These are some nice videos! My school’s fleet consists of about 15 IC CEs ranging from 2006 to 2021, and 3 Bluebirds from 2007. They’re all pretty basic, not too featured but they run like tops. All have Kenwood radios in them, I’m not used to seeing these start up and not hear the Kenwood Startup beep.
Another beautiful bus! Beautiful LED headlights! Back when I was in school, if we wanted “A/C” our bus driver would pop up the roof emergency exits for ventilation and open the windows. Lol.
If you are ever specing a c2 again, I suggest getting the overhead storage racks, they are better than ic or bird, because of the roof design, it gives more room
Those luggage boxes would be even nicer if available with a Line-X or Rhino type lining on all surfaces. I enjoy your videos and your attention to detail on these buses.
I love the mud flap, whats the difference between having the full width flap right behind the wheels vs having regular mud flaps and the full width behind them more towards the rear? A set up like that, regular mud flaps with a full width towards the rear was a common set up on the FS-65 it seemed.

@@SwannBus I knew this one was NOT a route bus - wrong numbering for a route bus in CCPS. (CCPS route buses used to only run up to 199; despite the growth, I doubt they have cracked 200 for route buses yet. 5xx/6xx/7xx are used for charters/trips/odd-duck buses; the ONLY reason I remember the 6xx and 7xx series is due to some VERY odd-ducks; 60x were a trio of Thomas Vistas in the 199x period owned by Keller Transportation Service (600, 601, and 602). Compton Bus has odd ducks used for parochial service in the 4xx series; mostly transits. Do either Calvert or Saint Mary's have special numbering for trip and other non-route buses?

I know at least one is a camera for the 360 but what is the other? And if it makes you feel any better, the IC Air factory setup on the RE I was working on is priced around $25,000 for the whole setup.
Good eye, one of the cameras is the 360 cameras, the other is where the cameras was installed in the wrong location. So, they just added another camera in the right place. I choose to leave the wrong camera because it would leave a hole in the roof and would have to be filled, primed, sanded, and painted which would have delayed delivery. Had I known COVID was going to shut us down, I would have had them fix it properly. Again, good eye!

Also, what are your thoughts on Thomas vs IC? It seems you have a preference and was curious as to what keeps you going back whether it be customer service, quality, price, ect.
They are both very good buses. IMO, ICs are easier to work on and find parts for. Thomas’s drive better, but I feel IC builds a better body. Again, they are both good buses and I’ll probably continue ordering both brands.
@@michaellehman4944 you can spec an IC with an all-riveted body and IMO it turns the body into a vault. Makes the entire bus feel so solid. The rivet/adhesive combo on the Thomas C2 is light and nimble but noisy.
Hey what about the new dd5 I would like to see a video on it if you don’t mind. I am actually a mechanic at my school district been doing it for 4 years now and the transportation director is about to retire and offered me the job so they want me to do both mechanic and director I I would like to know what your position is on the dd5 because we mostly buy Thomas. I also work at empire truck sales which is the freightliner and Thomas dealership here down south
Congratulations on the promotion, so far I really like the DD5. It’s super easy on fuel and hardly uses any DEF. As for performance, it doesn’t pull as strong off the line as the Cummins, but gearing has a lot to do with it. I’d go pretty aggressive opting for at least a 5.56 (what I have). You could easily go as short as 6:13 and still have decent mpgs on the highway when coupled to the 6-speed Allison.

The bus goes through a start-up sequence, when the lights go out it’s ready.

Depends on the customer, public school makes the routes for us, private school has us create the routes.
