Hi Carrie , Thank you for your amazing tutorial. May I ask in the rolling style, can you start with the Thumb first then follow by the index finger? So the sequence is T I M R Pinky . Where T=Thumb, I =index or first finger , M=middle (2nd finger) ,R = ring finger (3rd finger) and last the pinky(little finger).Thank you in advance.

Hi, thank you for asking. You will have to start from index finger, so the sequence is I M R P T. The last one is thumb. Hope this helps.

Some of the videos I watched in Chinese also teach P R M I T as another form to learn for the roll. I personally find it a bit easier to lead with the index, but the alternative has a slightly different sound (though I am not good enough to get either sounding nice at all).

Hello, Aunt Carrie i want to ask you something. I had to try perform rolling but after some repeating my finger rolling is started from my little finger then ends on my thumb why do this can happen?

Hi Soo Jin, the rolling should start from index finger and ends on thumb. In Pipa, index finger is number 1, middle finger is number 2, ring finger is number 3 and little finger is number 4. So when you practice, count in your mind 1234 thumb, 1234 thumb. It will help you play in correct order.
