True. They were still being cops, just acting nicely so you don't realize you are getting interviewed. The best way to get someone talking when you are a cop is to make sure they don't realize you are talking to one.

Congrats to the police in your country. Actively communicating with people and being open to new hobbies and learning how people participate safely. Awesome!

That attitude is refreshing. That said I've never had any problems with the police here in the UK, only with a couple of dog walkers and in both those cases *they* were trespassing!
Similar to most (if not all) encounters I've had in NL. They are mostly just curious and sometimes fancy a ride-along. As long as you behave and respect the environment, there's really no fuzz. (Schiphol CTR being the exception perhaps because of all the media)
My ex's dad is a cop, and he told me to always keep my answers as short as possible, and if at all uncomfortable say nothing at all. Their trick is to always seem like its just casual conversation and very friendly and just asking questions, but they are in uniform which means they are on the clock and they are really trying to determine if there is anything they can catch you for that's illegal, because that's literally their job. They were just buttering him up first to get him to volunteer information that he was doing something illegal, like flying above legal limits, flying beyond visual range (illegal), or spying on people.
I do not know what country you are from, but the police here does not work like that. Besides, there is no official drone regulation yet out here and so it is only possible to fine someone if they either catch him doing it or if there was a report.
+DumbDuck44 On the other hand. They can only fine you when they have seen you break the law with their own eyes. These officers were just striking conversation, which is a good thing. They need to be on people's good side.
The police... dont start. I was beaten up by a group of muslims for being gay: tried to file a report three times; it was refused three times, because they thought 'it would never end in a conviction, so it is a waste of time'. I was bleeding for hours. I broke my foot. They acted as if nothing had happened. The third time I DEMANDED them to file a report. They refused again, and actually threatened to arrest me for WASTING POLICE TIME. I am not allowed to protect myself. And the police is not protecting me. The police is only there to keep me from protecting myself. FUCK the police. FUCK them. The only good cop, is a DEAD cop.
Matches my experience too. When an officer comes by it's often just curiousity about what you fly and maybe also try to see if you know what you are doing. A few times a police man asked to show a few moves, like flying around and landing. A while ago I was flying with a collegue, and we let the officer have a look through my collegues goggles when I was flying. He was amazed by the image quality despite the quad being a very small one (95 size) and how silent it was. As long as you don't harass people and respect the environment, I think most will see you are just a guy having fun in a responsible way, and not a threat, as some tend to make FPV pilots appear to be.
I love when people are generally intereasted. When people come up to you , you never know if they just want to learn or if they want to have a go. I love giving people the spare goggles so they can ride along for the first time.

Great reaction from the police, so much different than other people who are calling use maniacs and dangerous. Big like from me buddy.....subbed!!! Keep on ripping my friend. Lekker bezig!!!!!!!!!!
Full ACK for your final statement! I actually stopped calling it "drone" and speaking of "race quad" - then of course people think about those motorbikes with four wheels, but you don't get those stupid comments about "spying neighbors". It's becoming more and more a problem to find good spots here in Switzerland where nobody will complain. Even farmers started shouting at me when walking on "their" gras fields :-/
I find education is key. Let them know what you are doing and what the Quad/Drone is capable of and they are mostly like the Police in the vid. I have members of the public asking me lots of times. Good example there fella.
Rouen d'Arc I still have the DWG files for the body of this frame. I used the arms of a Dquad LRX. If you can get your hands on those arms, i can share the files if you like. EDIT: Oh! I made a 4” version of this frame, i made my own 4” arms which use the same layout so they can fit this frame. I think i still have the DWG files for the 4” arms, you can edit them to make them fit 5” props...
Awesome encounter. I've never had problems with police. Usually bitchy joggers or dog walkers. But where I live is very laid back so they really can't do anything. We don't have any laws yet against freestyle drones.
