I burst in laughter when I saw the actual buff, it's good but saying that it would ruin solo q set up high expectations to me. Anyways it was a good video overall👍.
It could be the Bubble ink radius was _just_ large enough to look larger than it really was. Like with the Mint video, that patch of purple ink could have just barely been inside enough to get covered by the Bubble ink. As for the Sizzle trailer, I looked at it frame-by-frame and everything is incredibly difficult to make out. My best guess is the extra ink coverage was from the main weapon, but everything happened so quickly, it looked like the Bubble covered it all. Either way, I feel these mistakes were completely understandable; I know I was fooled.

Honestly I don't think zooka is THAT bad. It's not nearly as bad as the 2 cheese supers in Destiny 2... Imagine someone putting a big bubbler that covers the entire zone. Gives recharging ink armour, Damage up and lasts for long enough for the entire game to end.
I think the custom e liter points for special change might be another case of them focusing on casual over competitive. It can be hard for inexperienced players to approach chargers, which leads to pain when they turn invincible once you finally get to them.
Another problem with chargers is that you can't trust the laser to be 100% correct. Too many times have I died from the laser swinging 90 degrees on me in A and S rank that some of them must be significantly desynced. Yes they can reorient the camera but the laser should still usually be around me for at least half a second before they adjust and hit me.

Honestly, while it can be used to cheese Zones, I think it's really only a negative change from a Zones only perspective. otherwise it's a quality of life change that increases it's supportive capabilities in the other modes.
I also don't think it's necessarily that impactful to zones. Tristrike, booyah, and ink vac can cap from far away. Reefslider has invincibility to get you in. Bubble requires you fight your way onto the zone to perform the "cheese". For weapons with mobility options like splat roller and recycled brella, they can push in quickly, but it's also really risky. You can't just throw yourself at the zone and expect to live. I think people are overreacting.
i wonder if in the haggle update they'll remove or change the black bushes/trees you can see at the start of the game (when they're showing off your team’s weapons)

You could already tell the bubbler painted the whole thing, as in the sword trailer where it paints behind itself, you can see in front of the ramp on the left a perfectly sharp edged line of ink in the enemy ink in the shape of a circles edge exactly at the distance where the bubble is. But yes it was also in the over the head shot.
There is going to be a patch mid season mentioned at the end of this patch's notes that seams like it will be more heavily focused on actual weapon and special nerfs unlike this patch which seams like it focused mainly on stage updates
I actually like this patch. Even if it's not good for the game or the competitive scene. I like how weird and fun these changes are. It's funny and silly
playing the patch i think the rapid blaster buff was pretty good. you can get a lot more inkjets now since you can paint more bc your main gun is more ink efficient.
Iirc, both maps are having their platforms into mid being extended. In reference, not the squares right next to mid, the dropoffs before those for Hammerhead, and also that platform from spawn with Barnacle.

I remember bubble not painting was something I disliked. Glad it is finally here. However, I will acknowledge that cheesing a zone is kinda powerful when it provides a shield in the same action, which will halt enemy advancement for a bit.

Hard to get close when you just paint everything in sight - Even the double tap is not that slow and you just need to hit 4 out of 6 shots - Heavily favored solo queue matchmaking - Curling bomb is OK I guess The buff is just the cherry on top.
Too passive of a weapon. Splat Dualies have a fast crab too, plus an aggressive main that can gain ground with rolls. L3 as a concept kinda died in Splatoon 2 because a keepaway 2.5-liner doesn't work in a game where an increasing number of short-ranged weapons can actually catch up to it and an increasing number of 3-liners can play keepaway as effectively if not moreso than it (and crucially, can play keepaway *against* L3 which it can do nothing about). Burst Bomb L3 could save it if it had a powerplay special like Inkjet (or, indeed, Crab), but it has a toy hammer.
@@TheLaXandro It is indeed somewhat passive. Still works pretty well at under-2k X-rank solo queue, where I usually play (I'm not qualified to say anything about competitive play). Welp, bubbler definitely got the buff I feel it needed. Since it was definitely hard to make sure there is no enemy ink in the shield. Which it definitely be more aggro which is nice.
I mean...i feel like the biggest bubbler cheese will be Roller and mostly on the small/two zone maps. Big Zones won't turn just from bubbler. I guess if EVERYONE has bubbler but even then, i feel like thats counterable and they'd never get a chance.
I think the Bubble buff is actually quite good, even if it is a bit cheesey. A lot of the maps you want to be able to cap zone with Bubbler (like Hagglefish and Mincemeat) have grating above it that prevent the bubble from painting its full capacity. Another thing is that a lot of weapons that have it but don't do great with bubbler tend to struggle to keep other weapons out, which the paint buff will actually help with quite a bit. Zimi, Bambrella, H3, and Squiffer especially appreciate this buff.
Honestly I’m personally counting the map changes in the patch overall which is why it’s one of my favorites to date!!!! I’m so excited 😭😭😭😭😭 I have so much hope right now
Yeah its a decent buff but theres still better specials for rainmaker anyways, bubble is a static special it just doesnt work there, Ink Vac on the other hand is much better for it.
@@SimoneBellomonte why protect teammate with vac if you can kill enemies with zooka and make it so teammate doesn't need protecting? this is not ironic, this is just how the meta is, vac is a fun and interesting special but as long as the game has "nuke this mofo" button that is trizooka, everything else is obsolete
I remember Sakurai saying that their balance team looked at their (skewed) battle data to balance characters in smash where said data showed every character had close to a 50% win rate. They never payed attention to competitive nor the collective outcries of players because they (Sakurai) saw Twitter more of an echo chamber where anyone can say anything and everyone else will just repeat it. Seems like this is the same perspective the devs seem to have for splatoon.
I'm annoyed. They made it so beakon uses count toward super jump spot, but what they really needed to do was make it so the beakon is placed even if you're too close to a wall.

