    This series sounds great. 🌟
Old joke: Motobu wasn't just Choki - he was Throwi, Kicki and Punchi too.
    Sorry.
    Again.

I am very happy too you are going to do this series on Choki Motobu methods. Your enthusiasm is infectious Sensei Ian, and as I don’t have access to a dojo anymore and practice on my own, due to health issues. I really look forward to learning the kata you made so I can practice these methods on my own. Thank you for your openness to share your many years of practical Karate training with your TH-cam followers. I can’t wait for Part 1!

I just started to read Motobu's book, so this couldn't have come at a better time!

Always enjoy listening to you. The universality of concepts makes cross training a valid practice. Lately, the meaning of the word "style" has been more clear to me....Style = a repository of universal biomechanical principles found everywhere, and that differ in context and application. Call it Motubu methods...call it kali, call it whatever...strip the names, and you have solid principles. Hope you're well brother.

Look forward to watching Iain, I practised karate from around 11 years old, got to black belt in wado ryu and shotokan. I also boxed and had been a judo practitioner from the age of four and used to take people by surprise when we got into any sort of clinch. I could never see the point of kata other than to get grades but got my eyes opened to many of the actual applications when I started kempo ju-jitsu where I could see the locks and throws. I’m pretty old now probably suffering the wear of lifelong clashes especially with the floor so really just practice a bit on my own now occasionally do a bit of grappling with my son who’s right into MMA. People saying we have that in this art etc to quote, certainly my first martial arts hero Bruce Lee we only have four limbs so there is a limit on how we can use them, or something like that.

      Parallel lives.
I started in Shotokan aged 11. Also did a bit of boxing. Switched to kempo Jujitsu and reached 4th Dan.
I still workout everyday but now mainly for fitness.

Awesome video, definitely prefer drills and sparring with a partner over solo forms any day, can't wait for part 1

very good narrator, very good explanations given , I don't believe everything he says but he's very rarely wrong in what he does, looking fwd to the rest about a subject very few can demonstrate properly.👍

I'm looking forward to this. I'm a Kung fu/Pencak-Silat guy but I have a background in Karate. To be honest, I never liked the structure of modern Karate, so maybe I'll find a way to "my Karate" via this :)

You are right! Old School are what is missing in our modern training! Two person sets, gives you options! Free sparring 😳you’re constantly correcting mistakes 😬

Japanese were dealing with guns and gunships since the 1500s. Why do McDojos always get that wrong?
