I don't remember what year my wife's Miata was, but the battery was in the trunk. I had to beat apart the alternator with a cold chisel and a three pound no-bounce. And this was sixty miles from home and took three days. The alternator worked fine cold, but once running for 30 minutes it stopped charging. Anyway, I had to break it into little pieces to get it out. We lived in MD with a lot of road salt and all the aluminium looked like it was 70 years old rotting in the Atlantic Ocean. It looked exactly like Mercedes Benz aluminium that was 20 years old.
Thank you for this I thought it was going to be way hard to get to it.

Dang that had to suck, luckily we don't have salt on our roads here in Hawaii 😅
Great video.
What Alternator have you bought? Have some issue with my NC 2010, want to change it as well
I got it from oreilly's, seems to be good
