Sun zu: to defeat your enemy, you must first know your enemy and their political stance.
Dalinar’s enemies: 😐
If your enemy doesn't know themselves, you can't know them or defeat them
@@vamsiampolu8438 ah the semantic loopholes that war conforms to. Mat cauthon would love this
Issue is if enemy doesn’t know themselves they get steamrolled.
Sun Tzu*
This is the funniest comment I've seen in so long
“Sometimes a hypocrite is nothing more than a man in the process of changing.” -Dalinar, probably
Not probably, he said that XD.
"It's only hypocrisy if you think about it." - Lopen
-Dalinar changing his stance like he changes his ShardDiapers
“Okay, I’ll compromise. I still want to be a war criminal, but at least I’ll feel somewhat guilty about it this time.”
- Dalinar, probably
“I’ll feel bad about it so hard, that I’ll adopt spear-Jesus”
This was so damn clever
❤️❤️❤️
Man Dalinar's political evolution has almost as many twists as the Joshua saga
key word: almost
Wit : Ok now dalinar what is your political belief?
Dalinar : Yes
LOL
It pretty realistic, I love how he changes so much, and yet is still the same,
To be fair two points
1: Dallinars metamorphosis started happening before the dreams
2: Dalinar approves and likes your video
very true
Do we know when he started getting the dreams ? Didn't it only start after his brother died ?
the classic being a centrist by actually being an extremist in all corners
I recommend you Disco Elysium
"Today
I am 16 and I want to become political" - Dalinar who is in his 50's
"A hypocrite is just a man in the process of changing"
I'm sure he will end the series as an enlightened centrist and nothing whacky and uncharacteristically bad is going to happen to any character
Yep nothing bad will ever happen like ever the story will end and we’ll live happily ever after! …. Wait there 5 more books? Fuck!!!!!!!!!!
like all my favorite series, the characters will always be happy and no problems will occur. let's hope
Well its Sanderson amd he can kill characters in a pretty epic happy and sad way. I am looking at you Elantris amd mistborn.
His political ideology changes as much as a teenager's on the internet
One of his patrons name is "Justice for Joshua"🤣🤣
#Pray4Joshua
they are a legend
Justice for Joshua was almost delivered at the Grand Canyon, but he ended up returning
On the bright side, no one can say Dalinar belongs to their faction. He's neutral, like Wit. No one is really comfortable with him.
lol yeah he makes everyone mad
Nah, Wit is neutral always. Dalinar picks a side for a certain amount of time and then change. So overall, he may look he belongs nowhere. But a certain point of time. He belongs somewhere.
Bro I can’t, why are your skits always so funny yet on point 💀
❤️
Dalinar's conversations with the queen of Alethkar in RoW really capture his political feelings well:
Queen: "Once in a while, I do think you need to be reminded that not everyone sees the world the way you do."
Dalinar: "It would be better for us all if they did. I wish the world would stop making a mess of itself every time I turned my back."
...
(About Azish bureaucracy:) "A bad Prime is unable to single-handedly ruin their government."
Dalinar: "And a good one is unable to accomplish much."
In Dalinar's experience, decentralized government has led to infighting, incompetence, and abuse under Ehlokar. The only way to "unite them" is with a strong, absolute ruler, like himself, Gavilar, or the queen.
I've come to the think the Azish have the best government on Roshar. Which is not a high bar mind you. But they actually are a meritocracy - albeit systemic bias is still a problem. They're stable and don't fall into civil war - too much paperwork. They're open minded - no problem being gay or whatever, just fill out the right forms. And they're organized and good at logistics and infrastructure, which is really important for a good government.
Why not calling it Jasnah?
@@selenhelyos9724 To avoid revealing spoilers, I think.
@@michaelklaczynski3650 that's actually worse. I think Ruler would have been better for that effect.
that "by force if necessary" hits different

"Dalton Kholin" I can't with your names😂😂
What a rollercoaster!
You spin me right round Billy Sandman
Lmao, I came here to comment that quote and you already have it in your description
i must beat the commenters to their own game
And here we have a truly accurate interview with Dalinar Kholin.
Dalinar is the most charitable impossible reimagining of the British empire. He’ll unite all ppl on one great team.
Prime Minister Winston Dalinar
@@ManCarryingThing DONT LOOK UP DALINAR PARSHMEN FAMINE WWII!!!
This. This is so true,
Dalinar is the perfect example of a party hopper. He's the Tony Blair of Roshar 😂
*laughs in american* ah, yes. british stuff. i understand completely.
Tony Blair party hopped?
@@elliotcrossan6290 He may as well of. He got rid of the Labour part of the Labour party.
@@francescoxiv762 I absolutely agree there, Tony Blair turned Labour into effectively being a Tory-lite party. But he didn't party hop. Unfortunately, he's never been expelled from Labour for his crimes!
Another stormlight archive video !!! Didn't knew I was waiting for this !!
I haven't read a single SA book yet and only know this guy by name but damn what a rollercoaster
It is good to see so many people who, regardless of their political ideology, live well in the comments, I am fascinated by Brandon Sanderson and I am a Libertarian
Hi, Thing Carrying Man, I love your content, so I'm commenting to boost the algorithm. Have a nice day!
thank you ❤️
This is great
This video made me sound like a cursed kettle wheezing. You get pash approval
"Brown eyes are... **gags** ew. Heh."
... and I took that personally. 🤺🤺
is it just me or is this such a profound video?!?!!!
Haha I love this so much!!
Ok guys, we have won the culture battle
XD
This is brilliant! You released this at the perfect time for me, considering that over the past fe months I've finally understood what the hell these political words mean xD
the kholin glyph is lowkey one of those old school bouncing DVD logo screensavers here lmao!!
Dalinar: You know, the Leviathan ain't so wrong after all. As long as I'm the Leviathan.
All warfare is based on deception. - Dalinar's compass agrees;
I also kept thinking of: "Parkour!" the entire time
Dalinar and Light Yagami would make a killer duo ✨
Pun intended.
Stalinar Kholin
LMAO I can always count on your videos for a good laugh. Love your channel!
Thanks!
I know this video is two years old but I'd just like to point out that one of the great things about this is it actually illustrates how dumb the political compass test is very well.
Man, Dalinar really has political ADD
this is so accurate!!!! LOL! Hilarious!
The "8 values test" is a better political compass test!
What is that? Haven't heard of it.

