  • Let's talk money! I want to introduce the basics of investing, compounding, top robo advisors and other millennial friendly investing platforms, because I recently researched this stuff and learned so much that I wish I had learned sooner! You can start investing even if you have little money. Hope this video helps - again I must emphasize that I am NOT an expert, please don't rely on my info and do your own research by consulting credible resources. Links below!

I learnt a lot from this but I'm like still a child hahah. It's really irritating how school doesn't teach me about personal finance and investment and being wise with money, all this sorta stuff is evidently very important in life

consolidate your debt to one low interest rate when you start to get serious about fixing your debt, also investing in yourself and your own company can yield some great outcomes, and in some cases can even give you more money faster in the long run.

This is a good video to introduce people new to investing to at least look into their finances.
    Some good takeaways to viewers:
Pay off your high interest loans. It'll not make sense to not pay that off first as you are eating the interest. If you make interest from investment it is lost because you are still paying high interest on cards.
Have a savings account of at least 6 months for emerrgencies. This is self explanatory.
Invest with long term mind sent if you want to invest for retirment, and mix it up with some risk.
It'd have been good if you talked about Index funds. Seeing as though vanguard has a very famous one, it's the easiest and lowest cost way to buy a fund and just hold on to it without getting "professional help". This is what you get when you try not to beat the market and just enjoy the consistent 8-10% return for years.
"My advice to the trustee couldn't be more simple: Put 10% of the cash in short-term government bonds and 90% in a very low-cost S&P 500 index fund. (I suggest Vanguard's.) I believe the trust's long-term results from this policy will be superior to those attained by most investors - whether pension funds, institutions or individuals - who employ high-fee managers." - Warren Buffet
Great content as always and thank you for sharing your experience. I didn't know there was such a thing as "millenial friendly" and Etrade is moms app. I guess I'm old lol #feelsbadman

    • @lavendaire
      @lavendaire  7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

great comment! thanks for rounding up the points :) I had in my notes a section explaining stocks & bonds and maybe mention ETFs/index funds but I decided to cut it out because it would make the video too long and technical. I didn't want to overwhelm people, but thanks for this info and the Warren Buffet quote!!
and loll i didn't mean to make you feel old! I'm very visual so I care a lot about simple/effective design and user friendly platforms.

I have a B.S. in Business Administration, so I learned all of that stuff, too. But, I'm a freelance writer / graphic designer who is a graduate student in Information Systems. So, I landed in technology.

With these forms of investing, how long do they have to sit around? I would love to do something that grows over say, 10 years instead of 30.

everything has its risks! investing for 10 years would be more "risky" than 30 but it's totally doable. Longer time usually means more growth. In 10 years, it won't grow as much. If you want it to grow fast in 10 years, you will have to take more risk and really do your research to trade on your own!

interest is the reason people are in debt in the first place
imo its not fair money. You make money out of nothing and thats on the back of someone else.
Invest in real estate or w/e and earn honest money by renting it
