It's kind of depressing watching Maru vs Serral this year. Waiting for Maru to adapt and adjust but his current style gets so dominated by Serral it's just sad.
Despite having many ghosts (eg 19:51), Ryung still lost more resources than Serral since the mass ghosts. I wonder why is it hard for zerg whiners to admit that it's Clem that's OP, not ghosts. Serral was able to use one or two infestors coupled with broodlords to easily deal with mass ghosts, rather than for the broodlords be sniped by ghosts. Ryung had even more ghosts in game 2 (50:09), still not an issue for Serral. It's not that there's no good way to deal with ghosts/WMs, it's that there's no good way to deal with Clem's ghosts/WMs.
Ryung has a very different playstyle compared to Clem. Yes, in those games he had a lot of Ghost, but they were not well supported. Clem is Better strategically and positionally. First of all he spams widow mines everyewhere (something that other terrans should do), in mineral lines, attack, defence those allows you to take advantage even if the battles are terrible for terrans, no matter how good the zerg is. Second, in the lategame Clem goes heavy with ranged libs, Ghost,Thors and mines/tanks, toghether. This composition is basically uncounterable for zerg, because don't allow them to take efficient trades, and force them to focus in one area with the whole army, while small squads destroys hatcheries and other structures. I don't understand why Korean terrans don't use this playstyle, they focus too much on thise hypertechnical micro intensive multitask or turtling, while Clem showed to them that simplicity is the key for this matchup.
@@vinterhensomhet Nobody was able to get nearly as much value out of WMs as Clem, but he got WM nerfed anyhow. So was the case for ghosts, thus all this whining about ghosts after EWC. I'm just pointing out that it's hard to get to the "OP" state of ghosts for almost everyone else. What you said is "easy" to do in a vacuum, but when you're fighting a top SC2 player and tend to individuals WMs, microing 3 armies while macroing, you can't so easily get the "support" or even the army composition you want. Much eaiser said than done.
@@yunfanfan9452 You have to consider that nobody use widow mines and libs as heavy as him, usually Clem attacks with 5 or 4 widowmines and kite back, and he spams them all over the map, nagating multitasking or counterattacks, because if the zergs missclick a little, half of their armies evaporate. It's extremely hard to take good fights against that comp, you have to pay attention in every place or you die. In terms of multitasking Clem is not this impressive, he loses workers/armies/units everyhwere, but with widowmines he can compensate even without micro. He is crazy good in positional plays. While other guys like Maru, Cure, Byun focus too much on super technical, hyper micro intensive armies with Hellbats, Ghost, MMM (extremely hard to control), he plays with ranged libs, ghosts and mines (wich is easier to control), dening any good fight for the zergs, no matter if you are a God like Serral. Ghost alone are not this OP, but in synergy with libs and mines are uncounterable for zergs.
@@vinterhensomhet Ah, a hidden whiner who doesn't really understand the game and mechanics required in choosing strategy. I don't want to waste more time arguing with a true whiner (not one that really discuss strategies), just one question: Do you think you understand the game better than Maru, Byun etc? You think they don't want to do what Clem did, if it's simply a choice of strategy (of using WMs and libs, ghosts)? LOL you think too highly of yourself really. I think you can't be higher than gold level, I don't know what made you feel that you're qualified to judge pro-level balance.
Serral's performance is proving those blaming his EWC loss on military service wrong. For many zerg players, it's just hard to admit that there could be a terran player that beats Serral so badly (for once, after years of Serral terrorizing everyone in SC2), so it's either Serral not in a good form or worse, terran OP. LOL, pathetic.
That's not a conclusion you can draw. Serral remains incredibly impressive, no doubt, but some aspects of his mechanics and micro don't look quite as good as they did before (eg, his splits against mine shots). Those issues looked even worse at the EWC than here, and the shortcomings are particularly debilitating against a player like Clem. I'm still watching through the live streams and haven't seen the finals yet, but Serral made several uncharacteristic errors in his first few matches, even though he won, and there were quite a few eyebrow-raising moments when Clem 3-0'd him. However, it's also complete nonsense to assert that Serral would've won the EWC if he hadn't been in the military or sick the day before. While he definitely would've performed _better,_ it still might not have been enough to win. After all, Clem has made Serral look washed several times in the past, _before_ his military service. (In fact, I think one was at a prior WTL, where he all-killed Basilisk.)
@@irrelevantfish1978 I agree with you in the sense that "proving" could be too strong a word, while "suggesting" would be better. I also felt that when Clem 3-0ed Serral, it looked a bit weird, Serral certainly made more than his usual share of mistakes. But the 5-0 was solid , Serral just couldn't deal with this version of max-level Clem. Reynor's style and skill are a better match against Clem, and he happens to be the only person taking maps off Clem since EWC. Clem is at this moment on a 49-0 map score streak since start of EWC against everyone else, but only 6-5 vs Reynor.

This is a repost because the first 40 minutes was missing last time... 😅
I had wondered what happened with those missing minutes :P
I was wondering why when I came back to watch more it was gone…
i was waiting for this
i wondered where this video went. I was looking for this 2 nights ago after i first watched this 😄
The shine on the Serral vs Maru tag has really diminished over the last few years…
Single handed owns the entire ViT team …
The widow mine magic does not work on Serral. Late game ghost-liberator is your best chance to beat Serral. Revisit how Clem did it.

This is Serral still showing he is the Korean boogeyman.
Wow that player ran circles around the other player. No spoilers :D
