Uh, this is true. Nurses run the show, Doctors are just the tourists. I worked at a Hospital after college (I was a computer programmer) and saw how the Nurses ran things. Any doctor who got sassy with a nurse got taught a rude lesson. It was funny at times to watch some arrogant Intern (or Resident) who thought they were hot stuff get taught a lesson.

Nurses do have respect for the doctor's, but if a doctor disrespects a nurse... oh boy, that doctor is in for it from all the other nurses in the unit. I would have enjoyed to see one of the senior RN's teach you a lesson.
Except Carter had meant no harm in the first place, and didn't even know he'd done something wrong. Yet they keep riding his ass to exhaustion anyway, when they could have just talked him straight and skipped the punishment crap.
I think she would have been that way with any uppity first year, regardless of their race. Hell even Peter knew not to mess with her or the other nurses.

Nurses don't sleep on shifts because their shifts are much shorter than doctors' (eg at most 12h compared with doctors' 24h).
