An alternate option I've seen is the hay mats for rabbits. There's flat woven and grass snuffle mats. I was thinking of buying one for my budgies but now I'm definitely going to try it out. Happy holidays☃️🦜

I love seeing how well they took to the snuffle mat! I bought one like this for my sister’s dog and thought my birds might like one too. I’m going to hit up that Etsy shop for sure now! Thanks for another informative video! Keep ‘em coming please 😊!

Thank you very much for very useful video. Bird as a pet is still very new in my country. So there is not much training video or knowledge about bird. People use to have bird in the case only. Now people get to know that bird can be trained and very similar to cat and dog.
I am from Thailand. Thank again for all the tricks. I really appreciate>

My rescued lovebirds are still getting accustomed to being able to forage. They were cage bound for most of thier lifes. But I've introduced a garden to thier aviary, I put thier food bowl in the middle then scatter sprouting seeds for them to forage. I till and aerate it regularly to keep anything left over from molding

Awesome video! It seems like a lot of fun. Love that you went through pross and cons. Unfortonately it is not suitable for my little lovebirds, we are dealing with hormones quite a bit and they tend to chew the clothes like things, but i am sure it is gonna be great for some parrots. Marry Christmas!

Another great video. Had my parrotlet for couple weeks now. Seems happy I'm at the stage that I can hold very small piece of millet he will slowly eat it but also being little cautious. I will stick with this for few more weeks then move to putting seed on my palm hopefully start step up training.

Such a cool idea! I have considered getting a slow eating bowl meant for dogs, to use as a foraging bowl for my budgie!

Hey so I got some hand fed bonded male parakeets the other day and they seem really really scared of me is there anything I can do to show them that I’m no threat?

Perhaps sit near the cage and read or do some paperwork etc. you can talk softly to them without making eye contact. If you can get some millet which has long stems you could put some in between the cage bars and hold it at the other end so they will not have to come close to your hand. Keep things calm around them, like no loud music etc. Try to see that they get enough sleep. Good luck to you! Eventually they will realize that you are their friend!

Hello! I'm a new rescue parrolet mom , 2 weeks old, handfeeding. I'm came across your videos and will be learning all I can from you. (:
My question is, when I'm feeding the baby, use noticed a little bit of air bubbling near his neck. I've googled.. and it said to "burp" the baby. Could you help me with that? Should I be concerned? Is it normal? Do you even burp birds?
Please help (: thanks so much.

Do you birds have food available at all times in their cages? I'm curious because if they do I wonder if they would be motivated to hunt in the mat. Thanks.

As I watched for a min, my mind instantly begins to think diy...cardboard flats, like made for cats to claw.. maybe a bit more bird safe and replaceable when destroyed. But still nice for treats to hide down in and able to place on the floor.

QUESTION in the fountain you have for newt could you put stones in the bottom, like stones you would find at a pet store for fish tanks? i want to get the same one but i am slightly concerned their toes could get stuck.

    • @FlockTalk
      @FlockTalk  2 ปีที่แล้ว

You should totally be able to do that, it is worth noting that the spout/ neck of the fountain is a large plastic cover already that goes over the pump so there’s no real way for toes to potentially reach the pump. But adding rocks to the bottom shouldn’t interfere with anything at all!

I do think it is a toy that you should stay close to, and not let them play with unattended. I do see a number of my own birds demolish and eat the dust.... with all the consequences that entails. there are also many plastic animal feeds, for example in the shape of a honeycomb. I saw someone use this for their rabbit on TH-cam by putting fresh herbs in each box at the end you had a beautiful bouquet. think that could be fun for birds too

wish mine would only chew natural stuff! One of mine is the reverse, she'll eat anything artificial, but not anything natural lol. Happy to eat the rubber off the bottom of a fake grass mat, but paper, cardboard, wood etc etc, forget it!

I cant find your most recent video to hopefully suggest a topic for a future video...that you may or may not have done.
    ⭐My suggestion⭐
When you bring a new bird home..to know when it is and is not beneficial to your bird.
I have a parakeet. I thought she would be happier with another bird to hangout with.
Boy was I wrong! She hates him..and he is only a baby! She pecks at him, and is sick of him following her. There is no preening of each other. They dont sleep together, or even on the same perch. She is all puffed up and even going into her cage to get away from him, considering he doesn't know how to get in and out of the cage yet...and usually she only goes back into her cage when she is ready to sleep for the night. She actually seems a bit withdrawn.
Sadly, I am going to take him back to Petsmart tomorrow. I have had him 4-5 days.
Please help if you have any suggestions!
