With the right tire size and gobs of torque I do 70psi. If I get stuck ( haven’t yet ) it’s not hard to drop my tires and get out. I wait because I’m lazy and I don’t want to spend the time airing back up every time I hit the beach.

Don't stress. Yes it's bad practice but in this case there was never enough energy to be a big problem. At best the two vehicle got up to 10kmh and hardly even stretched the snatch strap. It takes a lot more than that to break the ball or strap. Would I do it.....no.

The idiots these days seem to mostly fall into 2 camps.
The old codgers who retired and bought a 4x4, learned nothing about off roading, and think they know best just because they're older.
And the younger blokes who bought a dual cab because holden and ford stopped making commodores and falcons, who think a lift, muddies and arrogance is enough to get by.
Just drop your pressures and don't drive like you're trying to kill people.

One track in and one track out. No section of sand on Fraser sees as much traffic. It's pretty chewed up during peak periods and also after not having any rain for some time. The southern half of Fraser is normally not too bad compared to this and it's where most people spend their whole Holiday. Those who venture north of Indian Head, orchid beach and beyond would find this child's play

Thank God that most of our boat launch ramps here in America have good roads that lead to them.

This is one of the most picturesque and beautiful places on the planet. The fishing is unrivalled anywhere on earth. There’s guys are putting the boats on a barge and taking them to Fraser Island. There, they have many kilometres more to tow them to get to a camp site before they even consider launching them. Not something that appeals to me, but each to their own! I go there for the driving and the sightseeing. By the way, we have many very well set up boat launching facilities. 😁

One Question Why is it so popular in aussie to remove the standard truck bed and replace it with a flat bed? i understand if you go for the aluminuim canopy but there are so many with flat beds. do you all haul wide and long stuff all day long?

Because it's much more useful. I had a tub with canopy and anything that's near the front can be difficult to reach. I swapped it over to a flat tray and it's the best thing I ever did. The wide gull wing doors on the canopies make access ridiculously easy in comparison. I now have 2 "jack off" canopies, one for work and one for camping. The jack off canopies have a leg on each corner which you simply wind up or down making it easy to change by simply driving out with the legs raised, or just use the flat bed for really big things. Great set ups.

How many times were the muppets in the 80 told to drop their tyre pressures?
I recovered a couple of young blokes on Stockton Beach a couple of weeks back. My first question was what are your tyre pressures. I'd suggest everyone needs to ask that question before helping anyone.

Agreed. I have helped a lot of people with different 4x4's and some 2x4's stuck in sand, all of them rookies with high tyre pressure , never had to use a strap. Taught them about correct pressures and all of them got out on their own.
