I love "The hidden life of trees" by Peter Wohlleben and "Entangled Life" by Merlin Sheldrake, if you have not read them/listened to them yet. Highly interesting, especially if you like trees and fungi, but even if you don't. 🙂

The most useful piece of gardening-advice I´ve ever been given is to water the hole before you put the plant in, rather than watering the plant and soil from above once you´ve planted it. This way the roots are encouraged to reach down into the ground for water rather than up towards the surface. Lots of love from Germany! xx

This planting method you mentioned has worked every time for me with tomatoes, I've been growing them from seed every year for over 10 years - so works well.

Yes! Great advice. We waited 2 years to plant our berries and 4 years before putting in fruit trees. In the meantime we discovered wild strawberries and elderberry shrubs hiding in areas we opened up by removing dead trees. I love your videos and always look forward to getting updates on how you and Christine are making your cabin cozy. Thank you for inspiring us.

There is so much joy to find in a simple life 💚 Everyone should at least try it, to get rid of the anxiety of today's world!
We also try to live close to nature, in the countryside. Lately we've been harvesting a lot of strawberries in our natural garden. We've been planting trees and bushes everywhere and recently there have been all the elderflowers everywhere - the smell is amazing 😊 Our currants (black and red) are slowly getting ready too, so good to see them in your video (they are almost unknown in North America)😁

If you have a freezer, put the elder flower lemonade in there in a container (not a flask), then you can enjoy it all winter. When you want some, just dig a couple of spoons out and put in water, the lemonade will not really freeze fully (due to the sugar)... :)

I worked for a waste water plant for a few years. I would prep drying beds to pour sludge into for drying. They would grow watermelons, tomatoes, strawberries, etc.
Some of the best fruits I've ever eaten honestly. Used the sludge also for home gardening💯

If you know some farmers or neighbours in your area who keep horses or cows, ask them and maybe you can have some manure for free or very cheap, at least that is how we get ourselves the manure here in Transylvania. Most of the farmers will be happy to get rid of it.

I have a few fruit trees, herbs and vege patch in my garden and am looking forward to making room for some blueberries in the future. Good luck & happy gardening.

Very pretty garden!! Perhaps the plum tree is having a hard time because there are so many big trees and bushes all around that it has to compete for soil space? and root space? Perhaps moving it to a place with less other plants would be helpful.

How refreshing to see red and black currant (how about the yellow one?) bushes ... In Poland where I am from we have them all over and they are so yummy but in Portugal (where I live) you never ever see it ... well sometimes in a premium supermarket in a little plastic box and costing €€€€ Your cabin and the surroundings are amazing.

Oh gosh Kalle, I laughed so hard at the bloopers, and was very worried for your toes when you were using the scythe. I watched the movie you recommended where the scythe idea came from... that was incredible, beautiful, often hard to watch and made me think. From my experience, fruit trees and bushes do not like competition from grass, you can try keeping a bit of the perimeter around the trunks free of grass.

Wow. Especially the beginning reminded me of the other term "slow living". Waiting one or two years before deciding where the trees should live is so clever. And then the process of deciding where exactly to put them...
Thank you for sharing this, I really enjoyed watching and relaxing. And in one of your or Christine's videos I saw a clip where one of you lit the wood in the oven and thought that this looks so simple when you're doing it and wondering if you are so skilled already that you don't need a second match almost ever... well I got the answer now :D
Wonderful to put bloopers in. Not only for the entainment factor but also for adding a bit of reality again :)
I hope you know your videos mean so much to so many people. Thousands are getting inspired and maybe even make small or big steps towards a more free, natural and joyful life.
Thank you so much for sharing your journey with such love and care. It's amazing how well you put everything together... one could almost forget how much work you are having living like this when it looks like a fairytale and is so well told by you.
I don't comment that often but be sure that I enjoy every video you make.
    Namasté.

As always, an amazing and inspiring video! 🌲❤️This is our first summer living in the forest with a big garden, and our first time trying to keep plants other than orchids alive, so we settled for just a few plant types this first summer (tomatoes, cucumber, radishes, carrots and potatoes), and it hadn’t even crossed my mind that we could actually have gotten some more fruit trees as well, that will be something for next year! 😍
