The OEM pistons in the 4 pot calipers are prone to failing/seizing... Which will cause/causes premature wear on the discs and pads and they'll then also need replacing sooner due to the above. OEM discs & pads from Peugeot are very expensive, but (when they need doing/replacing) godspeed brakes also sell an alternative set which are arguably better performing and cheaper than the OEM discs/pads Peugeot offer... It's definitely worth doing before anything else/asap (if they haven't already been done)

I am very curious why Misha said the 308 is more like a golf gti than an i30n; from my external pov, it handled great for what it is(i.e. a fwd light-ish hot hatchback), being more agile than a golf; then again like he said at the beginning of the video, he drove like 50 golf gtis so, he didn't said it is closer to a golf than to an i30 for nothing.
@@ceryno3459 this 307 puts up around 270, similar with the i30n; the difference is, this is more than 200 kgs lighter than the i30..so the driving dynamics should be better(in theory).

@@ceryno3459 I've driven multiple i30N and 308 GTi examples and no...the 308 is quite noticeably faster than an i30N anywhere. The Hyundais are great cars, but I don't know where you're getting this idea that they're faster from - better balanced, better equipped and more reliable yes, but faster no. Also you say power and not hp...but HP is the way we measure power in cars, hence the "P" in "HP" is literally power. What else do you mean? Guessing English not your 1st language, so I'm just asking as perhaps the wrong message is coming across. @@spolo123 Honestly I have been reading a lot about this specific engine, and I hear a lot of complaints. I wish it wasn't, because I really like the 308 GT.
The engine in the 308 GTi is probably the most reliable THP out there. The engine itself seems pretty foolproof. Never heard of them failing so far. Hell even saw some with 250k+ kms on them.
Literally the next thing I do after watching this is take mine out, only difference is a decat (which I didn't do!) and a brand new set of Eagle F1 Asym 6 tyres which are awesome, at least for road use. The stock brakes apparently are good for a lot more than 1 lap, but I've not tested that myself - I think it was EverydayDriver that reviewed this at Spa. Personally I don't use sport mode though - it just makes both the throttle and sound worse, nothing else I believe. The reverse rev counter becomes a non-issue after 10 minutes. The wheel/dash position is fantastic once you acclimatise, although the wheel could do with a little more telescopic adjustment for a T-Rex like me.

The only negatives for me is the Peugeot sound track included with activating the sports button, I understand the laws in place here in the UK for exhaust noise regulations but if what is being played in the car was actually what was heard outside it would surely be absolutely fine!! The standard sound system is ok but I have had better standard sound systems in my other cars!
With the 270hp version you'd benefit from its limited slip differential and the alcon brakes too
@@spolo123 I was close to getting the 270 but heard and the read the horror stories regarding the slip diff and the costs to repair and the alcon breaks seizing
@@drt4562 1st hand and full history is a must. Just like with anything that isn't Japanese
@@drt4562 Tbh the diff makes noise but ive rarely heard about them breaking. (i think i know about like 4 with gearbox problems). The brakes seizing is an easy fix by just replacing em with stainless steel pistons. The only big problem with the 270 is just the general price of the disks. Replacing front disks + pads is a 2000 euro job.
WHAT A CAR, this is exactly all the car most people will ever need
Bravo Misha-Drujee! I just got one of these-The dream came thrue for its class! Huge Congrats to Peugeot Sport Division! Absolute Great driving performance Misha-many thanks.
The owner seemed to be rethinking his decision to have Misha take a lap in it 🤣 It was a great lap, but I completely understand being nervous when someone else is driving your car
Well I'd be too if I saw Misha looking for camera under the seat while pushing 150+ 🤣
Misha is great driver, nothing to be worried about.😂
@@tristanyoung1247😊 8:17
That things so quick in the corners. Handling looks amazing
the lap was crazy
Thanks!
Now I'm itching to see you drive a 208 GTi Misha pleaseeeeee
I got mine 2 years ago, and i freaking love it. It's the best car I've ever driven, especially for a peugeot
wow it actually rips quite hard! sounds good too
Been waiting to see Misha to drive this a long time ago, insane!
Madness, the company I work for makes the front brakes for that car, so good to see them in action on the Nürburgring
That's nice! It's it true Peugeot sport fitted them onto that gti because that's what they race in wrc?
Love Alcon calipers. Getting seals and pistons is tough though. None of my suppliers sell them.
It feels great to have Misha Charoudin approve my dream car. :D I've always thought it was an underrated hot hatch.
FINALLY! One of the most underrated cars outthere...fantastic base...one important factor that people tend to forget is the weight...just under 1200kg...so withe 270hp...and an old fashioned suspension well tunned...you should try de RCZ R to to see the diferrence...
lightest car in its category
Didn't expect one of these to be this good on track. Nice car!
yeah, the French know how to make a FWD based car handle well. I recently had the opportunity to push a 508 PSE a little harder, handling was great too, which is not something you would expect from a wagon hybrid
Good to see peugeot have made the best proper gti since the 205 days I'm now stuck between the rs megane and this 308 gti
Love the right foot when braking, the little blip on the gas when downshifting 😮
That's fantastic ! Finally a 308 GTI !
If you can get your hands on a 308 GTI By Factory, that would be a treat. It's basically a TCR version but for the street
i have one of this. its has been remaped to 292hp and 413nm. I must say, with the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S, damn what a beast!!! Had the Pilot Sport 3's before and it is a no go! too much wheelspin, understeer even though the diff helps and a lot and lift-off oversteer. Once i changed to the 4S's i got a new car...
Omg ive been waiting for this, picking mine up in a couple of days!! 😊
I became a big fan of hot hatches and I am always happy when people choose not a VAG hot hatch. Cool car.
3:47 I think he meant like i30N by Hyundai, not E30.
Rev counter just made my brain go into limp mode..
I was waiting for the nurb lap in 308 GTI by Misha!
I was cross-shopping with this and Mégane GT. Ended up with GT since it looks a lot better.
I've got the Yokohama Advan Fleva too on my Mini JCW R56 manual (with same engine of this great Peugeot) and they are so performing and reliable...always trust japanese! 💪❤
Not quite the same, the GTI engine has different internals (superior) and a few ancillary differences
duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuudes, i thought of bringing my GTI over to have it "tested" by Misha ;) It's modified with around 320 swiss HP ;) and proper semi's...lol.
Do it please. 👍