My experience was very similar. Someone called the police on me. They were told that a guy with cases was walking to the park. So I told them what it al was and I gave thes Officer my goggles and ripped a pack. He was blown away. Were friends to this very day. Good job mate. Let's all educate the masses about this fulfilling hobby.
I had a couple of encounters with the police as well and the same sort reactions. If you remain within the (legal) limits... no problem. Ignorant people is a different story. Blij dat je deze video online hebt gezet. Leuk zo'n positief bericht
One of the best parts of the hobby...interacting with curious on-lookers. I guess it all depends on how much you like talking to people..but I do enjoy being able to answer people's questions with confidence and contribute to their knowledge base. Cool cops for sure...I'm finding this to be pretty common occurrence with authorities being pretty receptive and just as curious as general population is. Then again sometimes i'm just like - go buy your own toys and figure it out yourself, don't talk to me weirdo...haha...depends on how I wake up that morning I guess.
There questions were specific. In the states, and other countries as well, line of sight must be maintained and altitude kept below 400 feet. At least you answered correctly.
Aye mate may i ask where that field is? I got a new drone yesterday (yuneec Q500, made a video with it already) and your place looks nice to fly there and make some nice videos. I'm from kleve just over the border to the netherlands, maybe it's not that far
Speaking of cops and FPV I just had the craziest experience with the police ever in FPV first we get kicked from a spot by them only to get invited to let us fly around them, they turned on their lights and I got a chase in 😂 I cannot wait to post this one ☝️ great edit man!
I applaud your kind of police, so polite, so much respect! Hier in Suid Afrika 'n hele ander storie! (Here in South Africa it's a whole different story) That was really good to see! Maybe time to come home. (In a forefather/roots type of way)
Dhanes Soegondo Not at all! The only lag in the system comes from the cam, and that’s about 20 till 35 milliseconds, depending the type of cam. The video transmitter and receiver have no lag at all!
Exactly. How high does it fly? (Translation: can it bring down a passenger plane). Do you see something special when you fly over the trees? (Translation: can he spy on people)
Interesting encounter...I do believe it's ingrained in post-911 cops brains to "interrogate" anyone doing something they don't understand. I don't believe they can help it. It's just the way they are programmed. It's just their job. I didn't detect any malice...just deciding: threat or no threat. Nice kwad BTW!
i had a similar encounter about a week ago and the moment they caught i was completely informed about all the laws concerning flying with a drone, they turned into nice good ol' cops wishing me loads of fun with my 400$ machine xd Een week geleden had ik precies hetzelfde. Toen ze oppikten dat ik alles over die drone wetten afwist, waren ze meteen blij en shit.
Police are specifically trained to interrogate you at all times, regardless of what you are doing. It’s fishing, sometimes they get a nibble, sometimes they don’t.
You said you built the drone yourself. Did you just buy parts and put it together like if you build a PC or is it more complicated? An did you buy the goggles and the "steering console" as it is from a parts dealer or did you build that too or just put on the wireless transmission things? Hope you can answer me and understood my question. Really want to start with this myself
Check this website, it will help you understand! This is the website of Jushua Bardwell, also check his yt channel for lots and lots of info! www.fpvknowitall.com/ultimate-fpv-shopping-list/
I think the dutch police is one of the best trained in the world. Not escallation from the beginning like you see in a lot of places, but de-escalate, asking questions, relaxed without threat.
Really great encounter but what is greater is your flying! I want to know what kind of flight controller and programe you used for it, also i would like to see it doing its tricks from the ground!
Ill get parts to build a drone for the same price range soon. I would also like to know its size is it 250? This will be the first kit ill assemble my self
True words at the end. And I have to say. Everytime I fly with my Mavic, some people come around and ask me about that hobby few things. It is always a funny conversation and (except one situation) I always got positive feedback. And I am happy about that :)
Nice to see it working this way! I had only a security guy on a parking lot, but he was interested too and spend some time talking and looking. Let's hope, it will all end well! 👍
Exactly. The drone hype that was caused a few years back demonized all RC Pilots. We are just having fun and 99% of us do it legally (now) and responsibility.
