On my cruise last week we were on the outside seating area by the buffet at the very back of the ship. We looked over to enjoy the wake view but also got a view of a couple sunbathing below us totally naked. Everyone who looked over that public balcony was going to be able to see them!
I have actually seen something similar with those aft staterooms. I advise all of my clients to be aware of that when staying in an aft cabin. Thanks for watching!
I'm a smoker, i would never smoke in a public area and it annoys me when people who vape do. It's the same thing as smoking and it's just rude. There are plenty of smoking areas for that.
Yes, I agree. We are currently cruising and this week there has been a lot of balcony smokers. Our neighbors have reported it several times. It diminishes a guest’s cruise balcony experience. Thanks for watching!
great video & information. just wondering if you can advise, am looking at an Alaska 7 day north bound cruise, one with Royal Princess & the other Nieuw Amsterdam, HAL, both are identical itineraries, which ship would you pick please? 🤗
That is a tough one! Your itinerary is fantastic having located both options. I have sailed on Nieuw Amsterdam before and never on Princess. They are VERY similar premium products but do have a few differences. Royal Princess is a bigger ship with 19 decks and 3,560 guests. Nieuw Amsterdam has 2,106 passengers. They both do Alaska very well. Princess will have a slightly younger demographic and have a slightly more clean luxurious feel. HAL will be more traditional in look and feel with an older demographic. HAL might have an edge with entertainment IMO based on this class of ship containing Music Walk. I did learn that Royal Princess was also just refurbished in 2018 and is 5 years newer than NA. You can't go wrong with either line but I see really great reviews for Princess. The Princess Medallion technology is also very cool being able to order food or drinks where ever you are on the ship using the app and the Medallion which replaces your key card. If you are looking for a low key, relaxing experience with less people, HAL might be your choice. If you want a younger crowd with more venues and things to do, then Princess. I'm leading towards Princess. I would highly recommend a balcony cabin on the Starboard side of the ship going Northbound since land will be in sight throughout your sailing. You can check out more about Holland America by watching my comparison of Celebrity Cruises and Holland America on my channel. We are sailing on Eurodam in March to the panama canal - it is the sister ship to the Nieuw Amsterdam. Also, see what each include as a promotions. Drinks and Wifi are strong possibilities. Good luck and enjoy that itinerary!!
thank-you so much for your detailed reply, that is so kind of you! very much appreciated! i had a look at both ships at online you tube videos, the nieuw amsterdam, whilst it has had an update in areas, it looks very nice, but it looks a bit dated, the bright red main dining area gives it a bit of a 90’s feel, that is probably being a bit picky, lol, whilst more people will be on board the princess ship, i think princess may be the go, i love the big open piazza area on the princess boat. that is a great tip about being on the starboard side too! thank-you again! btw, i would have actually chosen celebrity, but unfortunately they don’t go to glacier bay.🤗
@@jackwyatt6543 I think that you are making the right choice with Princess. They and HAL both do an exceptional job in AK. I had to laugh regarding that red dining room on NA. It is very red and is outdated. Princess is very elegant and I think you will be very happy with your choice. I'm glad that you noticed my recommendation for Starboard side. That is huge for your itinerary. I wished that Celebrity did glacier bay but HAL and Princess have mostly cornered the market there. Only two (maybe 3) ships are allowed each day. Our glacier experience on Celebrity was very good but it could have been better. We also missed Mendenhall Glacier helicopter tour from Juneau due to weather. Enjoy this sailing!
We were on a cruise a few years ago and a man would smoke cigars on his deck. It was blowing on to my deck. I thought I would throw up from the stench. Very thoughtless behavior…besides being not allowed.
One other no no. Do not go nuts and rush an elevator. Let people off before you go in. Please be respectful to handicapped guests that can't take the stairs.
@@seemoreseascruises3791 We're Disney. The crew takes safety and the rules very seriously. Twelve cruises on DCL and never smoking on the verandahs, vaping, speakers, or drunks/fights.
@@CruisingEngineer I would think that Disney would do a great job of enforcing the rules. I also would assume that the demographic would also be a more responsible guest. I don't see many of these on Celebrity Cruises either.
@@seemoreseascruises3791 Yes, you are very observant about DCL's guests. We've sailed Celebrity Millennium and that was a nice cruise. No Carnival for us. Waiting on Gary Bembridge to announce member's cruise details for HAL. Another calm cruise line.
@@CruisingEngineer I think that DCL, X, and HAL attract a similar type cruiser. Gary allowed me to reference him on my HAL Panama Canal preview and gave me some great advice. Would love to go on that cruise. We have cruised HAL before and are doing another 10 day HAL in March. I think you and I both fit and like the premium segment. I occasionally will go Royal but Carnival is normally not within my search universe either.

That is just awful. It blows my mind how people can be so self absorbed thinking that they are above the rules of common decency. Thanks for watching!

Oh that is a good one! I see that happening all the time. Makes me crazy! Thanks for watching!
Are u a hosier?
Yes I am! Did my undergraduate days at IU Bloomington!
What cruise line were you on that didn't take action when guests were not obeying the rules?
This happens on almost all cruise lines. My most recent 4 night on MSC had the smoking, vaping and guests using speakerphone in inappropriate places.