Misha casually driving, no stress whatsoever. Owner looking as if he was about to puke from the very start. Well done gentlemen!

Now I would love to see you take a 208 GTI around the ring!
Great lap,what a car is 308 GTI.😊
That must be a
'VERY nice to drive' car,
because that lap, particularly the back half,
(a biased favourite section) was beautiful to watch 👏👏👏👏👏
In a different world, I could afford to visit and pay good 🤑 for a spot on that passenger seat !
😎👍🍻🇦🇺
Looked well composed. That reverse sweep rev counter would take some getting used to.
Super nice flow! 👌
I really wanted to hear your thoights on this. Lightweight with an old school torsen diff, can't go wrong tbh
i drive a Pug208Gti and i LOVE IT *-*
What a great car. This car is underrated and now cheeper. 👍
no, reason is the thp motor that is a disaster in reliability
@@Kamui.. for example?
@@deutsch323 Problems with timing, turbo, cooling, cylinder head gasket. 1.6 THP is horrible
@@Kamui.. This isnt a THP youve talking about, its different engine with all the internals changed...
@@Kamui..Wrong. That was the Thp version of the engine. In the early days when BMW had it. It was co-developed between Peugeot & BMW. Peugeot there after ironed out all the issues. Zero issues with this 270bhp version. It’s truly epic.
Nice balanced car. Some Sticky tires is all it needs
In Poland, those who had 308 Gti got rid of them immediately when they found out how much brake discs cost LUL. I worked in one of the Polish workshops, "Peugeot Polska", and even they used the demo car as much as they could and then sold it - a nice and expensive surprise for the new owner.
godspeed brakes do a much cheaper front disk alternative to the oem.
How much it cost?
and also too stiff suspension for daily use lol
@@gospodinx6657 When the car appeared on the market, the cost of one brake disc was about 12k PLN = about 2.5k+ Euro.
Ciekawa sprawa. Ale pewnie myśleli: "skoro to jest Peugeot to musi być tanio" :)
How easy does the Pug drive around the track and how comfortable is the driver with this knowledge ? Incredible car Peugeot.
Swiss guy trying to show emotions 👌
It's a good surprise, nice speeds for the power. I liked it 👍
Finally!!! 🎉Now let's wait for the 208 GTi 💪
I cant wait
Its so funny to hear 1200kg is light nowadays, in the 90S my 1250kg CB7 was the heaviest Honda sedan, the big boy 😂, nowadays its a feather
I wasn't expecting it to be fast for what it is, nb France nb
when he said e-30 i think he meant (hyundai) i-30?
Yep. The french accent took the lead haha
Remember when they made the 306 gti ...It turned better to the left than right, because of the 6 speed gearbox.
Great for a RHD car, slightly offsets the driver's weight causing the opposite issue (when you've got no passenger) 😄
306 GTi-6 is still my dream car, even after 3 years daily driving a Porsche! Just can't convince myself to put 10k miles a year on a car that old...
always nice to see pugs on the channel
Debés saber que es un 1.6 es increíble es muy ligero en curvas 😮
So much so that it feels a little bit mid engined. One of the most important feature in this car indeed
When he sais "its like an E30" he wanted to say "I30N" in french I is pronounced E 😁
250 or 270Hp?. I think 270 because the brakes.
272 yes
You must try a 208 GTI BPS
FFS, I hoped it’d have been my car that Misha got to try! Maybe later this year the man, the myth the legend can take my stage 3 car around the Ring! 👌👍
can't wait for the 208 gti it's more fun than the 308 gti and a more active rear axle
His driving is mesmerising
Mijn FIAT X1/9 had ook een tegengesteld draaiende toerenteller.
That would make a great Grp N racer.
They're indeed more to find on amateur rallyes than on the nurb
It's a car that shines on track !
🇲🇫 très sympa ce tour en 308 GTI ! M E R C I !❤
So how does it compare with the Hyundai I30N for handling and gearbox precision?
The hyundai is a serious contender to the 308. It weights 200kg more, which you can feel in the steering yet at the gas station too
When he mentioned „E30“, he was making reference to Hyundai I30 N not BMW. That is atleast to my understanding….
That thing can move for what it is 😁
Fair play , nice drive .
Finally dry lap without yellows
I am very curious why Misha said the 308 is more like a golf gti than an i30n; from my external pov, it handled great for what it is(i.e. a fwd light-ish hot hatchback), being more agile than a golf; then again like he said at the beginning of the video, he drove like 50 golf gtis so, he didn't said it is closer to a golf than to an i30 for nothing.
tust me i30n delivers more power than this, i20n is more close to that 308 gti
@@ceryno3459 this 307 puts up around 270, similar with the i30n; the difference is, this is more than 200 kgs lighter than the i30..so the driving dynamics should be better(in theory).
@@eugenux as I said trust me i30n delivers more power, not speaking about hp, just compare the speed he has with the 308 and go watch the he fully stock i20n video it’s close, and check i30n also, misha tested both, u will see :)
@@ceryno3459 I've driven multiple i30N and 308 GTi examples and no...the 308 is quite noticeably faster than an i30N anywhere. Of course, the i20N has beaten the i30N laptime round a few tracks, so that's not a slow car, but the 308 is definitely quicker than both.
Edit: Also I'm pretty sure Misha meant character with the comparison to a GTi, not performance anyway.
@@ApothecaryTerry Misha said himself that it’s more like a golf gti 😂, i30n goes around 240 in the downhill straight, this barely reachs 215, I don’t need more proofs, i30n dct keeps up with my friend stock 135i, golf gti and 308 gti can’t

