Logan only wanted a hug from Shiv because the paparazzi were there, he wanted her seen publicly supporting him. She know that so she stay in the car.
Connor was not irrelevant. The donuts spooked everyone. Everyone was ready to do it before the donuts arrived. They also said, "These are relevant Donuts". Connor was the first one to fold. Because he did, it got easier for Roman and Shiv to fold too.
You guys probably realized this by now (hopefully) but Ken isn't doing any of this for the "good of the world" or for the victims. He simply saw a chance to get back at his father and break free from him and is doing this to try and win for once. A big giveaway for that is how he reacted to his siblings when they refused to join him. Especially Shiv, considering how he's presenting himself as a "feminist" to the public.
I definitely think that Ken has a desire to do the right thing but it is often overpowered by his other feelings

I think Kendall's reaction to Connor dropping out is the reason this fell apart. Not that they care about Connor's feelings but it reminded Roman and Shiv that Ken would treat them like he's Logan and at the end of the day that's the game they're all playing.
Exactly this. I think that turning down the opportunity was also a test for Kendall. If he reacted differently they might still turn him down, but they would eventually come back to him on their own. They would see that he's actually different and feel safe to join him. They pushed him around and his façade fell apart quickly.
Kendall isn't doing this because he thinks it's right. He's doing it because it's a play.
This is the same guy who just a couple episodes essentially called everything that happened on the cruises a "witch-hunt" now all of a sudden he's saying they all knew the whole time?
I love the acting in this episode, just the second of doubt you see in Roman when the sibs told him that Logan went over him and put Gerri as interim CEO instead of him... you could also now see who the most loyal child was (Roman) but its still up in the air why he's the most loyal, is he just scared of his dad?
That and also because he wants his dad’s love, and to make him proud so he’s no longer seen as the runt.

Such a special season
This was a slow episode but the ending was intense. Kendall burning all his siblings was hard to watch.
I think what kids need to do is pave their own paths, start their own businesses or careers. Stop trying to take over dad’s shop because Logan doesn’t want to give it to any of them and the whole operations stinks of compromise anyway. And I mean did Logan inherit the company from his dad? No! He created it from scratch so if you really want to be like Logan you should go create your own success from the ground up!

Yeah but she shot her own career in the head as soon as Logan mentioned her possible succession. The kids need to break the spell of the lure imo. Just stay on their own courses. Connor is doing the best at it so far.
Yeah but Logan and the kids had completely different upbringings. You can't be mad they're not capable of forging their own path like Logan did when the experiences that shaped them are completely different. Their entire lives have revolved around their father and the company, that's what their brains are wired to value above all else.

Definitely a fun episode.
The thing with Kendall as I'm sure y'all know now is he melts down a lot like Roman said in the first episode of this season. He talks a big game and the siblings were considering it but his follow-through record sucks. Unforutnately, Kendall's reputation and past will always precedes him. Also the kids know that Logan would be toast if they go with Kendall. He would likely die in prison and their family company would lose a significant amount of clout so if they would turn on Logan it would have to be very promising.

Shiv is one of the most priveledged people presented on the show, and if her sibling want to play her and get under her skin because she is a woman - good, she plays just as rough if not more.

Kendall was ind of spitting here, Shiv would have never gotten the role had it not been for needing to slap a woman like a bandaid over the cruises situation.
Then again, Shiv probably would have gotten more chances from Logan if she was a man. Roman was COO despite being a knucklehead after all.

@@DanLanningPRTeam Shiv says in season 1 that Logan always preferred Kendall and Roman. She cries tears of joy when she gets offered the CEO title in season 2. She made a career outside Waystar because she never thought that Logan would give her the top job.

Agreed and I think Logan just wants to pit them against one another and have them fighting for his approval. He knows he's not gonna pick Shiv as the final ceo. If she worked at waystar as long as her brothers then she'd be a real option, but that's not the case. She's a convenient shield for Logan.
