Lost my wife last year to cancer. Our 5th anniversary would have been this Saturday. I heard the trilogy yesterday and I’ve been put in the same mental state I was last year. It’s heartbreaking
Agreed. I just lost my grandmother in September. She was the light of my life. The most important person to me outside of my children. She practically raised me and was my only good mother figure growing up. I’m seeing them live in November and have a feeling it’s going to be a rough show emotions, but one I need because I am not processing this shot very well lol.
I don't think the lyrics get enough love. The entire album is concept album about a man taking control of his dreams (lucid dreaming) and being god of the world he creates. The Pain Remains trilogy is about a relationship in his dream and then destroying the world he created. The videos take the same meaning and turn into a living world story. So nuts
The relationship in his dream is with the sun, as in he becomes a god, eating the sun (Sun//Eater) and becoming the center of the dream (Apotheosis). The trilogy describes him waking from the dream and the existential dread of losing his perfect universe.
@@aSinkingShip that's not how wilp described it at all. The trilogy is him seeing someone in his dream, someone who gives him happiness in a world he wasn't happy in in anymore. He couldn't get her so he set it a blaze. If you look it up, apple music, he did an interview where he breaks down each song. Even says how the story is out of order with Wrath and Apothecaries, but the songs sounded better "sonically"
This is powerful and real. I was recently diagnosed with an incurable brain cancer called glioblastoma multiforme stage 4. I didn't even know until I was terminal. This trilogy was hard to watch but so therapeutic. My wife and children will deal with their own personal hell upon my passing. That's what scares me the most. Life is not fair. I'm just glad it was me and not them, that's my silver lining.
You achieved as much as a human can achieve.. Use the time that is left, die with a smile, your will will be carried on and the life you gave will flourish!! Also you listened to Lorna Shore and probably other good stuff as well, i think you must be kind of a cool guy.. If u can prepare stuff for the suffering of your loved ones, do so.. Ricky Shope i will try to remember your name! greetings from another place on this planet!!
@@orintrost8611 thank you.❤️ that's the plan. I recorded a series of videos for my wife and kids. Every possible accomplishment and milestone. My two year old won't have any living memory of me most likely, but she will always know me.
i’m so sorry that you have been diagnosed with this. i followed someone online who had GBM4 and recently passed from it. i followed their journey for about a year. it was truly devastating. i never even knew the person but i cried the day she passed. I hope that somehow you find a way out, even though GBM4 is so severe, and if god forbid you don’t, know that your family and friends are all incredibly proud and grateful to have had you in their lives. good luck to you my friend.
This trilogy has helped me so much. I lost my grandmother last year and this whole Pain Remains has helped me overcome all my grief. The music videos absolutely broke me when I watched them too
Her "I love you" brings me to tears every single time. Even without the music video I see it in my head. The actor gets a lot of love but the actress is just as amazing. The way she looks at him. That's the way you want your loved one to look at you. There's so much joy in her eyes and then the scream of agony bringing the song back. Right in the feels.
When I first listened to these three songs back to back I thought, "Hell yea! We have some Lorna to jam out to!" By the end of those three beautiful songs, I was in tears. The ability Lorna Shore has to make bad ass music and still portray such a beautiful and emotional song is amazing. The music is amazing, the lyrics are amazing, the whole band performs the music with such passion that the feeling of the song still hits you even if you aren't fully aware of what the songs message is. Amazing work, Lorna Shore. And amazing commentary on this song, Alex.
I love how it starts with the cracking of rain & we end up in the fire going which sounds similar. I like to think that we see our loved ones again one day
The line 6:12 “I’ll damn this world to a sea of flame, forsake the ground and let it bury me!” chills me to the bone… the anger and emotion in Will’s voice just makes you feel the pain and anguish. 😭
Gosh, everyone is so talented in this! Even the actor doing the music video, you can SEE that tiny moment he flips and goes into the 3rd and 4th stage of grief (anger and depression). Just the amount of pain you can see in his eyes is intense, along with the vocals and beat that ties the video into it… I can't get enough! (also unrelated, but I have been subbed for a while now and when I clicked on this video I had to re-sub. I know Twitch has been doing that where it will randomly unfollow people. Is that also happening here for anyone else?)
