Not only Macedonians like Esma. I know lots of people with no roots in the region that like her and her music. Also, don't you have better stuff then to troll?
I was sent here by a friend, am not Macedonian, and I loved it. I am a life long musical artist (of Scots heritage) who listens with a critical ear and a child's open ear wonder, simultaneously. This was entertaining and wonderfully complex in a way that reminds me of Dixieland at its best-not in style, but in its tightly interwoven parts.
She's Romani & there are plenty of us Romani in the USA so of course we love her

As for the orchestra, my opinion (for what it's worth) is: excellent close-knit professionals. Bravi!
In particular I liked the trumpet which turns out to be skilled in virtuosic passages and sweet in melodic passages.

Wow, this was unexpected, KEXP was the last place where I thought I would see Esma. Thank you KEXP, keep up the good work :-)
I think it is interesting that there was some correction about Queen of Gypsy Music vs. Queen of Romani Music. Here in the US, there is a romantic view of Gypsies but my understanding is that being called a Gypsy is not always considered flattering in Southern Europe. So, I imagine that a marketer from the music label gave her the moniker of "Queen of Gypsy Music" here in the USA but the translator, being from Macedonia, was quick to correct that.
