I'll always marvel at the change that Sully brought to the pens when he came in, but if the team keeps trending the way it has I'm honestly not sure if he may make it through the season... If this team is clicking it's really beautiful, but when they check out and don't play with an element of control they tend get burned.
@@LockedOnPenguins yeah, some close calls the last couple years with basically missing the playoffs by like a game.. I just feel like I don't know that it's as much of a system issue as much as it's a liability problem. Any puck in the defensive zone should be hounded tenaciously and whoever's not responsible for the puck/ puck carrier needs to pick up a man and tie up a stick. These boys are at their best when they're playing stifling and swarming hockey. I thought the Acciari Glass Hayes line looked really solid last night and I was disappointed when that last flames goal went in. Thought Graves icing was terrible just ringing it around and not even getting a chance on the net (which is the only statistical reason you should be icing in that situation) if you're not going high hard and off the glass
I think Sid will come around, it definitely has been a slower start than normal. You guys mention about Sid and the Selke, I don’t think he would ever be a candidate, because he doesn’t play on the PK. You look at the guys who win the Selke what do they have in common, they all play on the PK. I think the highest he’s ever finished was fourth or fifth. Let me ask you both, do you think Kyle Dubas should give his old team Toronto a call about Timothy Liljgren? I know his name has come up in trade rumors. He could help fill a void in that top four of defenseman.
It's absolutely ridiculous how bad the Pens defensemen are, and how bad they are in the defensive zone. They're playing pond hockey. It's going to be a long season watching this mess.
Let me ask you both something, do you think Kyle Dubas should contact his old team the Toronto Maple Leafs about Timothy Liljegren? I know he's a right handed d-man, but I think he could be a good fit in the top four for the Penguins right now. I know he's been in trade rumors. I think it's something to think about given the Pens early season struggles on the backend, particularly in the top four.
It’s certainly possible but I wouldn’t put it as likely because I don’t think he would play over St. Ivany for example. They also do have Brunicke coming down the pipe, which is awesome. - Hunter
Look where Caps are right now. 10 points in six games. I don't think this team is worse than Caps, but Caps are a better coached team for sure. Also Crosby needs to improve his game right now.
Both Sid and Geno seem to have taken their foot off the gas since they both reached their milestones, Geno has been pretty invisible too. They seem to be getting more scoring from their bottom six now. Imagine if the top two lines started contributing? I think maybe Sully's shelf life has expired? This team is better than they look.
You knew Geno wouldn’t have kept up THAT good of production but I think he’s still gonna be fine. Sid’s line needs to start cooking A LOT more. Sully’s shelf life he definitely expired IMO but I don’t think they’re gonna do anything about it. - Hunter
Another game I think Ned played good except the SO. Just Lazy and sloppy D in front of him. And the pens will have a random burst of looking like a really good team for like 10 minutes then go back to sloppy and just bad play. Gotta be more aggressive and hard to play against all 60 minutes.
My nicknames are head coach Mike Suckagain and Dan Bylsma 2.0 for Sully. I'd put Bunting with 87 to see if they have chemistry that will make a bona fide top line. Bunting--87--Rust/Rakell. Just watch Dan Bylsma 2.0 will never play Bunting with 87 even though Bunting played with the top players on the Leafs. Dan Bylsma 2.0 has made up his mind Bunting plays with Geno. NEVER SID AND BUNTING. Even though Dubas traded 87's winger Guentzel for Bunting. In addition, put Bunting in front of the net on the powerplay.
Hey guys do you think its a coincidence that Sids game has turned into a mess right around the time EK and letang started doing their little circus acts (trying to manage the game) get Sid away from those two for a couple of shifts and see what happens. Here's a little scenario, you get the puck in the O zone you battle on the boards for 8-10 seconds you throw it back to the point someone there does a little shake and bake instead of putting at the net and turn the puck over and you get to try it again, we all know that if Sid can reach the puck he can put it in the net I think that the play of the entire D is playing on his conscious he has no faith in them right now do any of us really? Im not worried yet, Id rather this happen now than Jan onward
Honestly? I don’t. I think he’s just been in a total rut a bit and needs to claw his way out of it. He was putting up great numbers last year even when Karlsson wasn’t playing as well so I think he will figure it out

They should’ve just cut their losses during the offseason but they seem to still be happy with him (based on what ownership and the GM have said).

I'm tired of seeing Mike Sullivan chewing gum on the bench.
Me too , but man he had a nice suit last night

Would you rather he sip a Fanta ?

It's like they want Sullivan to stick around until the team is young enough to play his system again.
I’m telling people, I’d kinda be surprised if he was let go during this season. - Hunter

Sid is playing similar now as last season when Jake was traded..he will shake it off soon enough
Yep I think he will too. - Hunter
