First Webinar on Project 2025 & Our System of Regulatory Safeguards

The Center for Progressive Reform (@CenterForProgressiveReform) and the Coalition for Sensible Safeguards (@SensibleSafeguards) host a series of webinars about the impacts of Project 2025 on our nation’s regulatory safeguards. Project 2025 is set to undermine our constitutional checks and balances, threatening individual rights and freedoms. However, an often untold part of this story is how it continues the decades-long conservative campaign to weaken the federal regulatory system-a critical pillar of our democracy and a healthy, inclusive economy.
Our first webinar focuses on Project 2025's push for the "deconstruction" of the regulatory system, from shrinking agency budgets to privatizing critical agency functions. The second webinar dives into how Project 2025 plans to "weaponize" the regulatory system, promoting authoritarian goals and increasing political control over independent agencies.
In our second webinar on the topic, we focus on the provisions in Project 2025 that are aimed at “weaponizing” the regulatory system to advance goals of promoting an authoritarian presidency and reconstructing our society in line with a nationalist vision. These aspects of Project 2025 are unique in that they seek to “strengthen” the powers of the regulatory system by undermining the independence of agencies, increasing political control of decision-making, and abusing agency enforcement authority.
