There are government trends around the world including here in the US and Australia to erase history whether in the form of statues or artifacts. If young people have no historical reference then they are more likely to accept despotism or even genocide. And I think that's their hope.

My father brought back a star with the word "Juif" on it. He and my mother donated it before they died. In the late '80s, I was acquainted with a rabbi that ran a Holocaust museum and research center in St. Louis, MO. I asked him how my father may have obtained the star and he told me that, as the war was ending and the Germans were being pushed back, people simply tore them off, threw them away, and they were lying around everywhere.

When I was maybe 8 years old I saw an old book sitting on our dining room table. I remember opening the cover and a signature, Adolf Hitler was written in pencil. At that age I didn’t know much about the Holocaust. When I was in my 20s my dad and I were talking about WWII. He mentioned he had a friend who was in the military and brought home items from the war. This friend had recently died and his wife asked my dad to take a look at some of his WWII items to see if any of it might be worth something. Long story short, my dad contacted a museum in DC who bought the book for their collection and my dad gave his friend’s wife all the money from it. He refused to take any money (the wife offered him a generous amount for helping her) but he declined. The BIG shock was the book had actually belonged to Himmler (museum researched and confirmed). My dad did keep a genuine Nazi flag (his friend gave it to him before he died) which has been in storage for years. I still can’t believe I touched something so historical and had no idea what it was.

In one episode, Erik was asked what his most important artifact is, and he mentioned that he has the only known sample of Hitler’s blood on a cloth. With all the advances in DNA, I can see that being a really important scientific ‘sample.’ Maybe the DNA analysis of it will discover something interesting in the future.

I´ve handled a few of those Jewish stars and the blue and white striped clothes that many wore in the camps amongst other things. It is a truly bone chilling reminder and a sort of a reality check of sorts. We have all heard the stories. Heard the witnesses and the one´s who did the deeds. We have all seen the places where the atrocities happened, watched the movies and documentaries. Read the books. We think we understand, but still it´s hard to grasp. But when one sees or handles the real deal stuff like this it all becomes very real indeed. Very close, very personal. Yet so hard to believe all the evil. That doll though.... Great video as always.

As a Dutchman it is kind of bizarre to see these symbols of evil displayed like valuable collectibles. Over here collecting this stuff is highly controversial and will raise questions about whether you're a nazi. I know there are collectors for this stuff over here as well. But you wouldn't see a video like this, casually displaying nazi memorabilia, on Dutch tv. I guess it's different in the US, because most of this stuff are war trophies brought back by GI's and you don't have the history of being occupied by the nazis and having your citizens brutally murdered in concentration camps. But it somehow still gives me the creeps.

HOLY CRAP a signed copy of Mein Kampf by Adolf Hitler? 😳 I see copies of this book every time I'm in Barnes and Noble, and get creepy feelings when just passing it on the shelf. And I agree with other comments, that that S.S doll is creepy, but also intriguing. It looks like it has a gun in its saluted hand? And to think that parents, and their children at that time were totally brain washed into thinking this was normal and ok, is sickening. It also makes me feel grateful and blessed to be alive today. 80 million people dead. A horrid World War because of one man's evil ideology. In J.Ds words, Holy Moly. It's mind blowing. Its hard to imagine what it was like for those poor people having to wear those stars, knowing their lives meant nothing is SO sad. This is REAL History, and just like you guys said, while it sickens us today, this is STILL History, and it is fascinstimg all at the same time. I love your videos, keep 'em coming!!!

In Australia: From the Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, He noted there was legislation before the federal parliament to ban the public display and sale of Nazi symbols. The bill, introduced in mid-June, will make it an offence to seek to profit from such material in stores or online. It will not ban private ownership or transfers of artefacts that are not for profit. Under the Albanese government’s laws, selling Nazi memorabilia would attract fines of up to $16,500 and apply to the Nazi swastika, known as the Hakenkreuz, and insignia relating to the Schutzstaffel (SS), Adolf Hitler’s paramilitary force.
The bill would not prevent private ownership of the Hakenkreuz or SS material, or their display as war memorabilia in museums.

I got a medal a lapel pin and another pin thats looks maybe gold. And an armband my grandfather brought home. I'm told by people at militeria events that armbands were never stamped with maker marks. I thought some did.