Agreed, the acting is great but also the editing/colour grading. It's more well produced than most Hollywood films haha. But seriously, it's a work of art with the film elements and the music. Truly special
Personally I think the thing with pain remains part 1 2 and 3 is, even if you don’t understand the lyrics, the music itself evokes emotions the majority of us can relate too and the videos bring that to the forefront, I won’t lie when i say I shed a tear or 2 at part 2, we’ve all been there I’m sure, this band is making huge waves and I’m glad to be part of it, keep smiling and whatever you’re all going through, you’ll kick its ass ❤️
I LOVE YOU SO MUCH . Some time ago I had a horrible moment in my life that led me to rethink why I'm here, I almost made a mistake for life. But little by little I realized my real purpose in life and now I am doing it , I feel alive , with joy and above all with more desire to live than ever . A hug Alex!
Alex I must say I absolutely love your videos and interpretations of the music. You have a great talent on putting thoughts to words. Keep it coming man 🤟🏼
I cried like a baby the first time I watched this trilogy. Even after seeing all 3 parts multiple times, it still makes me a little teary eyed. This is such a phenomenal trilogy but holy cow is ever hard to watch these from start to finish without feeling something.
Man. The amount of time money and work put into not only the the band playing and the pyro but the cinematics are unreal. Never been moved so much by any metal genre like this trilogy.

Most people relate from loosing someone but listening to this trilogy since it's full release has made me realize exactly how much I have lost myself and it breaks me everything I hear these songs 😭 but I love them so much as well as the album
This band has literally jumped to the top of my favorite metal bands to listen to right now. There are absolutely shredding up the scene. what a gorgeous masterpiece of a trilogy.
Dude this song is a masterpiece will ramos literally is amazing my gosh the range in his voice is just absolutely incredible this band is awesome this trilogy was perfect and was absolutely emotional
1st of all, Happy New Year, Alex and y'all reading this. And secondly, though i always love your reactions, Alex, i still wish that you someday give a bad from my beloved country, Portugal, a try. Moonspell has been around for about 30yrs and still banging, surely worth the try imo.
I don't think they're technically deathcore anymore, but Shadow of Intent also makes beautiful, brutal music and they indeed made a trilogy on the Elegy album. Really good videos from that album as well.
Masterpiece is right. Never experienced a band that could put into words the feelings of loss and grief any better. It's grim, and tough to watch, but also all too relatable. And their song construction is so incredibly on point, tugs every heartstring
It’s so sad because one of my high school friends just passed away Monday morning from cancer and today is his funeral and I can’t go because of a wedding that I have to be there for.
Symphonic deathcore is spot on. To take it a step further, it's probably 'blackened' symphonic deathcore. The other side of me says 'why get all pent up on labels/classifications?' It's something I struggle with.....
This album is truly amazing. Probably one of the best albums I've ever heard and the "Pain Remains" trilogy are some of the best songs I've ever heard. Speaking of emotional music, "Paternal Failure" by Crowmouth is another emotional song, highly recommend giving a listen.
Sometimes really heavy subjects need equally-as-heavy forms of art to properly explore those subjects. Lorna Shore's really heavy style fits perfectly with these ponderous themes. Apparently Adam (lead guitar) went through some really grueling challenges within his own life while writing the music to this album. I have no doubt the Pain Remains trilogy was/is Adam's catharsis. Another great metal album that represents the struggle of coming to terms with the death of a loved one is Wintersun's "The Forest Seasons." The tracks "Eternal Darkness (Autumn)" and "Loneliness (Winter)" are particularly amazing and the latter track has made me cry many times (and Eternal Darkness has a fantastic representation of the suddenness of death). Jari Mäenpää (Wintersun's songwriter) wrote the music to The Forest Seasons after the death of his father, and you can especially feel the pain of Jari's loss in his vocal performance.
