Very gutsy Robin, first time is the worst as we have so fears, you showed great courage in this. The locationwas awesome! I am an amateur plein air painter too and appreciate your struggles. Some more dialogue on your thoughts and colours would be good mate. Cheers from Oz
Nice little painting. I use a french easel indoors but being old and knackered I think it would be a bit heavy for me to carry now. I have bought a little pochade box which holds 12x10 inch panels and I can screw it onto a telescopic camera rest or sit down and use it on my lap. All I need now is the courage to actually get out and do it.
Great video for me to see. Just planning a similar trip for this weekend. Drawn loads, never painted. It could be messy!! I’m just going to get stuck in and keep it simple. That self conscious feeling is what I feel most nervous about.
i do what some do and rarely clean my brushes, using some for light colors and some dark, wipe clean w paper towel and tip in safflour oil with a few drops of CLOVE OIL...i've heard students taught covering the brush with saliva...
Thank you. Finding it really challenging TBH. Oils are different to acrylics that I have tried before. Kit is heavy but I do like the easel. Thanks for your comment.
Great that you have joined a group. That will definitely help improve your skills. I wouldn't worry about not going it alone. I am sure at some point you will find the perfect spot for a solo paint. Might even be just outside your front door. 😁🎨
Hi Folks, Do you paint en plain air already or are you just thinking about it?

hello! where did you get your plein air easel bag from?
Hi it came with the easel purchased through Cass Arts
I've seen them where the legs extend like a tripod, open latch and slide out and lock, which is SO much easier than these NUTS & BOLTS!
Now that would be better x thank you for supporting me
Hi Mr Lewis it’s jasmine