Accurate. Life is a constant struggle with or without a mustache.
I‘m still waiting for that Minecraft LP
Wow, he moved around almost as much as I did in my political science class!

Yehh.... violence is bad 😂
The thing here is that that spectrum is very reductive. It makes sense that Dalinar fits all over the spectrum because almost no one fits neatly into any place in the spectrum without being aligned (intentionally or otherwise).
It is incredibly simplistic, agreed.
For real tho I hope Sando starts to criticise and get rid of feudalism in the later books. Too many lower class people and dark-eyes in the books seem to just ignore or even endorse it a bit too much for me.
Have you read RoW?
The system is bullshit but eh it is what it is.Unless he's planning on doing a revolution book I dont think were gonna see that.
I always thought that was more accurate, since historically people didn't seem to care much until absolutism was coined and things got really bad
(or at least in western Europe)
Now imagine if it was a cube instead of a square
Tankie Dalinar, Tankie Dalinar, Tankie Dalinar
LOOVE THIS VID! Dalinars political changes are more than mine through puberty tbh.
This isn't a compass, this is a roulette wheee.
Best video to start the day 😂
❤️
I know I've been tainted by the internet because my main thought the entire time was "no, racism is the joke of the BLUE quadrant."
Meanwhile, i am waiting for doors of stone
Yeah, sounds about right
this is quite gangster
I started laughing at the thumbnail. Who knew this would be so good.
I really should start reading harry potter. Great complex characters it seems.
Day 40 of commenting until Debraaaah takes back her estranged husband.

I just want give Dalinar a copy of Democracy the god that failed
More of this. More of this.
I watched this twice, once to listen to jack talking and the second time to keep an eye on the right side of the screen.
How do you come up with such amazing and hilarious ideas so often?

@@ManCarryingThing Ah yes. A very clear answer. I completely understand
Good vid man

In communist Roshar, crab eats you!
Dalinar 2024!
I think Brando Sando keeps projecting himself on these characters too much.
?
@@bogregz everyone knows Sanderson used to be a bloodthirsty warlord who killed his own wife in the burning of a full city, then he started regretted his actions and took the role of king to save the world from an evil god, at the same time learning how to read for the first time at 40ish years and thats how he fell in love with writing books. Come one man everyone knows this.

How does this clever video not have more views!
basically he's in the center
This video is painfully obvious about how it will go, so much that you don't need to watch it.
But please watch it, it's funny as hell :)
Damn Dalinar is changing his politics almost as quickly as an online 15-y/o
nuance: the video
Based
I'm in the middle of Shadows of Self and Mistborn Era 2 seems to be where Brandon is going heavy into overtly bringing up political/social justice themes. I'm slightly confused because all of the bad guys are making excellent points about society and justice and the "good guy" Wax is just kind of an annoying, do-gooder cop.
Yikes. Miles maybe made a good point but Wax's dad is literally part of the elite so he's not making any good points. He's just trying to take advantage of those without Allomancy and Ferrochemy.
A key thing about Sanderson, is that he just has characters speak and be who they are and then lets us decide who is right or wrong. Many of his villains have great points and that is not an accident. I don't think Sanderson feels the need to have his readers agree with him or to only effectively represent views he personally agrees with either. He shows the spectrum and that's part of what makes his work so effective.
I thought u were gonna take the test as if you were Dalinar 😢. Still this video was funny
Commented originally thinking this was sarcasm - wanted to circle back to this.
A lot of the attitudes being attributed to lib-left and lib-right (the latter especially) are actually authoritarian viewpoints. Lib-left/right are against rigid borders, for example. Just wanted to pop in and comment something substantial, as I think I misinterpreted this video the first time.
Anyway, Dadinar ftw.
I would like to watch this video but I have not yet read stormlight and do not want any spoilers.
its ok just read the whole series real quick. I'll wait
Isn’t he an authoritative left by rhythm of war? He wants a collectivist cooperation of the people of roshar without force but under a strong central body of rule and leader?
EDIT: nvm I remember his gripe about the Azish government now he is closer to being central on the x scale
I mean, his gripe about the Azish government would probably make him an authoritarian either way. 'I'll do it by force if I have to' and all that
@@kjarakravik4837 yea I don’t think Dalinar ever lost his authoritarian views I just think he balances it with believing a collective body is needed to check the ruler, who ultimately still has the most power.
can I watch this video if I haven't read Rythm of War and I am currently reading Othbringer (1. interludes)?
I'm kind of offended. Maybe. I... I don't know
But what I know is that I must unite.
And also hes clapping navanis cheeks appearreantly
