      Landing was pretty much perfect. Nothing you can do about the tail swing at the end, not landing on grass... with no wheel brakes, and quite a small rudder, theres just no way your going to counter that tail swing. Different resistance on each wheel, due to uneven grass, and not having the weight to just go straight ahead, she is going to swing. Only way to counter that is maybe land on tarmac, and even then still might if theres slight differences in the wheel bearings.
      Those ww1 aircraft had tiny rudders. Very difficult to keep in a straight line while on the ground. Go check out footage of real, full size replicas in flight, or any original footage. A LOT of them will tail swing at the end

    • @Pete-tq6in
      @Pete-tq6in 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was thinking that during the whole flight, he didn't touch the rudder on takeoff, the model turned through 90 degrees due to engine torque before it left the ground, he let the model screw over the loop without correcting with any rudder, he also didn't cut the throttle down the back side of the loop and on landing the model was weathercocking from the round-out to the moment it ground-looped. It's rare that a scale modeller of this standard gets enough stick-time to be truly proficient because they spend so much time building as opposed to flying but the lack of rudder coordination and use throughout this flight was painful to watch.

Amazing they kept it under weight. I had been working on my pilots liscense back in 2013. I'm 33 now. I have enough flight time in Cessnas plus all the experience of sims that flying an ultralight around in a circle on a nice day is more than fine and safe (enough) for me. I don't have a desire to invest my entire life into flying. Already did that with music lol. Owning a little ultralight that I can play with on nice days and fly for the price of a fill up on my car is more than enough!
