Man... I was interested to see what he was going to use, to sharpen that A2.

Any natural or synthetic abrasive will work. They don’t Rockwell them super hard (between 57-59) so it’s a softer steel and can be sharpened on just about anything meant to sharpen knives. A good budget option is wet/dry aluminum oxide sandpaper and a sponge if you have a convex edge or the same sand paper and a 2x4 if you have a scandi grind like this knife in the video.

@GerstBladeworks Ah, many thanks! I got a Genesis as soon as it came out, and have been using it for over 10 years. Initially, all I had were Arkansas stones, and let me tell you... they cut EXTRA slowly, on this knife. haha That was a nightmare. I've found that water stones cut a little slowly also, but ceramic does well, for me. And I've not tried it on this knife, but I can imagine that sandpaper is what I should have gone to initially, rather than the Arkansas stones. But thanks again, for the input- I do a lot of spoon carving, so I'm always looking for new sharpening info. 👍👍

@@TheShurikenZone oh yeah man!! No problem ! I just got into carving actually, and I have found that using the sponge and sandpaper method on the convex edges works wonderfully. I love Arkansas stones, but you are right, they cut super slow. I cannot recommend the “kuromaku” stones enough, they are made by Shapton in Japan and are the best value and quality you can get for your money. I use the 300 and 1000 grit the most. They are a “splash and go” stone, meaning that you don’t have to soak them at all. Seriously man, pick one up in your favorite grit, it will really cut down on your sharpening time and give you incredible edges

@@GerstBladeworks Hey- Thanks for that, man! I'll need fresh water stones pretty soon, anyway. May need to give these a try. 👍👍
