- As requested, we took our Kabolite 336 and the old huina 580 out in between the rainshowers, to give you all a little comparison, and show you what you can expect from digging power out of the box.
Digging was done in:
- wet, rain compacted sand
- Hardpacked gravel driveway
- wet piled dirt/clay
- Hardpacked dirt

Its definitely a good machine id you can get it at a reasonable price. Quality controll isnt always the best, something that definitely contributes a lot to giving these a bad rep. But as a running machine, with a bit of tweaks on the mixes, its quite good😊

Really annoyed the guy said if I posted away my huina he would post away his digger but he took the huina and then didn’t give me his digger!😢 so I won’t be doing any more swaps in the future! Unless it’s someone I trust. But maybe when Christmas comes eventually I might ask for a big lot of machinery. Hope you doing well with your diggers👍

Can the slew speed be adjusted? The hydraulic machine moves nicely ... but its slew speed is way to fast, and makes the movement look sketchy and uncontrolled. Also, using that tilt attachment at the length it is, would be loosing about 1/3 or more of its digging power. Thank you for the side by side comparison ... if you happen to have them side by side again one day, maybe if you had the time you could take the tilt attachment off, and do another "DiG Off!" LoL! Again, thank you for an awesome video, you are very lucky to have 2 beautiful machines :)
The slew speed can be adjusted via the controller. These kabolites come with an fsi6s controller, and allow a lot of custom settings and mixes to fit different preferences😉
All well and good doing hard digging with the huina excavator it'll soon burn out, the electrics are apparently rubbish and the motor's that drive the arms are low grade motors.i have now upgraded to a hydraulic excavator and it's fantastic.
All depends on budget and expectations. Generally the later 1580 versions have had a long use time before becoming worn out though, and have slightly more power than the kabolite stock.

Thank you so much😊 the 580 definitely has a lot of power, and generally speaking, electric servos will be stronger, than hydraulics in this size. At the end of the day, it's a matter of taste. We love both😉 as you say, the electric is a bit to slow, but when it comes to raw power, the hydraulics are a bit weaker in our opinion.
From what we know, the kabolite loader has been sold out all over, and only been built in very limited quantities so far. But we would definitely love to get our hands on one, and should we succeed, we will make a similar video for sure😉👍
Hello, great video but there is big difference, that the huina has the tilting coupler, it loses much much power because bucket is farther from the boom. But still, really great video.
Thank you, and yes, you are correct.😎 This was actually thrown together as a hasty comparison, and is not exactly scientific. It still gives a fairly good representation, especially of what the kabolite is and isn't capable of, which was the main point😉 thank you for watching and commenting🙂

@@FMDRCConstruction I have Huina 1580 hydraulic converted and anymore, it can lift up 5 kilograms. But, I am not pleased with my excavator.. It is a bit small and after hydraulic convertion, it has some problems. Despite this, it can lift up 5 kilograms. If Kabolite is able to lift up 5 kilograms approximately, this is enough for me to decide to buy it. If it is possible, would you mind if you tested, how many kilograms could it lift up?
I just purchased the Huina 1580. The 336 is on sale now for $1600 US. Doing a research comparison this is a great video. IMO 336 not much better then the 580 just a lot faster. I'll save my money.

