Hi there, your knowledge and willingness to share with viewers is way above most other Utube NZ Hunting Vids ! Well done mate and i look forward too your Roar episodes ! Cheers
Haha good stuff. Loved this video. Great scenery and camera work, great hunt. Like your off-mountain stuff too and bringing that into your on-mountain vids really brings it all together. Good you’re shooting goats too. Any spots in particular down here that need some goat number reductions? They’re great practice for spook and shoot eh?
@carldoesusa haha, had that question a bunch after this video, sure giys are wanting to go for the goats...my standard answer is every stream has mobs of goats in the remutakas, just go hard on them.
@@hardantlerhunting9691 what grain weight projectiles you running in the 284win? Ive got factory norma 160g and winchester X and XP deer season 140g for the 7mm08 and hornady 150g 140g for 7mm rem mag, cant find anymore 175g winchester, be good to get into reloading got a ton of brass ive kept over the years, took 3 stags with winchester 175g 7mm rem mag 2022 roar 1 shot kills, took 3 stags in 2023 1 shot kills with the 7mm08, 3 different loads thru the 75 without any adjustment, 1st stag norma 160g 80 yards in the lungs, 2nd stag hornady superformance 139g sst neck shot 168 yards, 3rd stag fiocchi 140 BT 30 yards frontal neck, go the 7mms, i like the look of those high boot crispys, i run a stiff shank full rand meindal in the alpine, dont like gaiters either with the added weight on legs when wet, have got some real short stoney creek ones that go upto top of boot which are ok, on my 2nd pair irish setter full boot for bush stalking, got 10 years out of the elk tracker, didnt look after them like i shud of, taken down a few meat animals january early feb 2 with the mathews monsta compound bow, chopper booked for 8th april countdown on... gear check n prep goodluck 🏕
@Sako75.7mm08 Hey mate. I run a handload using the 180eldm. RL26 in a custom throat long action, so 3.15 OAL with 20 thou freebore. It runs at 2765 fps so nipping the heals of the 7PRC in real-world velocities. Factory ammo in NZ is non existing in 284 Win.
@@hardantlerhunting9691 yea nice, how longs the barrel? Ive been interested in the 284win after watching a ron spoomer podcast while back, ive got a sako 85 SS 7mm rem mag 24 inch barrel, put a contessa rail on to stop the cases hitting underside of scope after realising the ejection issue, the synthetic stock soft touch recently went like sticky boogers, after cleaning it for a while got a 85 laminate stock and put that on, got a xbolt hells canyon long range 7mm rem mag with 1:8 twist heavy 26inch barrel, was pretty picky, tried 10 different factory ammo brands/weights, shot a differend type each day to not cook the barrel and found it shot 3/4 inch 3 shot groups at 100 yards with the winchester 175g and hornady superformance 154 sst, the 3 shots where taken in under a minute also so they may have closed up more with longer rest between shots thou i wanted to see how it would perform in a multiple shot hunting situation, interesting that those same 2 loads shot 3/4 inch in the 85
Very nice!
Cheers 👌

@@Sako75.7mm08 20inch. The 284 win is an efficient case.
What binos do you use ?
Vixen for the bush if I'm going light. Ridgeline 10x42 for everything else. Good binos, the ridgeline for $350