Me: “Oh, I main H-3 D and use Zimi a lot, this Bubble update should be very helpful!” Me realizing the next day that Jr and Roller are going to take massive advantage of this: 💀
Maybe bubbler's paint could slowly expand as the shield gets set up. It may be a bit weak now and doesn't immediately get any value, but that's kinda the point. You should try to get forward, but so that the enemy doesn't splat you, and in a place where you can set it up without getting splatted immediately. Although the paint gets more value the closer to the objective or farther you get, it is still very sudden. And don't get me wrong, it is nice when specials can do new and different things. Wave breaker's point sensor buff worked a little better, it fits the special and isn't as impactful as paint.
Update: Bubble cheese not real idk if it was larger in the trailer or if I and my stream were blind either way it is funny :)
Might be the former since the camera is different in the trailers.

Vtent user here and that ink vac addition is soooo helpful and it needed that a loooong time ago
Watching the bubble cheese reaction live was so funny, god what is Nintendo smoking
im making sure to keep my hopes high and my expectations low for the maps
Honestly I’m personally counting the map changes in the patch overall which is why it’s one of my favorites to date!!!! I’m so excited 😭😭😭😭😭 I have so much hope right now
0:40 - 0:49 Why is this so funny (especially the e c h o) :)
i cant wait to see more big bubbler in rain maker since it can just paint and protect the rainmaker to get to the checkpoint..
This just in: Nintendo has added Rhythm Heaven into Splatoon
I remember Sakurai saying that their balance team looked at their (skewed) battle data to balance characters in smash where said data showed every character had close to a 50% win rate. They never payed attention to competitive nor the collective outcries of players because they (Sakurai) saw Twitter more of an echo chamber where anyone can say anything and everyone else will just repeat it. Seems like this is the same perspective the devs seem to have for splatoon.
I'm annoyed. They made it so beakon uses count toward super jump spot, but what they really needed to do was make it so the beakon is placed even if you're too close to a wall.
5:31 Damn, That's bad. I may not be able to Splat Steelheads as efficiently in SR anymore.
as a semi support roller main i am excited as hell for the bubbler buff
They remembered bow existed! And gave it a good buff?!
THEY REALLY DID JUST GIVE ZONES CHEESE TO ANOTHER SPECIAL THEY DIDN'T KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH
YEAHH! I CANT BELIEVE THEY FINALLY BUFFED DYNAMO PAINT!
Can’t wait for the mint decavitator kit! I hate wall and was hoping for booyah bomb but it got stupid inkjet which I suck at, but I like suction bomb and bubbles now better so fingers crossed that I like it.
Double bomb JR is going to be a menace in zones :sob:
“I mean if we remove Kraken Cheese we have to add something else. Hmmmm…What if we ruined zones for everyone? That’s awesome! Oh, yeah and make everything strong against Splash Wall, I don’t know”
Finally nintendo is making up for the +17% ink consumption on reef-lux
Me: “Oh, I main H-3 D and use Zimi a lot, this Bubble update should be very helpful!”
Me realizing the next day that Jr and Roller are going to take massive advantage of this: 💀
"How can we nerf shooters without actually nerfing shooters?"
My glorious pencil and zooka is still on top could've been happier 🙏🙏🙏
3:31 dawg apologize to the lad...
im so ready for pole/box gaming.
If they have both in the I will be happy
We live in a bamboozlerless timeline
I was happy with the bow buff because I main stringers, but the rest was TERRIBLE
