Hi, Andy. I use Simgot Supermix 4 and used single ended 3.5mm. Who is more better Shanling UA4 dan DEW4X ? I need Dac with neutral/natural (NOT Warm), character, clear, bright, soundstage open/spacious, efficient battery phone. Or you have any reccomendation with the price around DEW4X and UA4. This time, I use DAC Tanchjim Space Lite and I love this DAC. Thx
If you ask me which one I prefer, then you are asking which one I use with my own equipment and what I like the most personally, and in this case the DEW4X is what I prefer because it is more suited with the natively brighter Hidizs MP145 and Final Audio A5000, of which if I use them with UA4, they tend to exhibit a bit more energy. So, it depends a lot on what you are driving and what sort of sound presentation you prefer, do you like it neutral and relaxed? DEW4X is the one to go for, if you like it a bit more energetic and bold, UA4 is the one to use
this dac is good but I am wating for Andy style review of Fiio ka17 & a comparison Bitwin Fiio ka17 and Fiio k11 as both of them in same price category ..❤❤
Andy, could you clarify - the Fiio KA5 in your "Timbre signature" table from this video is right in the middle, but in the earlier tables it is at the same level as the iBasso DC03 Pro. So which table is correct for the Fiio KA5?
Thanks for pointing this out, the latest one is the correct placing after recalibrating the chart for 2024. KA4 is more analog sounding than DC03Pro, I am certain of that now
Hello Andy! I bought the Reiyin MCA3, I don't know if you can review it in the future, they are very economical. I wanted to ask you after a while of using dongles, the phone's USB input is not loose, it doesn't have a firm grip and it disconnects by itself.
No I haven't tried MCA3 and not sure if I will review it either. You can try using another USB C cable and see if it will fix the loose issue, otherwise it could be just production issue
Últimamente estan saliendo Dongles económicos por menos de 150$ con el DAC tope de gama cirrus logic,y todo indica que van a seguir como el nuevo Auful snowy night.
@@donglemadness agree on that part. Now that my dongle collection is piling up it’s a bit difficult with just one pair of ears. But after XMOS update, this versatile dongle/dap is really something out of the ordinary. You really really got to try this.
Hi Andy, always stoked for your dongle reviews. 😍 Is there any one of your 5 star recommendations that takes in microphone inputs? Looking for a great dongle that also allows me to make work calls since my IEM cable has a microphone on it.
You have two options. Soundblaster play 4 and Abigail Pro. SB play 4 should be a 5 star dongle in my opinion for its SQ, features, price, value. I have already used DC03 Pro, DC04 Pro, BTR15, Hidizs S9 Pro, Abigail pro, Abigail, Avani etc
Unfortunately, NONE of the bigger sized dongles support MIC. You do have an option for something like SoundBlaster series but they are not 5 Stars rated. MIC support is something more easily found in ultra compact dongles like JCally JM06 Pro, JM7 etc or Abigail/Avani
Hi Andy, love your channel, really helps me out with my DAC purchases. I have a question, what do you think is the best CS (43131 or 43198) based dongle is? Is it the Yuki?
Thanks. Yes for now as you can clearly see in the comparison section of this video, Yuki scores higher overall points than all other 43198, and if you watch my review on Yuki, you will understand what makes Yuki stand out from the rest
@@donglemadness Thanks, I just watched the review and makes me want to get a Yuki. Anyway between the Yuki and questyle m15 which one is your personal preference? Trying to decide between the two.
Would you be able to try the Astell & Kern HC4? It's cheaper than the RU7 and FC6 and while not much talk about, it does seek promising. So impressions and reviews have compared it to the Questyle M15 and it seems the HC4 is more musical, detailed and soundstages better yet being smoother overall. Some others have also commented that they prefer the HC4 over the Cayin RU7 and FC6.
Thanks. For EA500LM, my personal favourite is either EPZ TP50 or HIBY FC6. UA4 will offer strong technical element to EA500LM but I feel that it also loses a bit on analog timbre, DC04Pro on the other hand will offer wider soundstage and airy decays, more analog timbre. DEW4X on the other hand offers a bit of richer sound texture and imaging, but not as open sounding as DC04Pro. All in all, those dongles are great in their own ways
Andy Some recommended me this DAC. I am thinking about Shanling UA4. What is your opinion? Which from them better suits to the Beyerdynamic DT 900 pro x headphones?
Andy has his likes and preferences which is fine but in my experience I have tried Ibasso DC03 pro, DC04 pro, BTR15, Avani, Abigail, Abigail pro, Odyssey HD, Fosi Audio DS1, Hidizs S9 Pro, CX pro, Fiio K5 Pro ESS, Xduoo XA-10, Jcally JM60, Creative SB Play 4. Among all these, I liked two dongles' sound the most. Fosi Audio DS1 and Ibasso DC03 Pro. BTR15 being the least musical and the most boring of all
Pareciera que son muy similares en rendimiento pero,¿En suavidad cual se nota mas space o dew 4x?y cual tiene realismo instrumental? Y profundidad hacia delante?perdon si son demasiadas preguntas 😑
Better is not the word I would use here, as both scores pretty much similarly on sound alone. However KA13 will start to sound better with dynamic authority when you use 300 Ohm Sennheiser HD600 or 91dB Magnetic Planar of Fostex T40RP MK3 in Desktop mode, because KA13 main appeal is outright power. For anything up to 32 Ohm, both are equally great
sir I have an tempotec e44 when I use a 4.4 cable, the volume on one side is too big but if I use a 3.5 se the sound is normal Is this a problem with my 4.4 cable or the dongle?
Thanks for highlighting this, it was not showing the correct rating for PEE51 on that column, the one shown in my KA5 review is the correct one, I think there was an error of pasted data over PEE51 on this one
Heads up for everyone! the MP145 is not good anymore. Hidizs changed the internals in the newer batches and the and lost everything that made the original sound good. I would not buy it or recommend it to anyone and reviewers shouldn't compare their old sets in comparisons as it is not what the new buyers will experience .
So, you have both new and old MP145 to verify this? A bit of details what changed would be good because your claim is huge, people need to understand exactly what changed internally, and how does that impact the sound it produces, what makes it worse than the MP145 many have grown to love?
@@donglemadness Not sure what's happening to my comments, they seem to disappear. Last try now. Watch the video shortbus upload this week about the MP145. I bought a pair but they did not sound great to me and to me didn't sound like the graph. Wasn't sure if I got the new batch but they sounded thin and a bit tinny to me and didn't match what the reviews said so I returned them last week after just 1 day of use after burn in. After watching the shortbus video I am almost sure I had a new one and I would hold off on recommending it until the company officially fixes this change.
It depends on your budget, I cannot decide on how you spend your money, I can only describe the values the dongles deliver so that my audiences can make decisions based on what matters to them. Having said that, for under $100, DEW4X is one of my recommendation, if you can spend more than $100 then of course DC04Pro is one of them, there's so many great dongles now
Curent now I using moondrop dawn pro pair with moondrop kato, do you think next I should buy dew4x or Kiwi Ears Allegro? Or should I just keep the current combo and not change anything cause the sound doesn't change much?
DAWN Pro is already great and on equal footing to DEW34X and Allegro technically, so you are not missing anything. But if you want to flavor things a bit, DEW4x offers some coloration in the sound frequency and Allegro is a bit more analog sounding - where DAWN Pro is more neutral
Hey Andy, thanks for the review. Your reviews are interesting and knowledgeable 😊
