    Great video! Was able to replace the alternator in my 2008 Mazda 3 in about one hour.
    One note, my alt bolts were all 12mm and the harness nut 13mm.

    Thanks to your video, today I removed the alternator on my 2006 Mazda 3, took it to have it rebuilt, it only took them 2 hrs and 65 bucks, picked it up and reinstall it back into my car in 15 mins.

    FIRST, THANK YOU for the video. HELPED ALOT! now..Btw, for those of us from the upper midwest in the salty and snow states. the splash guard part at :55, you MAY discover the bolts are RUSTED into the sockets. And like me, you would most likely break 3 of the bolt heads as you twist. My condolences. And like me you may have to try to soak the bolts in your favorite rust breaker, I used PB Blaster, after 3 DAYS of soaking (this turned a 1 min section of the episode of the project into a 3 day event for me) you will then attempt to twist the bolts. You may encounter a free spinning bolt that won't unravel. It will just spin in that socket. Then, you may have to either cut the heads out. OR like me, use your small hand held Dremel and cut around the plastic of those bolt heads. (You'll have to figure out on your own how to hold up the splash guard afterwards. But my recommendation is to drill small holes and thread metal wire to hold them in place later. Or something similar. Best of luck) - yeah. Living in the salty and snowy upper midwest kills those 'simple' bolts on this DIY. sigh.... But back on track. So I decided to cut out only the bolts under the passenger side. Leave the Middle bolt alone if you can't remove it due to rust. Why? so i can atleast have some leeway and keep bolts on the driver side and middle area. I'd rather not lose any more bolt heads. After cutting them out from the passenger side. I then used 2 bungee cords and forcibly pulled the splash guard as far away from my working area as i can. Hopefully this suggestions help some of you fellow upper midwesters... (if in the future you REALLY need to get to the driver side...be mentally prepared to remove ALL the bolt heads or something drastic) Maybe if I could afford a impact driver that 'may' be allow me to remove the bolts with out loss. Not sure, but I can dream. :(

      Really good point. That's the first thing that came to my mind when I saw it needed the bottom plate removed. Last time I tried flushing the cooling liquid out, I had so much trouble removing the bolts so I'm not sure about wanting to do that repair by myself.

    You made this DIY look easy. So I'm looking into purchasing a 2006 Mazda 3 and the owner said the only thing wrong with the car is it needs a new alternator and wheel alignment. And the owner is asking for 3,000.00. First do you think this is a good price for this type of car. Secondly what size wrenches were you using in this video?

    • @onenikkione
      @onenikkione ปีที่แล้ว

      I know this is an older question, but my response may help someone that reads it. I wouldn't trust what a seller would say about the car they are trying to sell. Are the tires showing uneven wear? Do they have receipts for regular maintenance? Can the car be driven? Are they willing to let you take it to a mechanic for an inspection?