Nice, this is how interactions with authorities should be. Educate so they do not discriminate against people that are flying FPV multirotors. There are always "bad apples" in the bunch but for the most part this is just a hobby for those of us that are serious, we are not pervs looking to spy or surveil people, it is a hobby that consists of either freestyle flying or proximity/race. Great video.
i was flying my fpv 250 and an officer came up to me, started asking questions because he was interested. i then hooked up a spare set of goggles i have to mine, and got him to put them on, and let him see what i saw.

Great reaction from the police, so much different than other people who are calling use maniacs and dangerous. Big like from me buddy.....subbed!!! Keep on ripping my friend. Lekker bezig!!!!!!!!!!
ive subbed you for your positive interaction with the police. polite and friendly, doing no harm.
Spot on!
Thats the most polite interrogation I've ever seen! The giveaway was the question about what do you see up there in the trees..... Nicely handled.
Great flying skills man. Well done by Police too. Are living in Holland? Just saw yellow registration plate and guessed ;)
MyHappyLife we have yellow plates in the uk... 😂
EXplorUX I know, I'm from UK :p
You got it right!
yes... you can spy a lot running at +50km/h with a fixed analog camera..
Hahaha indeed....
I find education is key. Let them know what you are doing and what the Quad/Drone is capable of and they are mostly like the Police in the vid. I have members of the public asking me lots of times. Good example there fella.
I love your drone setup. Any kits or insights shared? I've got a CNC itching to build something
422 people have tickets from police for flying drones.
Fantastisch man. Mooi voorbeeld...
Ash Stek Dank je wel! 👍🏼

Police "Hi, we're out fishing for information"
You "Good luck with that!"
Second Chance Haha! Indeed!
Did you see anything special: like people bummbing? What was she fishing for
Exactly... Spying with a multirotor is sooooo 2010...
10 years from now, no more Police cars, just officers flying drones watching what you're doing from above the trees!
@supernal this isn't southpark.
There questions were specific. In the states, and other countries as well, line of sight must be maintained and altitude kept below 400 feet. At least you answered correctly.
kan menig agent of boa een voorbeeld aan nemen . gewoon netjes 🤘
Aye mate may i ask where that field is? I got a new drone yesterday (yuneec Q500, made a video with it already) and your place looks nice to fly there and make some nice videos. I'm from kleve just over the border to the netherlands, maybe it's not that far
American cops probably tackled him and put him in a chokehold.
yeah because all cops are represented by the corrupt few.... get a tub of mayonnaise and bathe in it, because its an instrument and your being played.
Speaking of cops and FPV I just had the craziest experience with the police ever in FPV first we get kicked from a spot by them only to get invited to let us fly around them, they turned on their lights and I got a chase in 😂 I cannot wait to post this one ☝️ great edit man!
Hella Copter 😂 Nice! Can’t wait to see that viddy!
Lekker Thieu!!
I applaud your kind of police, so polite, so much respect! Hier in Suid Afrika 'n hele ander storie! (Here in South Africa it's a whole different story) That was really good to see! Maybe time to come home. (In a forefather/roots type of way)
Dit is nederlands
Gert-JaNL. Dankje! Nog niet gezien!
Je hebt mijn leven gered man, ik dacht bijna dat het spaans was ofzo
altijd weer die russen die alles over nemen...
Oh gelukkig, kan ik het ook verstaan.. 👍
Gert-JaNL. Ja joh?
I'm always curious if you have any lags while using that kind of goggles
Dhanes Soegondo Not at all! The only lag in the system comes from the cam, and that’s about 20 till 35 milliseconds, depending the type of cam. The video transmitter and receiver have no lag at all!
seemed like they were interrogating you to me
At that moment, it didn't felt that way, but after reviewing the footage, it does...