I just finished listening to the whole album and let me tell you Alex, I swear it is album of the year. Every second of the whole experience was magic.
Never before deathcore made me wanna cry. That's beautiful. Sad, but heartbreakingly beatiful in its sadness. Bittersweet - that's the exact word to describe the impression I got after first listening. Anyway, check out Ov Sulfur's singles, especially the latest one - "Stained in Rot". Ricky Hoover is back at the game, babe! Brutal, fast, extremely heavy - just like Lorna Shore.
Lorna shore. Just enough of a black metal element to draw me in as a MASSIVE fan. Yes, Will is a whole other level. Truly truly impressed. Hopefully my daughter and I can catch their tour
If there's one thing I reckon LS could do better, it's the song structure. Most of their songs follow the exact same pattern: Orchestra + blast beat intro - verse - chorus - verse - mini breakdown - chorus - guitar solo - ultimate breakdown - (optional third chorus to end). The songs themselves are always killer. Absolute brilliant mayhem. HOWEVER, I do think it gets too predictable if you listen to the entire album like that (which I have). LS have now established themselves and it works, I just kind of wish they won't be afraid to get a little more experimental with the future releases.
I agree, though each song is just so fantastic I can forgive them for it. And this nearly 10 minute song felt like maybe 5, they really do it so well. I’d consider this album them fine tuning their sound since adding Will, and hope they branch out a bit in the future
I feel like while it can get repetitive, I don't mind it at all, I listened to the whole album front to back the other night and I feel like as a whole it gave the album a sense of continuity and constant intensity that a lot of other albums and artists lack.
I was on releasing Twitch party with Nik Nocturnal and I can just say that i love this dude. We got some fun facts about album like track 6 and 7 should be switched because of chronology, or sword sound effect in last SUN//EATER breakdown is Sekiro reference. I love that
Lol there is a Sekiro reverence in Sun//Eater???? The burning Sound at the end of this song is literally the Dark souls bonfire Sound. I thought I couldn't love these guys more.
As I sit it in the darkness, surrounded by hellfire and despair, hearing the hellish screams of those around crying out. I try to ignore the torment as I ponder on my inner most private thoughts, wondering....WHEN ARE WE GETTING SLIPKNOT REACTIONS??!!
The entire album is a concept album. It's about a man who creates his own planet in his dreams. There he finds his great love, but there he loses it again and his planet begins to bore him. So he makes him disappear in flames and returns to reality. What will always grab me the most is the last verse in the song, in which all three parts are combined and give the whole thing a perfect ending.(Dancing like flames after all that I've done I'll salt the earth and disappear in a sea of fire) together with the fact that the melody from part one is picked up again in part three. This trillogy is a lyrical and musical masterpiece, with so much depth.
Holy FUCK!! This song just takes off right at the start of the music. No build up, no growth, just BAM!! Holy shit, it caught me off guard - not gonna lie. I figured it was going to be loud and heavy with the title.. but god damn. Dude's vocals are highly skilled. He's got multiple sounds that he can make and control well. The instrumentals in this song are just as bad ass! I definitely dig this song/video. Would/will I listen to this in my free time? Likely not. Nothing against this music! Just doesn't do it for me. The people making it are highly skilled and talented so it's not that I don't enjoy the music, I just don't listen to deathcore for fun. Glad that I know another proper awesome deathcore band though! Thanks for making this video, man. :)
The Pain Remains Trilogy of Lorna Shore presented the reality especially in the midst of sadness, suffering, and even pain. I mean, this is so real and I can relate to this. That's why Lorna Shore's album Pain Remains became my favorite album to listen.
As long as you can keep your head on straight everything has a tendency of working it self out for almost everything but somethings take time but the first part is still true.
