Part of what makes gardening so satisfying is marveling at how just adding water to a dried up dead looking seed sparks it to life. It never gets old. Water must be magical.

Simple and great information. First time bean planter here, now I know all I have to do is water and wait for my harvest.
I'm leaning more toward pole beans than bush beans lately multiple reasons -- they can produce larger bean pods over a longer period of time, and they are farther off the ground, ared less prone to problems with ground-based pests like slugs, and are easier to find and pick. But both are vulnerable to japanese beetles and grasshoppers. Kentucky Wonder is the granddaddy of pole beans, they can climb 20 feet but refuse to wake up before midsummer, and have strings to remove. Just this year I tried Northeaster, which are even bigger, tender even when huge, and can start much earlier -- mine have been producing since May and are still going (though not as gangbusters as 2 months ago).

I grew those same Dragon Tongue beans over this summer. They were super good and extremely easy to grow!

I am so thrilled with your Geeky Greenhouse channel, it's just awesome! Late winter in New Hampshire it's food for the soul and a great way to brush up on and absorb more useful info. I discovered that "Jade" Green bush beans (followed by Top Crop and Contender) are exceptional for freezing, Home Depot had Jade seeds so I was real happy.
My gold rush beans are almost harvest ready don't want them to thin out on me so picking soon. I notice a white web on some of them, some kinda pest ugh 😑 hope that doesn't slow production.

Is it too late to plant beans as a fall crop? My frost date is mid-January, but things start to cool off in November.
with the summer heat and sun, things grow so fast, i am in zone 5a, mine was planted about july 20, and i space out every 4 days to plant more, my first batch is already producing tons of beans til a rabbit decided to eat it quite a few plants, but i do have more on the way, but anways, thats only 40 days from seed to some results
The time to figure out what you're going to do with all your beans isn't 2 weeks before harvesting Lol. It's when you're planting so you plant the right amount, something I haven't mastered yet.
You should seriously mulch your soil.
