I've had the Holy grail on my board for over ten years. It's the only reverb pedal I've had that never gets in the way of overdrive or boosts, and plays nice with both pre-and-power tube distortion.
And it sounds great too
Which one Harold? The original big box holy grail or the more recent nano or neo?
I really, really love the UA… a staple on my board for the last few months. The spring in mode B, plus a bit of analog slapback 👌 👌

Excellent and useful comparison. Thank you. I own the UA Golden Reverberator and it is absolutely musical. The plate and Hall settings are equally fabulous and being able to save an alternate more ambient reverb setting is wonderful! Home run. ABSOLUTELY LOVE this pedal!

It’s just not subtle. But for an effect it’s great
Thanks for the video. I had a flint and sold it when I got my VintageSoundAmps Vintage 15 which had a great reverb and tremolo. FF and decided to buy a Roland JC-22 which can accept stereo in the front end and in the effects loop so I bought back the Flint. I will never sell that pedal again. 3 trems and 3 verbs!

i love my holy grail. i’ve thought about upgrading to the Flint but even after watching this i really like how it sounds.

Thanks for your work on this well done. I am considering buying the Flint or the Golden. The Golden to my ears sounds the most natural and has a real warm tone and the fact that you can have two sounds is awesome. Thank you.

I think the Strymon and the Golden are the best of this batch. The holy grail sounds good, but it's limited in adjustability.

@@BuddaGuedes My pleasure. Ever thought about doing one of these with comps? Would be great to hear your thoughts on them (approaches, how you'd use them with different guitars/amps, stacking, etc) and I bet it'd sound great with your new Tele.

I have the Flint but I have to admit that the new Holy Grail NEO rules when it comes to the spring sound. The UAD is nice too. The problem with the FRV-1 is that it's impossible to use it in conjunction with a tremolo, so despite all the hype, it is not a great pedal. (I had one, sold it happily.) By the way the Keeley Verb o' Trem pedal has a killer spring reverb sound, easily on pair with the Flint.
Why do you say the frv-1 isn’t possible to use with a tremolo?
@@BuddaGuedes Because I tried the Supa Trem and TR-2 after and before the FRV-1 and the sound was not even close to the Flint. I didn't understand why. Sounded nothing like an amp with trem and reverb.
That will depend on a lot of stuff. You have to try the Surfybear

@@BuddaGuedes I found its just too much of a wash sound for normal playing or you turn it down enough for it not to matter that its a real spring, at least thats what i got with the metal, and I dont get that with the built it spring on my Princeton
You have to turn the dwell down if you need lesss wet!!

Boss isn't even close against the others. For me?, Grail Nano for the win.. size, simplicity. I've had a big box grail for almost 20 years now and it's great, but I think the nano sounds better.
I’ve also liked the holy grail.
Much prefer the sound of my Fender 63 tube reverb unit 😅

I have the FLINT which in this vid sounds the most artificial, also had Anasounds Element, Fender Tre-verb, Topanga and dont have the Golden but it sounds better from vids so far

So "Laika Plūsma" is spring reverb too and about pots I need to check it when I will be back in studio! But yeah, I think you could be right haha, I have been so busy this summer that it would not be a surprise that I have somehow added wrong names for pots. :)

What’s your power supply?
It depends . On this episode I think it’s an Harley Benton but I also use the True Tone CS SERIES
Golden >> Holy Grail > Flint >> FRV-1. Then the Laika is a different animal so hard to rate in the same list. The Flint is a bit overrated IMO. Value for money Holy Grail any day. Best of the best: Golden.
