Ginbey as a junior played off back flank and was an excellent junior. They tried putting him in the midfield as was like a cat chasing shadows, not where he should play. End of the year he was played in his familiar position and was way better. Give the kid a chance, hes a beast.

None of the fans complaining are experts on the draftees or probably negotiations. They can have their uninformed opinions but it doesn't make them right. The Eagles are taking a huge risk hoping the Blues slide so their future picks have any value, the same is shaping up for the Hawks Barras trade. They should of just took 14 for Barras , used it to get Baker and would still have pick 3 , which they could of tried to split for a top 10 + early teen pick if they think there is depth this draft season.

Eagles don't have enough talented kids at all. But they do definitely need accountable midfielders that set a good example for everyone. Baker and Graham. Baker is not a mid, he's a half-back/forward flanker.
@@plantbased4430 Our pressure forwards are hopeless. the only guy who actually tackles is Jack Darling. We saw the impact when he wasn't playing in that Saints game last year. Remember no tackles in the forward 50. Graham and Baker can play through middle and half forward. Run through the middle in particular for centre clearances where we are the worse in the league.
@@BDub2024 Cripps played half-forward all season and had more tackles in season than Darling, Owies or Baker. I am sure these additions will improve the team in 2025 season, the question is at what cost long term. WC need more than Graham to cover the holes in their midfield. With only three picks (12, 27 and 73 approx) in 2024 draft, they're relying on a large element of luck for this to come right. I think this is short-term thinking, especially given this is the second last draft before Tassie draft concessions.
@@plantbased4430 Darling was considered elite in pressure. Cripps is more of a running half forward, in which we hope Long will develop into. In the end it was only costing pick 3. One players isn't going to make a difference, its more if its happening every year and remember this is even. I know your point. But I think people really underestimate the abyss we are about to fall into within next 18 months.

Pick three gives the opportunity to pick one of the top mids in the draft, which is a need. Those players are not going to be available at 12. That's the opportunity cost committing to and paying overs for Baker.
The abyss coming up is McGovern and Yeo retiring with no replacement. And that happening right around the time Tassie come into the comp. Fucking up the next two drafts and it's going to be quite a few additional seasons of pain.

The reality is that WC are rebuilding but have chosen to sacrifice pick 3 to top up with uncontracted 27-year-olds.

Look at the way Richmond have assembled a fistful of picks. Why aren't WC doing something similar?
Wc needs mid aged players we have old and young. A couple of premiership players with 3-6 years left isn't bad. Especially when they will most likely still pick up the kid they want in the draft.