Nice kwad BTW!
i had a similar encounter about a week ago and the moment they caught i was completely informed about all the laws concerning flying with a drone, they turned into nice good ol' cops wishing me loads of fun with my 400$ machine xd
Een week geleden had ik precies hetzelfde. Toen ze oppikten dat ik alles over die drone wetten afwist, waren ze meteen blij en shit.
Police are specifically trained to interrogate you at all times, regardless of what you are doing. It’s fishing, sometimes they get a nibble, sometimes they don’t.
It is glad to know that some where in this world, there are good cops.
Like als je de ondertiteling niet las
You said you built the drone yourself. Did you just buy parts and put it together like if you build a PC or is it more complicated? An did you buy the goggles and the "steering console" as it is from a parts dealer or did you build that too or just put on the wireless transmission things?
Hope you can answer me and understood my question. Really want to start with this myself
Check this website, it will help you understand! This is the website of Jushua Bardwell, also check his yt channel for lots and lots of info!
www.fpvknowitall.com/ultimate-fpv-shopping-list/
Kijk zo kan het ook idd :))
how big is your li-po battery
Its nice to see the police showing respect and not assuming that he is doing something bad like the police in the USA
I think the dutch police is one of the best trained in the world. Not escallation from the beginning like you see in a lot of places, but de-escalate, asking questions, relaxed without threat.
Blijft grappig hoe goed zo'n titel werkt, 1000x meer bekeken als je andere video's
Jep... Niet echt mijn stijl... Maar wel duidelijk hoe youtube werkt...
Can you give me a link of what you’re using on your drone to get audio and video on your drone please? Thank you, great flying m8.
I'm using the discontinued Gopro Hero 5 Session.
haha, great video mate, I'm glad they were so polite, they seemed more interested than anything
I never had bad encounters with Dutch police, they were always super nice and helpful.
What drone and how much does it cost
As a Dutch drone pilot, I completely agree with you! We are just having fun!
Check videodescription... For a better setup, check the description on my newer videos...
The battery died in like one minute did you not have a full charge or is it just the size of the battery and how much the drone is using?
Crashed, bendt the props back in shape, got one last run with that pack...
True words at the end. And I have to say. Everytime I fly with my Mavic, some people come around and ask me about that hobby few things. It is always a funny conversation and (except one situation) I always got positive feedback. And I am happy about that :)
Every cop I ran across while flying ask questions how to get into the hobby
Nice encounter. Love the Dutch, they are so chill and reasonable.
How was your lipo empty after 50 seconds of flight :P
Was a takeoff after a crash with the same lipo...
These drone flying or on some next level skill. That bit at the start makes me understand the rush that they feel.
S Cottrill It is a rush indeed! Addicting!
Nice to see it working this way! I had only a security guy on a parking lot, but he was interested too and spend some time talking and looking. Let's hope, it will all end well! 👍
I'm curious about what she expected you to see in the trees that was so interesting. Love the flying skills too.
Was that drone flying inverted
How mutch is you VR Drone Setup?/ withe the Drone
A lot... But i just like high-end stuff...
Proprably nicest inconterbwithbpolice you Can have❤️
4:28 tanks??
Exactly. The drone hype that was caused a few years back demonized all RC Pilots. We are just having fun and 99% of us do it legally (now) and responsibility.
Lets hope the hype will blow over and we can fly our RC planes and copters in freedom again!
Hope I only get interventions like this in the future... Just recently ordered my first drone, needed for work, Mavic 2 Pro.
waar is dit?
You are pretty damn good with that thing. Bout the best I've seen.
i have actually super glued props back together with pretty good success.
As a last resort.... 👌🏻
What DID the officer mean when she said "can you see something special when you're in the trees?" I genuinely don't know.
Love it. Nicely done on all sides!
Was did toevallig in Noordwijkerhout?
Klopt!
Great video.
do fpv drone racers build the drone themselves?
Yes, we all do!
all of them?
by the way..... loved this video
It sounds and flies awesome, very nice!I loved the flipping and the sound it makes
