I see the 611 being restored to working condition again, but sadly the 1218 might never be back in working condition, unless they feel that it would be worth the time and effort to find or build new parts for all the interior of the boiler that is missing!!! =/ I would love to see both N&W engines restored, but for now I think if we get the 611 back we should be thankful lol
If anyone is a big steam fan of locomotives? Which steam locomotive is better either Frisco 1522 or Norfolk and Western 1218? To be honest, I really love both engines and it's really hard to pick between both of them.
Yes, we have a lot. All of them are just for excursions though. You can see one of them on my TH-cam titled " A steam powered scenic train on Oigawa Ry." Enjoy it ! 再生回数 114 回
If Norfolk and Western Class A 1218 does return to steam, it should have 2 changes; 1. the engine should be changed from using coal to oil just like Union Pacific Challenger 3985, and 2, have her N&W Single Chime Hooter whistle replaced with an Illinois Central 3-Chime Hancock whistle, just like 3985.
Norfolk and Western stuck with steam longer than any other mainline railroad because it’s main source of revenue was coal. It wouldn’t make much sense to convert it to oil, especially since it would most likely operate in the eastern states where railside brush fires are less likely to occur. 3985 will probably be back in a decade so you’ll hear that whistle again. Let the 1218 keep its charm instead of trying to mimic another locomotive.
@@curtislynch8189 the Railroading Heritage of Midwest America confirms that Union Pacific Challenger 3985’s restoration will take about 3 years to complete, although if you donate money on their matching grant, the quicker and easier it will be to restore the 3985.
Delighted Thanks 🎉❤🎉❤🎉❤🎉❤🎉
Gorgeous machine, love the whistle. Best shot for me? 3:18.
Thanks Naoki!
You captured some moments never to be seen again from this magnificant machine.
What a coincidence! On that day, 1218 was also great musician. I can still recall echoic voice of 1218 and rhythmic drams of long long coaches.
Nice
I have at least about 3 DVDs on her and about 700 VHS's with clips of her in it. She is a beautful locomotive and has the BEST WHISTLE EVER!!!
懐かしい!また見たいなぁ
Cool, wish they would bring this locomotive back to life, like they did with N&W 611
@BTCRAIL101FILMS I love her whistle too. Especially, the echo in the mountain or along the gorge sounds like music.