Oh la la :) Allons-y!
I really like the looks, practicality and quick accelaration of the 308 GT. But a lot of people don't recommend the 308 because it's engine is supposedly not very reliable. Does anyone know anything about these THP engines and if they're reliable?
Yes, the 1.6l has been made reliable in the process. Look it up. That's because of this misconception in the car world that I could afford mine for cheap
@@spolo123 Honestly I have been reading a lot about this specific engine, and I hear a lot of complaints. I wish it wasn't, because I really like the 308 GT.
@@i-am-ali1672 the 208 1.6l had troubles. What did you read exactly? Many 308 gti 272 and 263 have over 200000km on the clock
The engine in the 308 GTi is probably the most reliable THP out there. The engine itself seems pretty foolproof. Never heard of them failing so far. Hell even saw some with 250k+ kms on them.
I hear that the 263/270 hp version is OK. But what about the 205/225 hp version that's on the 308 GT?
Literally the next thing I do after watching this is take mine out, only difference is a decat (which I didn't do!) and a brand new set of Eagle F1 Asym 6 tyres which are awesome, at least for road use. The stock brakes apparently are good for a lot more than 1 lap, but I've not tested that myself - I think it was EverydayDriver that reviewed this at Spa.
Personally I don't use sport mode though - it just makes both the throttle and sound worse, nothing else I believe.
The reverse rev counter becomes a non-issue after 10 minutes. The wheel/dash position is fantastic once you acclimatise, although the wheel could do with a little more telescopic adjustment for a T-Rex like me.
a shout to another asym 6 tires user; one of the best tires for road use I ever used; I was in awe of how good it felt behind the wheel.
@@eugenux I've only had them a week and they are feeling pretty nice. My only issue is actually that they have too much grip 🤣
Sold my Porsche because I wanted to throw a car around at somewhat safe speeds, but with those tyres the Pug is super grippy! Can't say "too much grip" is a criticism of tyres though...