I love all 3 pain remains songs from Lorna Shore, another band that brings out emotional songs is a rock band Citizen Soldier so i would highly recommend them.
This Song Legit Scares My Coworkers when I’m Blasting Lorna Shore at 3am . Thanks to Alex For Introducing me to Slaughter to Prevail That Then made me Find LornaShore . My Kid now listens to Lorna and I prevail I couldn’t be Prouder as a Father
Phase 1: the storm. Phase 2: the cold. Phase 3: the flames. It's a beautiful wave of emotional metaphors (not necessarily in this order) that deal with loss, negativity and hatred.
While I haven’t gone thru exactly what’s portrayed in these videos, I can empathize in other ways. Very long story short, I had highly aggressive stage 4 cancer last year and was pretty convinced that I was going to die. Fortunately, I ended up going into remission, and for various reasons, losing my Christian faith that I’d had my entire life (38 years at that point). Going through that kind of traumatic experience and then losing your lifelong faith definitely feels like mourning a loss of something, like a part of yourself, or the person you used to be. In the words of this song, I definitely witnessed the death of god and watched my world burn down. But I’m better for it. ✌🏻🤟🏻🤘🏻
If your enjoying the new Lorna Shore the new Worm Shepherd album from earlier this year, Ritual Hymns is also a banger album with symphonic-ish parts, would love a react to the title track!
I am NOT ashamed to say, this trilogy broke me. For anyone, including myself, who’s lost a loved one, this is emotionally brutal.

Will ramos is something else he can do any scream and any song this is my favourite band ever thank you @alex hefner for all the amazing reactions
Dude this song make me broke inside and outside, im cried :'(
I don't always listen to deathcore, but when I do, I listen to Lorna Shore
The 3 videos is so beautiful
I chocked on my tears.
What will always grab me the most is the last verse in the song, in which all three parts are combined and give the whole thing a perfect ending.(Dancing like flames after all that I've done
I'll salt the earth and disappear in a sea of fire)
together with the fact that the melody from part one is picked up again in part three.
This trillogy is a lyrical and musical masterpiece, with so much depth.
Yo! First one here. I haven't checked this out yet, should be fun!
I seriously need the link to this one. I can only find others.
I believe you are now an honorary metalhead
Awesome reaction man, you've gotta check out their song "Welcome Back, O' Sleeping Dreamer" that's gotta be their best song imo
As long as you can keep your head on straight everything has a tendency of working it self out for almost everything but somethings take time but the first part is still true.
Fucking love this album
Love you Alex
The pain remains trilogy is heavy lyrically and really moves ya
I love all 3 pain remains songs from Lorna Shore, another band that brings out emotional songs is a rock band Citizen Soldier so i would highly recommend them.
Picked it up on vinyl. Top 5 album imo.
NINE MINUTES?! Was my initial reaction, cause this song is so fuckin nuts it felt like 2 minutes
✌🏻🤟🏻🤘🏻
This trilogy has me so dehydrated. 😭
Yeah this album is on repeat, next level shit 🤘🏼🤘🏼
If you think this is the heaviest stuff, check out Nitheful’s new album. It makes everything else sound like pop rock in comparison.
you gotta do “Welcome Back , O’Sleepy Dreamer” ASAP
Whole album is 11/10
This shit is so real...don't we all have this fear of losing who we love the most? Even the worst people on the planet?
If your enjoying the new Lorna Shore the new Worm Shepherd album from earlier this year, Ritual Hymns is also a banger album with symphonic-ish parts, would love a react to the title track!
Best album I've ever heard
Make Them Suffer "Doomswitch"
Best trilogy ever.
Lorna Shore is unbeliveable good, this triology is brilliant. It`s a masterpiece of beautyful brutallity.
“It’s like HOLY FUCKING SHIT DUDE!” Yeah it’s like that lol.. 🤘
imnotcryingyourecrying-core
I have shit everyday but heavy music helps me
