I used to come here lot to hang out with friends! I really miss this place and before the pandemic, it was so active during weekends and festivals. Good to see that life is starting to comeback to this little neighborhood 😌
When you’re in Japantown San Francisco don’t blink, because you will miss it. It’s very small and no longer has that vibe. A lot of Japanese businesses have closed. San Francisco doesn’t do enough to preserve certain cultures.
It's not the city's fault. In all the times I've been there (pre/post pandemic), aside from store owners and workers, there aren't a lot of Japanese people. It's not like Chinatown that's brimming with Chinese. The population just isn't there.
@@RH-mk3rp Of course it's the City's fault, supervisors, planning and development department allow developers to come in and take down historical buildings which destroys the culture and character. The same thing is happening in Chinatown. Most of the new development in Chinatown is not by/for the Chinese. In fact, most of the new residents moving into Chinatown are not Chinese. City officials wasted too much time and money on those BS startups, most of which are now gone.
@@RH-mk3rp I was unfortunately homeless early on last year in 2022 but I walked all over downtown Sf. Different from LA I was temporarily housed at a hotel.
@@RH-mk3rp I like San Diego and LA in Los Angeles it has its good and bad. But Beverly Hills is ok I was there and I saw a lot. Evolution of Hollywood
I know there's a Japantown in San Francisco and I have been there as a baby I think and I have seen movies and TV shows set in San Francisco but didn't see Japantown in any of those movies and TV shows set in San Francisco and I wonder why.
I am a Japanese. This town is not true Japanese town. I heard Korean people made this Fake-Japan town. That tall tower is Korean style. It is a sample of "Cultural appropriation".
