I have to say that this video brings back so many fun memories for me. I have been on ever single lake that you where on. What where the names of all the lakes that you traveled on your route as there are a couple different options in which to travel back there? As a younger lad I spent many a days and weekends on Scrabble Lake. We had a fishing cabin that we had built there back in the late 60's early 70's. My dad and my brother and my uncles and nephews (so I guess you could say my entire family...lol) took a few trout out of that lake and all the surroundings lakes. Not sure how the trails would be now but when we where using them we kept them well maintained. That muskeg that you where slogging through sure looked like fun. I know that spot well. :-) If you ever do that route again take a few minutes and scout out the right side of that swamp and see if you can find the portage trail between the two lakes there. It would be on the right side heading in the direction you where heading. It is not very easy to see but it was there when I used it. It may have completely grown in by now but worth a shot. Due to an unfortunate accident back there we where made by DNR to burn down our cabin. I sure do miss being there and listening to the sounds of nature. We use to walk in from Whites Lake up the train tracks to Kelly's Meadow and then hike up over the mountain as we called it. We got smart in our old age and cut a better and easier path from the Musquodoboit River into Whites lake and then across Sparrow Lake and then into Scrabble Lake. Much easier going that way for sure. There where many old camps back there when I was younger. Did you happen to find any in your travels? My days of being able to go there are now gone due to disability issues, but I just want to say that you for letting me remember all the great times I had back there. Keep up the great work and I will be waiting for your next video where ever that may take you. Cheers, Tom

Thanks for the note Tom, I'm really glad we could spark some nostalgia for you. We did bump into a few cabins on our travels. Also, we searched for a portage on the right side of the bog for sometime but it looked to be completely grown in with 6-8' pines. Cheers, Noah

That is a great area, have done some hiking around Admiral Lake but never paddled. It would be wonderful if the portages could be re-established. Thanks for sharing.

An Awesome video, beautifully produced. I have never done that trip, but the bushwacking old portages resonated - trips in the Tobeatic Wilderness were similar. cheers. David Macdonald

The map of the loop in the beginning of the video was made with my GPS. Prior to that there was no information on the whereabouts of the portages

You ever get the horrible feeling when you're on a non existent portage trail, that the real trail is just 10ft to your left?
Or that when you're pushing through a big like that, that it's full of leeches?

on this day in 2015 i had a canoe accident , left me whit spinal injury , no more walking for me , but the reel tragedy my friend died , he drowned , he insisted to not wear the safety gear , no belt no helmet , i was wearing them and still hit a rock in categories 4 to 6 trouble water , i'm used to it , him to , but spring temperatures are some time above normal dissent .
So guys were safety equipment , 500 death by drowning per years in Canada , you dont want to be of that numbers , i had to tell his wife about the accident that left me paralyse.