I've been thinking of purchasing a kabolite, but still not convinced that it is stronger than the 1580. It does move faster, but seems the 1580 is actually digging a better hole without a hump in the middle of the trench. I've got a 1580 and it works better than I expected. Someone help me decide to buy a kabolite lol. Thanks for a great video comparison. 👍
You aren't wrong in your observation. In some situation, the 580 has more torque, especially on the stick. The kabolite has been a decent entry into hydraulic excavators, just like the 580 in electrics. Sadly, the double E 1/14 160 volvo has been plagued with problems, and soner or later, wil fail. That said, it's Superior to both the 580 and the kabolite in every other way. Ive given up on mine, and will be upgrading it to hydraulics. If you dare to get into that yourself, you can get a good hydraulic, for about the same as the kabolite, in 1/14 scale😉 Norstates Rc can help with parts, and or converting it for you🙂 facebook.com/profile.php?id=100071708044958
I am in the same position, in fact the electric looks as strong, like the look of the kabolite and it has full proportional control, or shale I go for the Double E hydraulic.???
Sadly, I have little experience with the original hydraulic double E 160ec, so I cant say much about the one I have. The electric double e is a beautiful machine and runs great until it brakes, which it will. Its still worth buying IMHO, IF you are prepared to convert it to hydraulic once that happens. Both wuhlbox and magom do kits, and there's plenty of space for DIY builds.
Generally, all Rc machines have their weakpoints, but the huina 580 and kabolite are still well worth 500 and 1k$ today, if you can live with the scale.
I came to that conclusion. that the 1580 gives the most machine for the money, and it also seems to be the most accessories for this model..in other words.. you don't get twice better machine in a Kabolite, but you have to pay almost double the price for this model

The truth is, I'm completely new to this hobby, I just bought a 1580, and am eagerly awaiting delivery.. looking a bit after what accessories are available for this machine? already ordered some extra buckets, but a tilt would have been very great, as most of the real excavators have them today, then it would have become even more realistic, so I will certainly equip my machine with one in the future

Is the hydraulic model the same speed as the 1580, for track movement I mean. Just got the 1580 but I wish I would’ve got the hydraulic model for speed and power.

For the quick attach on the kabolite is that the same that would fit on the 580?
we designed it so that it fits the kabolite, and lets it use 580 buckets😉 - But the coupler wont fit a 580.

I can definetly see that🙂. The kabolite is a pretty good first hydraulic though if you can get it discounted closer to 1-1.2k😉
It looks to me like the 336 has a pressure bypass. Either that or the pump has poor clearances and fails to generate much pressure. This might be something that could be remedied. However if they did incorporate a bypass, it might have been to protect the cylinders or valve body or hoses or something. I would like to see how it performs if someone figured out how to up the pressure though.
Certainly lacks power/pressure. I belive the main problem is simply the diameter of the cylinders though. They are some of the smallest around, and won't be very powerful regardless of pressure.
@@FMDRCConstruction For sure. Bigger cylinder pistons would work too. I wonder of cylinders from a different machine could be purchased and installed.
@@vanpaul74 im sure you could do that. The pro of beeing underpowered is that you won't work the hydraulics to heavy, and brake something. Generally it's a great machine for someone looking for scale operating, in fairly loose material. If you want to rip hardpacked dirt and gravel, converting a volvo ec160 to hydraulics will be way more powerful, or a double ram 580.
I drive these machines at full size , the hydraulic one is almost identical the way it operates, the speed is almost identical but I have to say when you consider the electric one is half the price and probably less troublesome with leaks and messing.
Most i see operating these are trying to dig too much too soon , you need to peel the ground , all machines can struggle in hard ground .
On another video a guy wasn't happy because he couldn't simply turn the machine and load a wagon, you can't do this with most common weight machines upto 25tonne , you have to extend your dipper (forearm) to load from level ground.
Id guess the electric version will be more reliable??
Yes and no. The electric motors will wear out, but generally require less maintenance until they wear out.
The Kabolite excavator seems to bee stronger, it has a real hydraulic system :)

On the Subject of realism, I feel a lot of these hydro machines have pros and cons. They can be run prety realistic looking, but its difficult to get realistic power, whithout getting a bit to much speed, and tendencies to jerky movement. A lot can be mixed to suit your taste, but you usually end up with a few compromises.
Better 336 or 580 ? Which one is better?
It's really a question of budget and taste. In some ways, the 580 is stronger, in other ways the k336 is more powerful. At almost double price, it's still the cheapest hydro machine out there, and a detailed and nice machine for sure.
