  • In this video I am out in the field with an Illinois farm as they kick off their 2021 Corn & Soybean Harvest with their new Fendt Ideal Combines. First up in the video is their Fendt Ideal 8T combine with a MacDon FD145 Flex Draper head harvesting soybeans then later on in the video you will see their Fendt Ideal 9T combine with a 16 row Drago GT corn head. Also in the video is a Fendt 1038 tractor pulling a J&M X1112 grain cart and a Versatile Delta Track 610 tractor pulling another J&M X1112 grain cart.

    The only farms that don't get cab corn or beans are the keyboard farmers! We constantly have cab corn especially my father he will push the limits. I'll stop to unload with my combine twice to his one. I personally don't like spilling any grain but I like giving the old man crap on the radio when he does!!! We run 2 gleaner s98s with 40 foot macdon heads and 12 row gerinhof corn heads . I sprayed our wheat 2 weeks ago with 28 % nitrogen when it was warm. We keep going from 40 degrees to snow all winter here in southern Michigan. Great video keep up the good work!

    Hi Mike! Quick story here, where i live, there's always heavy equipment running (cat d8s, dump trucks, graders) probably when i was about 8-11, when i would hear the sound of a machine running or at work, i would always hop on my bike and follow the sound of the machine and i would just be at total peace while watching. Just something about equipment that i love, but the squeak of a Cat dozer track is a sound that is very special to me. Everytime I heard it i didn't have to wonder what it was. Now im 16 and if i were to come to the US, i would be doing this and heavy equipment full time!

    • @farmhandmike
      @farmhandmike  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If they wanted to bale the corn stalks/fodder for bedding they still could. Most of the farms that don't raise livestock just let the residue stay on the field and most will work it under after harvest.

      Corn in the midwest is generally around 60 pounds a bushel. Test weight can very though and the moisture of the corn at harvest makes a difference.

    Have you seen any of Mike Mitchell’s videos from southern Saskatchewan? I think they have sox of the X9’s and over the last two years, one has burned up and they have continuous plugging problems. Not sure if it’s because they are running a 50 or 55’ Honeybee head or what it is but I’m pretty sure they won’t say it but are not happy the salesman sold them on them. He also has a couple of Fendt tractors that are USELESS in Canadian winters with the DEF systems.

    • @farmhandmike
      @farmhandmike  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      All I can say is this farm watches Mike Mitchell on TH-cam and his opinion did not stop them from buying the Ideal combines. They really like the machines. I know it doesn't get as cold here as western Canada but DEF in extreme cold can be an issue for everyone. I personally don't know Mike Mitchell and have only watched a few of his videos but judging by all the advice I get on my videos how I do things wrong you can't take everything serious on here.

    • @allannantes8583
      @allannantes8583 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think you meant to say the Mitchell’s had six Ideal 9’s, the X9 is a John Deere. They definitely abused their combines. Mike is hard on machinery, I have watched all his videos and I’m an old farmer’s son and I can tell you I would never let him operate any of my equipment. He pushes everything beyond its limit and thinks it is funny.

    • @allannantes8583
      @allannantes8583 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Fendt Ideal combines are a beautiful machine. Like any fine piece of machinery they have to be treated with respect. Most of the Mitchell’s problems were caused by pilot error.
